We know which side our bread is buttered.

And it's certainly not Putin side up.

As to us being brainwashed by mass media and our education system.

That's just not true and people are free to think and do as they please for the most part here in the UK.

Now where our educational system and establishment are concerned, they are far from perfect, but there are far worse educational systems in other nations.

And the fact of the matter is that people come from all over the globe to be educated here in the UK.

So it cannot be that bad.

Where mass media is concerned, i think we may be all in the same boat there, unless you live under a rock.

The whole of the Internet is govt propaganda? You sure?

Didn't say that.
But you get yourself into a tangle by claiming Western media is any freer than any other region.
Separating fact from fiction/propaganda is no easier here than it is elsewhere, and each is often dressed up as the other.

Most media can be be twisted in one or another, but you're telling me that western media is as controlled and manipulated as a state owned and state run media. Russia for example has no free media what so ever, Putin and the kremlin has a finger in every news out let. How is that similar to western media?

I didn't imply that they instigated it outright but they certainly encouraged it. I meant to suggest they had financial reasons to help the southern states. The northern states control of the federal government imposed tariffs on the cotton being shipped to England that the southern states objected to as being overly burdensome and detrimental to their cotton trade. Tariffs on trade was the fundamental means to finance the federal government at that time. There was no income tax back then.

It's certainly a damn sight freer than Russian or Chinese or NK media?

How did they encourage it?

The British Empire maintained an official policy of neutrality during the conflict in question.

Which is not to say that the government and public opinion were not divided in their sympathies.

But Britain did not officially take sides and managed to avoid direct involvement in the conflict as far as I'm aware.

Beats head against the proverbial brick wall again. Over and over again. When will I ever learn?

Oficialy, according to Brandon our southern border is secure. The millions that have poured across it in the last 3 years is just a figment of our imagination.

Oficialy bull $h!t.

Edit again: Why do you think the northern fleets blockaded all of the southern ports?

Speaking of propaganda and brainwashing, the new Supreme Court decision all but ensures death of free speech.

Us Brits don't care a rat's arse about your off topic US politics so, give it a rest?

Go make a thread about it.

Oh, I'm so sorry. It must have been my imagination seeing this discussion wade into various off topics like public education, brainwashing, US Civil War and other issues.

Am I suddenly supposed to give a rat's arse what you Brits care about?

Maybe you should keep scrolling, considering this isn't even your thread...

You certainly do not have any to share. You're more full of it than Brandon is. And I don't mean truth! What you are full of begins with a capitol S and ends with a capitol T.

But that's OK Old Carpy, I still love you. KISS,KISS.

The thread is about the supposed opinions of young Englishmen. No, it's not my thread. Not yours, either.

Maybe, you should stay on topic?

Well let's see...

On the topic of western media and freedom of press, which you participated in, this Supreme court ruling has a direct, adverse affect.

Anything you'd care to add?

Plausible deniability doesn't get you anywhere here. I know better. Kiss, Kiss!

Edit: Somebody tell Oldcarpy who Brandon is.
