i really get the feeling that the govt, NASA, and the defense missile system, (at whatever stage of development is is at)
are trying to stage a theme that this is a hastily cobbled
'shoot the satellites fuel tanks'... 'to save the environment' exercise

both to impress the rest of the world with the USAs technology expertise
and in the process mislead the rest of the world that the USA did not
have this type of SpaceAttack technlogy before this Feb '08 (sudden) danger of spy satellite hazardous fuel getting areosolized in the atmosphere.

it all smacks of being staged and on schedule,
and be successful just as GWBush is wrapping up his 6 day visit to Africa,

my two bits (hey its inflationary times)

DOD jobs require American citizenship.

I think that might be the best spin on that comment.

Although poor workmanship on bolts for Marine chopper blades have
turned up .. I am not sure what happened to the supplying company
or the person that requisitioned the part or lack of controls involved.

Satellites not working... perhaps the rocket won't work either.

The Illuminati are not American either and should not be on control.
And any American associating with the Illuminati is a traitor.

Last two passes using n2yo.com... the "feed" drops out as it approaches it's lowest point in orbit... kicks back in later - real regular-like. We're definitely into the 150 statute mile range in altitude at it's lowest point over the North Pacific (below 160 miles 4sure - 844,000 feet)... some say the Navy will take the shot at 130 nautical miles (780,00 feet-ish) and that the junk will make 2 orbits before it impacts...

Last time STS/ISS and 193 crossed paths... they were less than 60 miles apart in altitude... bet our Russky ISS flyers were.... maybe doing a little nadir-side sight-seeing.

Interesting little article from the WRH site. Note the comments on the Hydrazine danger!

blog.wired.com...

After all this, they better hit the bloody thing

Yup. Great link.
Nice to know others feel the same. 193 is dipping below 160 just North East-ish of Aus it's on the ascension side of the orbit now and rising as it's velocity picks up... 4.68 miles per second.

Vic

This bird's orbital velocity seems really, really unstable... it shouldn't be hitting any atmosphere... it is tumbling for sure. Gonna be quite the shot. I'm with St Udio on the "show" thing. Hydrazine threat... big yucks.

I'm hoping this thing lands on some of my land.

I'll be sure to get photos. Maybe put it into my shop.

It surely could Dulcimer. Really. Key in n2yo.com (they're up) and see the 5 day groundtrack for your IP. It'll be visible in the Med this pass moving North East. It goes "off" when it drops below or approaches 160 miles altitude... 160.42 just crossing to the Atlantic over Brazil.

Vic

EDIT: 159.74, 73, 72 miles... feed keeps dropping out.

So is the timetable still Tuesday/Wednesday or is it sooner?

As best I can gather after STS-122 touches down... that could change though because of weather for both USA 193 and STS. My own thought was Tuesday before "the official" shoot sked. I'd want STS and ISS gathering local data if I could... don't know. With what little data I've got I'm thinking an unaltered orbital decay might be as early as the 26th of February as an impact date now. It's orbital velocity is all messed up and it's hard to get a clean idea of the rate of descent. It is coming down faster than it was a week ago... not much, but some, as it loses energy.

Oh, if it falls anywhere anyone reading this is... if you can smell the wreckage or debris... just don't OK? Don't worry about the hydrazine tanks... they'll blow all by themselves even without a strike from a KV.

Get pics if you must, but if you have a friend who works in X-Ray borrow a dosimeter badge. Really. We have zero idea what's on this bird. A 75 Nm "SARS" mask might be an idea. Could be exactly what "they" say, maybe not. It's coming down with or without help.

Coming up on a night time pass over North America... just over central Mexico now, USA 193 should be visible to the naked eye... roughly Texas crossing the sky moving NE at an altitude 159.7 miles at 4.68 miles per second.

Cheers,

Vic

Any chance of you getting me the co-ordinates for a central Michigan passover?

Well, low in the western sky was either the sat or a small plane - it was way off in the distance....Now I wonder - time to get the dosimeter

Hmmm. Groundtrack from n2yo.com indicated it should have been to the East side. Just the tiniest little pin-prick of light light up from underneath from the West... next pass over NA in an hour... Cali moving NE... just a guess... GD feed keeps splatting.

Yeah, this light was really faint - It was, maybe, at 5-10 degrees up from the horizon.

Coulda been. It may have twinkled a little from it's tumbling. I must really load some orbital software... almost gotta have a machine dedicated. Use an old Octane or something. I wanted to wait until we got a good telescope. PLEASE take a pic ANYBODY, ANYWHERE!. I've had a guy here... well North of here with a 300mm just waiting... and waiting on "good' passes, takes race pics for a living. Not a chance eh... socked in again. "We will own the weather by 2015", uh good down payment from where I sit Mr General, Sir. LOL. Just gotts ta be patient and let it happen. Someone will get it... that's all that matters.

This thing goes really far South... almost Antartica. Max alt last pass 171.97 at the Southern most point. Velocity 4.64 miles per second. I make the mean rate drop at approx 0.11 miles per orbit... but it jumps up and down... started it's way back toward NA.

Beer.

I have been tracking it, but I don't think I will be able to see it with our skies.

Yup. That's a lotta sky when you see it on a map... hey I missed. Beer. Manitoba, maybe the corner of Sask. Not toon-town. Great place.

Cheers and beers,

Vic
