Nobody seems to know anything about this community and their grievances.

Maybe because they dom't want to integrate.

Do any of us here know what it feels like to be persecuted?

What's your description of persecution ?

I don't know, that's why I am asking.

The Jewish in Nazi Germany where persecuted. Is it like that ?

Why do you use the term community. We are all supposed to be British. So we have been told.

To avoid another riot they should wind their #ing necks in, let Social Services and the Police do their jobs because if they don't there's half a chance they'll have half of Leeds descending on them to really give them some 'persecution issues' to worry about.

Social Service are caught between a rock and a hard place, do nothing and they get accused of not caring because they are immigrant.....do something and its persecution.

What it is is a big, massive, #ing chip on their shoulder and a enormous sense of entitlement.

I'd give the kids back alright....on a way way ticket back for all of them to #sville Romania or wherever else they've come from.

I for one would like to know why they feel the way they do about the police there.

The lack of respect where the Police is concerned is a nationwide concern quintessentone.

And for good reason quite frankly given some of the horrendous things a few bad apples have perpetrated.

But that does not mean people have the right to mob and riot and stop authorities from doing their jobs just because they ""claim"" persecution.

Lack of respect is not carte blanche to start destroying society.

Is it a lack of respect or a misinterpretation as someone was claiming? We just don't know.

Misinterpretation from where, social work?

Police?

Who's being misrepresented?

Where are the false or misleading accounts?

What's hard for you to understand about this?

Social Services were called because of fears surrounding the safety of several children - the safeguarding of children is very much within their remit, as it should be.
The 'local' people took exception to this as they feel Social Service don't have a right to do this - I think I may be correct in saying they actually have a legal responsibility to do so.

The police were called to protect the peace and ensure Social Services could go about their job of trying to care and safeguard the children.

A lot of these people feel 'persecuted' because they aren't allowed to do as they feel and see fit and because they are just as answerable to the laws of this land as the rest of us are.

If they don't like that there is a very, very easy solution.........

My younger sister works in the social services and it is only as a last resort they grab the kids as it is in excess of 5k + a week per child to look after them .

Maybe they had the kids out working !

It's hard for me to understand because their anger was directed solely at police rather police car(s). Then the word on the street there is that they are persecuted by police. Is the answer to send in more police without sending someone in to communicate with them? I really have never heard of this type of violence before from a multi-cultural community such as this one.

The force confirmed nobody was reported to have been hurt in the disorder and police are treating the matter as a serious public order incident.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police urged people not to speculate about the cause of the riot.

Yeah, escalation of violence supposedly by the young people as the authorities are appealing to the parents of the young people to keep them indoors tonight.

I saw somewhere how one of the children had presented with non accidental head injury. Seems extreme SS were out there to remove all 5 of the children. Under such circs, I think police would have been involved before any escalation.

I imagine they would attend.

And if they established the child that "presented with the nonaccidental head injury" did so because of neglect or an attack.

They may indeed consider removing all 5 of the children to a safe environment.

After all, that's what they are supposed to do.

Probably had a few run in with the SS before this incident as the SS are getting their budgets cut big time and most of the staff are of sick a lot with the work load and 5 kids in care is £ 100 k a month minimum,

Kids were probably out shoplifting or selling drugs or worse IMHO

Honestly?

Which rock have you been hiding under?

And for the last time; they feel they are 'persecuted' because the same laws apply to them as apply to every other person in the UK. There are no special laws for immigrants - be they legal or illegal.

One Law for All.

Social Services had a job to do - a very hard job - and the police rightly stepped in to help them do that job.
Some 'locals' got upset which upset some other locals.

If they don't like it, tough....# off.

It really is that simple.

That's some fat brush you're wielding there.

Children's ages have not been disclosed. I'll keep an open mind about if any of the children are in some way culpable.
