Anything new at all vahl, its been almost a month.

I am going to talk about this from the other side of the fence. first as my

We have for many years everywhere we lived had "spirits" with us. everything
from our pets that have passed over, other animals, children ( currently it is a little girl about 10-12).

My exwife had a spirit that followed her form when she was young , at least as
long as we were married ( i dont know after that).

While most of the suggestions given here are good, ( im not sure i would seal the borders until i find out who and what is inside.) To me the most obvious
first step has been missed. The next time you feel a presence simply ask,
Who are you? What do you want? Is there anything I can do for you?

many times just asking can end the visits. Maybe you have disturbed a resting place without knowing it. what was there before this house was built?

This thread took me a landmark 4 hours to read through from the beginning and I have to say I am utterly fascinated by it. I don't usuall subscribe to threads in other messageboards but I feel compelled to do so today because of my interest in this subject.

I just have to ask, could some of the manifestations be connected with those books? I know in some cases paranormal activity is connected to ccertain objects as opposed to the whole house. I'd experiment and see what happens when you remove all of the books and store them somewhere to see if that has any effect on the paranormal occurences.

Well, if the pattern is correct, these lulls mean that nothing has been occuring so far or that she doesn't want to jinx her run of good luck by posting anything here. I hope Val posts updates should anything happen though. The worst thing to do is not tell anyone something has happened.

Okay, it's been a while since we've had any activity, but it started up again last week. We had two incidences last week, and one yesterday evening.

Last Thursday evening Springer and I were watching TV in the living room. No one else was home. All of sudden there were sounds of movement in my daughter's room upstairs. In addition, she has a floorboard that squeaks when you walk across it. It squeaked while the sounds were coming from over our heads.

The next morning, I got up for the morning and approximately an hour after I got up I heard some one come up the stairs (behind me and go into the bathroom upstairs and close the door). I was working on my checkbook, so I didn't pay any attention other than I just thought my son had come home from his friend's house to get ready for work. About 30 minutes later I got up to go use the restroom and the door was still closed, so I knocked on the door. Nobody answered, so I opened the door and there was no one in there. I opened my son's bedroom door and there was no one in there. I went and checked to see that Springer was still in bed and he was sound asleep. So at this point I'm thinking my son had come home, gotten ready for work (without me hearing him moving around past closing the bathroom door) and then left again. But that was blown away when I went to leave for work and the deadbolt was still locked. My son doesn't close a door, let alone lock one. That evening I verified with him that he had never come home before going to work.

Then, last night, Springer and I were watching TV again, and the movement started upstairs again. Only this time it got more "vigorous" for lack of a better word. And there were actually some pretty good "thumps" like something was bumping around or dropping something.

On Friday evening last week at the local pub we saw our friend down the street that also has activity. Springer visitied with him a bit and then he asked "so, have you guys started having things happen?" And we told him about the two incidences on Thursday night and Friday morning. He said about within the week before that he had started having lights and radios go on and off again.

So - I guess they're back for Spring activities or something!

I do have something...I just got a new cell phone. A LG1400, the one that takes pictures. Well while I was learning about the phone and how to take pictures, size them, ect... I took a mise pics of different things around my home and in one there is a faint figure in a doorway leading out onto the patio. I had taken two pictures and its in both, just posed different. I am going to get that cable to download them onto my computer soon and will share as soon as I can. But I have not heard any noises and nothing has been moved. Just the one figure. Hope to get that uploaded soon.

Two separate events happened yesterday - one to Springer, one to me.

Yesterday evening Springer and I were sitting in the living room and Springer decided to go upstairs and check his email because he's waiting to hear back from a friend. In a little while I hear him come down the stairs (which, if you're keeping up with this you know are VERY squeaky). I then hear him turn on the kitchen faucet and the water is running. I'm sitting on the couch in the living room so I holler and ask "What'd you find out?" No answer. Water shuts off. I ask again. No answer. I then hear Springer coming down the stairs! He comes into the living room and I'm sitting there staring like a deer in the headlights. I asked him - were you just running water in the kitchen? He says "No...I was upstairs. Weren't you running water?" I tell him no...now we're both staring at each other like deer in the headlights.



Okay, this is what really happened. Springer did start down the stairs, he got about halfway down them and realized he had left something upstairs and turned around and went back up. When he started down the stairs he could hear water running in the kitchen.

Don't know who was running water. Nobody else was in the house.

So after this event happens to me Springer says - this is insane, something just like this happened to me this morning.

After I left for work Springer and our little dog Bear were in the bedroom (door closed). Springer hears some one coming up the stairs and Bear runs over to the door and lays down to where his nose is at the bottom crack, just like he does when he hears somebody in the hall. Springer assumed it might be my mother stopping by, so he goes to the window and looks out and there is no car in the driveway. He immediately goes out of the bedroom and nobody is in the house!

Wait wait - I left out something very important. After Springer and I both realized neither of us had been in the kitchen, Springer said "Well, there's one way to find out." and heads for the kitchen. I follow him in there and he goes to the kitchen sink. The sink is wet and a bowl he had placed in there earlier is full of water. That's when he said "this is insane".

ask your daughter if she hears things or has a friend thats in the house and ask your son to if one of them say yes ask them these questions
1. Is it a boy or girl?
2. Does he/she tell you to do bad things?
3. Does it do bad things to you?
4. Were in the house is your friend?
5. Does he/she know anyone else in the house?

Trust your instincts and use common sense if you start hearing voices in your head that tell you demononic things get out of the house it just might be another amityville horror thing at your house oh ya if your kids say that they do have a friend 5. question is most important ask your kids if these people in the house r mean and violent they do bad things stuff like that

Actually, this is good advice. I once lived in a house share (an old mansion estate) that had a lot of strange goings on. One day it came up where I lived (while in another town) in front of a cop for that town. He told me the house was haunted and recounted some things that he himself had verified about the inside of the house being breached when no entry had been breached. He also told me who it was suppossedly hanging out. A former woman who once owned the house - Mrs. Brixie or something like that.

The house was huge (over 20 rooms) and had a full height 3rd floor attic with tons of windows. It cost us a fortune to heat the place in the winter, and we kept finding all the windows opened up there, as well as elsewhere in the house. So I went up one day, addressing her by the name I was given, and explained that the open windows were really causing a problem for us at the moment due to the heating of the house. The attic windows never opened on their own again. Also, the other windows stopped being opened in the winter, but they were opened when the weather was nice. There were a lot of other things that went on in this house, but it turned out if it really bothered us, all we had to do was ask her to stop (so we did ignore some of it if it wasn't a big deal since she seemed to be so accomodating).

Of course Mrs. Brixie was a very benevolent entity to us and seemed to like the fact that we were taking care of her home and making it nice again. I heard horror stories that occurred when prior people who were trashing the place lived there before us.

Val, keeping Relentless's post in mind, it might not hurt to thank your entity for turning the water back off......if it can turn it on, best to stay on good terms with it, lest it just leave the faucet running and flood the place next time. ( Makes me wonder about one time the water came on and flooded our old circa-1900 place while it was under re-construction!??)

Is there any significance in running water for a ghost or haunting? ( like the Sleepy Hollow tale?)

Maybe yours was just facinated by new plumbing.....have you had to redo a lot of the old stuff?

Wel i wud first like to start, as many have, by saying your thread is by far the best i've seen. It was actually exciting! The whole thing read like a book! very awsome to say the least....

In regards to the possible blood/marital relation to this house their have been many a tale of well for simplicities sake call them ghosts (whether they're parallel dimesnion beings, time rift encounters.....whatever......all of which i still find riveting by the way). Their have been many a tale of ghostly events coming full circle. Take a most recent episode of "Most Haunted". Now, I am uncertain to the aunthenticity of the show, but regardless of that, they visit a castle in Scotland. At this castle they contacted the spirit of a woman who lived at the house. Prior to this encounter all the the night vigil one member of the investigation team was feeling nauseus, upset, and also that all througout the night he had an unncanny sense of direction, as though he'd been here before. Nehoo.......it turns out that this spirit girl knew of this person!. Not only that, but she had been married to him! She said she had waited until he returned! Intruguing to say the least.

My point is that perhaps something happened in the history of the house, something that you are really going to dig deep (perhaps even literally, if you catch my drift). Maybe their is some reason why the gods of fate have directed you back to this place; to uncover a truth that lies hidden, AND UNRECORDED. maybe the latter is why their have been paranormal events.

Now obviously we know by now, that the entity possibly has the para-kinetic abilities. Something that has just come to me is that HEAT GREATLY INTENSIFIES PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. (I'm recalling a certain several instances regarding the suggested desire for heat??? am i right?)

the theory behind this is that a paranormal being - made of energy - draws heat from a room, converts it into whatever it does to create paranormal activity. This ties in with the reason for coldspots.

Now it seems clear to me that you are here for a reason. That reason I am unsure. You have obviously had an intense urge to find out the EXTENSIVE history of the building, its inhabitants etc. Now maybe thats just your nature, or perhaps something is influencing you to do so even more. Its just a thought.

Their is an experiment you are able to do easily, although it does sometimes take a few times to get going. weve already established that it may possess para-kinetic abilities. And doing this may allow it to establish real time contact, so to speak, instead of just building up all "its" energy into single, powerful outbursts

1. Turn on all heat sources and wait for the whole house to heat up like an oven, also make sure its really quiet.

2. Get all your willing family members in a circle on the floor, in the room with the most activity (or your daughters bedroom as that is where most of the hostility from your dogs is directed.) place the tape recorder in the centre of the circle if you like

3. Hold hands if you like, its not neccesary, but can help (as you see its basically a siance with a few viarables) Call out to this thing, ask him/her/it to use the heat energy, your energies, to make loud noises etc.

4.If successful, ask out for conformation. Ask it to tap loudly TWICE if anyone is there. You get the basic gist of this now......

Very early this morning, around 1:30am CDT, while I was posting on ATS I saw a "difference in light quality"(this is the best I can do to describe this, it wasn't a shadow) literally pass by the study door out in the upstairs hall way.

Not only did I see it in my peripheral vision, I actually "felt it" in a bizarre way.

Additionally, I heard some thumps in what I figured was the attic, but I can't say for certain they were above me because they were sort of "around me" laterally as well.

Later, about 2:45am CDT,. I heard noises that caused me to go downstairs and turn on the outside lights thinking there was someone messing about on the property, there was no one... Bear, the BEST Dog in the world , also heard these later noises as he was at attention by the bedroom door when I got up to investigate.

I left the bedroom door open for the rest of the wee morning hours until Valhall woke up so Bear could sound the alarm if he heard anything, nothing else happened.

I'm glad that you have enjoyed me sharing what is going on here. So far I have done well with sharing things that happen. But the one thing I regret is when I did the series of EVP's here and then some one convinced me I had not done them correctly and I deleted them all. That's the only thing I feel I have done "wrong" at this point. I will explain why I feel that was a wrong decision now.

Back last year I downloaded an EVP-maker software which uses your own voice to create white noise. I selected a random book off the shelf and read an arbitrary selection into the EVP-maker software. The software then takes that recording and "randomizes" it to produce white noise. You then play that random noise in the background and ask questions as it is playing and record as you are asking. The concept is that the white noise will be used to answer your questions. I asked a number of questions and got answers. I posted a link with all of this to a select number of members here - without giving them the answers I heard. (Because I didn't want to manipulate anything.)

I had a member who was supposed to be an expert in audio (and no longer posts here), and whom I trusted, convince me that it was wrong to use white noise generated from my own voice. I have now learned - sadly - that is not true. But believing that the person was correct, I deleted the EVP recordings. That's the only thing I feel I have done wrong in this whole thing.

...And here is why. One of the questions I asked during the EVP recordings was "Is there something you want me find?" And the answer was "twenty-five hundred". I don't know what that means, but that was the answer.

After hearing that EVP response I did another EVP recording and asked "Is there some place you want me to look?" And the answer was clearly "In the vestibule."

Well, there is no vestibule in this house. There's not even the possibility of a vestibule. A vestibule being defined as a foyer which is completely enclosed to itself. A separate "entrance room", if you will.

A few months later I just deleted all my EVP audio files because I thought they were worthless. There were several responses, and all of them in the same elderly lady voice with a discernable "dialect".

In the past year the granddaughter of the ORIGINAL builder of this house (she's in her late 70's, early 80's now) came to our house because she wanted to see her grandparents' house that she had lived in when she was a child. She walked through the lower part of the house and told us about how it had changed. And then she started telling us about the front room. Currently the front room is one long wide room, about 15 foot wide, and runs the full width of the house (about 30 feet). She said it used to be split into two separate rooms. We knew that because as we've been rennovating we have found the evidence of one wall to the west of the front door. But she goes on. She says "yes, there was one wall there, but there was also one wall just to the east of the front door as well, and it ran all the way to the south wall. It had a door that went into the "music room" (which would be the west side of our front room now) and one door that went into the parlor (which would be the east side of our front room now). It ended at the south wall with a door that went into the rest of the house. THAT IS A VESTIBULE! Basically, the way the original house was built was you walked into a long hall with doors to every other part of the house!

That's when I mourned the day I deleted my EVPs. I'll never listen to advice again if it means destroying evidence. I had something I should have kept, and threw it away.

Oh yea, remember, when you heard voices of people screaming or crying (or it was your son). Well, I'm starting to hear it again, a few months ago it was my mom and my sister, and now a friend. It's so werid, it just happen just now, I was watering my mom's plant, and then out no where, I hear what seems to be my friends voice, scream out my name, startled me for a second, cuz it was dark, and werid things happens to me, so i was like "hey? dang it, fine!" and continued on watering my mom's plants, cuz she said so.
