A couple of decades ago read a sci/fi novel that introduced to me the concept of memetics. Memes. This instilled in me a desire to study the subject in earnest. Something that we pay attention to for a short time and then forget about. From what I studied, this could not be farther from the truth.

They can run in such a manner that we believe that we are really thinking when what is really happening is that they are running themselves. I might go so far as to suggest that most of what we think is merely this, and to strive to have real consciousness, really thought that is directed by our wills is a most uncommon experience.

Taking this even farther, almost into the realm of science fiction was the gist of that novel I read. There, memes were almost like eternal powers that fought for the the minds of humanity struggling for dominance like a gene struggles for dominance in an evolutionary sense. As if it were like Plato's ''Forms'' but not just the universal form of say a chair or a horse but rather universal thoughts and concepts that are eventually encountered by the minds of men. All there waiting to be found or worse waiting there to attach themselves to to the unsuspecting minds of humans.

As the topic of this thread is scary stuff, I think this is scary enough. Each and every quote offered in your encompassing post is a case of where one or a few people found one of these memes and fed them to the masses poisoning their minds with forms of complex memetics that cannot be escaped.

Absolutely we all agree on Oct. 7th was a defining moment in this Israel/Hamas conflict and what happened afterwards is unprecedented in acts, words and killing of civilians. A war of revenge cannot be ignored in place of the 'defending ourselves' narrative. What most don't want to know or care to know is what led up to Oct. 7th and what lies behind other world leaders' interests to keep the massacre going. Flip that around, and what lies behind the Arab nations interests to stop imperial colonization of their lands and the continuing occupation of the Palestinian people. Or are there other shadow endgames or conspiracies at play?

Gas was cheap because of the OPEC+ trade disagreement, and oil futures going negative. Every vessel that could hold oil was filled.

As for the groceries, that didn’t last long after we printed trillions of dollars and handed it out.

It was one of the worst overreactions the US has ever had. And people can blame in on COVID if they want, but we don’t give Dubya and Barry a free pass because a crisis happened while they were president. No one was drafted to be president, they ran. We grade them on their hardest moments. Trump was one of the worst presidents for the economy in my lifetime.
