Wow...he may actually get out of prison one day....that is just plain sad. Maybe someone in prison will do the right thing and give the family of the victim some relief that he will never be able to do this again.

I am not AT ALL familiar with Canadian law but in the U.S. second degree murder means it was not pre-meditated. THIS was OBVIOUSLY premeditiated, it might have been thought through in a short period of time but this was not "accidental". What the heck. That is a crazy charge to place on this whacko!

the reason they arnt throwing every book they have at him is probably because he was on prescription meds and the meds are probably what made him go nutzo. cant let the blame rest on the big pharmasuetical companies.

its because people are big pansies these days completely ruled by fear. they cling to their own lives so tightly they never know what it is like to be truely alive. defending the innocent used to be something more valuable than ones own life. back in the day samuris used to kill themselves rather than bring shame to their families. captains used to go down with their ships. soldiers would fight to the death. cops would dive in front of bullets to protect innocent bystanders.

today we have a bus full of able bodied men screaming and wetting themselves almost trampling each other to get away with one dude with a knife. herioic indeed. i should have been born like 200 years ago. get me out of here...

I still think this guy should be put in front of the townspeople and be stoned to death.....what kind of #ed up legal system says it is not pre-meditated when he has the knife on him and appeared by the accounts of witnesses to be moving seats....probably deciding which passenger to attack.

I would be in support of this guy dying... its only a shame that someone couldnt have ended his life mere seconds after he started slicing up the guy...

More of a shock value than anything I guess. It gets a message across and is no more violent than the way he butchered his victim. I am actually for murderers being executed in the same manner that they killed their victims, mainly to understand the pain they caused and let them know the fear of what they did themselves. Why would it be appropriate for a murderer to die in a less violent manner than the way they killed...because it is humane? Was their act of violence humane?

I am by no means evil or cold-hearted, but this kind of act really makes my blood boil, and the fact that nobody did anything to help just puts it over the top.

firstly, everyones different.
second, most people have a deep passion to kill, they just need consent from there society, like going to war.

there isnt any honor, there isnt any gratitude, its just something that one person can do withought reason.

Didn't anybody read to the end of the CNN article? When everyone left the bus the guy hadn't yet been decapitated.

The bus driver, a witness and a passing truck driver brandishing crowbars and such, went back in to see if they could help the victim and were attacked by the psycho.

When the guy came at them with the severed head, they realized it was too late and they backed out. No sense risking your life for a corpse is there?

So stop all the cowardly Canadians talk. All you heros from south of the border wouldn't had fared any better....

Seriously people, stop criticizing the passenger for not doing anything. I mean what the heck would you guys be doing in a situation like this? And don't even tell me save the guy?

If you were in the passengers' shoes, it's most likely that your going to run for your life, its all about instinct: fight or flight. If you see an emotionless man, covered in blood, holding a knife in his hand, you'll damn as sure go with "flight."

I know some people say well "if I had a gun...," well chances are no one on that bus carried a gun or any other lethal weapon that could of stopped the killer.

Me personally? I really don't know what I would of done in this situation. I mean I always liked to tell myself that I'd jump in and try to save the guy, but since until I'm stick in that situation (which I hope not), I really wouldn't know. And I'm sure as heck know everyone is like me.

Anyways, the guy the victim had a smoke before he died, said that he was one of the first to be aware of the incident, and by the time he turned around the victim was practically stabbed multiple times in the chest and gargling out blood...in this situation, theres not much you can do for the victim, except prevent others from becoming victims and thats what that guys did, he notified other people.

Wait, woah...

Allot of you are saying that the psycho wouldn't have been able to do this if someone had a gun.

WHAT IF THE PSYCHO HAD A GUN ?

And no, even if someone had a gun, he would still have been able to kill his seat mate. Remember, he was repeatedly stabbed, and killed first. What you do with a gun after that would only stop the justice system from punishing him...

basically, if you had a gun, passenger is still dead, and you just gave that murderer the easy way out.

Congrats!

If the psycho had the gun, I guarantee ALLOT more people would be dead than just this victim. You can squeeze off allot of rounds before someone manages to lift up from their seat, grab their gun, load it, and fire back.

So, explain to me again, how a gun would have improved the situation?

That may be but in the thread regarding this in Other Current Events forum they found this liveleak audio of the police scanner. The police watched the guy EAT parts of the victim before they went in and got him! If this dude was on meds and those meds "helped" him do this... big pharma needs to be brought into it. And this dude needs to be placed in a cell, alone, forever.
BTW the liveleak is audio is pretty disturbing.

Aboriginal, Native American, indigenous or First Nations all pretty much mean the same thing, imo. Generally, it means the people who were already there (pick country of choice) before the colonists came.
