Thank you for your reply. It will give me something to look over and research on my trip for the next few weeks. I will do my best to comment accordingly. I am vaguely familiar with his work and while I can appreciate his "expertise" there are other "experts" that do not agree with him. I will also need to find more than the one source you quoted to read what others say (for and against) on the matter as well.

I quoted "experts" because I do believe there can be leading experts in the field of a specific study but I do not believe there is just one expert that has the final say. The Dr. in front of their name or the paper certificate framed on the wall just means they have studied enough to give you their opinion. Regardless of their education or experience their decision comes with some form of bias. Its the same reasons why we should get second opinions when it comes to our health, vehicle repair..etc. As a side note "experts" and "trusting in the science" has left me wanting as of late, but that is a topic for another thread.

When looking into the Bible I see far too many believers and non believers quote scriptures out of context instead of reading the entire chapter or referencing the Hebrew and Greek Lexicon. Words have meaning and you need to know how it was used in that time period but that takes time to look into and I understand why many do not.

For me when looking for "proof" I tend to search among non-Christian sources. For instance the Ipuwer Papyrus experts believe it speaks of the Plagues of Egypt and then again some experts disagree. The back and forth can be an endless and it is all based on the experts bias because the lack of "conclusive evidence" so that is where faith comes in.

The entire Bible is based in faith and believing in the unseen. Man did not have direct evidence of atoms until 1955 (Dr Mueller) yet knew of them (believed in them) since 430BCE (Leucippus of Miletus). Its not the exact timing that is important its more of believing that they did happen.Faith..I mean we all have faith..we all believe we will get up in the morning its the reason most of us set our alarms...but I must digress as I believe I have caused thread drift and I need to get to work.

But one final thought that I find intriguing is that out all the world religions why are there so many experts, documentaries all trying to discredit the Christian faith. I do not see this kind of effort against Buddhism, Taoism, Islam etc. May your work week/time off treat you well.

The first 110,000 annual layers of snow in that ice core (GISP2) have been visually counted and corroborated by two to three different and independent methods as well as by correlation with volcanic eruptions and other datable events. Since the ice sheet would have floated away in the event of a global flood, the ice core is strong evidence that there was no global flood any time in the last 110,000 years.

The timeline in the Bible goes all the way to Jesus and the apostles. That means the story is off.

The ice rings are actually evidence for young earth if one is objective on how they collect and measure the rings - in short - they are averaged!!! Only a few thousand rings are clearly visible, the rest are averaged - go figure!

If somebody watches this video and is still in denial, there is a term for that "cognitive dissonance"
Because if they have the intellectual honesty to admit this happened, it crashes their entire life perspective, and they just can't let that happen, they are protecting themselves from the truth of reality.

Yet Jesus words at John 8:32 say "And you will know the truth and the truth will liberate you."

Maybe spend more time on the other side, ie, the one a Christian should be on - instead of looking for ways to defend your faith in science.

I'm not saying don't look at the science - do! But, spend just as much time if not more on ways to debunk the "science". I've found over and over again, many many times there's an explanation and another viewpoint that holds the bible true IN EVERYTHING. Spend time on the young earth evidence. There are scientists in God's corner too!

Thanks for trying, but it's a swing and a miss. There is no evidence of a 'young earth' as this fella claims. The Earth isn't 6,000 years old. The ice rings show 110,000 years ... not millions as he said. And all of science disagrees with him.

Did you read the article? It bascially validates what the video I linked says. After a certain depth, they use other methods - likely, just guesses and extrapolations.
