Unless McCarthy can pull off some last minute deal with the Freedom Caucus it sounds like he will not be Speaker by the end of the day. Rep. Jeffries is urging Dems not to vote to table the vote to vacate and are urging all Dems to vote in favor of ousting McCarthy.

Interesting. There were about 90 Rs that didn't vote for the CR. I assume there will be at least that voting Mccarthy out.

If every Dem votes to oust, Gaetz will only need 4 other Republicans to join him for the vote to pass.

motion to vacate is a simple majority

Is he allowed to run again if the motion to vacate succeeds?

Yep. But if he's being ousted by a majority it's very unlikely he'd get the votes to win the Speakership again.

I personally would like to see real change. Convention of states and institute real change.

A Convention of States would definitely result in real change - the utter destruction of our once great Nation.

Anyone who doesn't understand that any CoS would be completely taken over and compromised by the elites and our Constitution gutted beyond repair just hasn't thought things through.

There is one and only one precedent for this, and that is precisely what happened that time, except it was hijacked by some fairly decent good guys. If we try it again, I guarantee you it will be the likes of Klaus Schwab doing the rewriting.

McCarthy is a known quantity that might actually be willing to compromise on things.

That's the problem.

He's certainly a much better option than someone like Comer or Jordan.

Rotflmao! Of course you would say that. Jordan would be kicking ass and taking names. I like Comer too,

Does anyone understand that bafoon's motivations?

At least she isn't worried about the island of Guam tipping over.

Seriously, she's actually pretty smart, if you take off your TDS glasses and hearing modifiers...

We survived on CRs for nearly 8 years under Obama.

CR's are a tool used by those in power to provide cover for all of their corrupt deal making, and a show for the masses.

Below is something I just sent to Donald Trump's account on Truth social...

Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of Democrats, has just ordered all Democrats to vote for expelling Kevin McCarthy from the speakers chair.

President Trump, you can become speaker of the house if you want to. I'm sure you would have full support of every Republican.

And in January of 2025 you can resume being president again, because you will win the November 2024 presidential election.

👍 Just do it....please.

It amazes me how scared and misinformed ppl are about convention of states. Sadly you are deaf dumb and blind, our republic was destroyed a long time ago, it is completely unrecognizable now.

Convention could change that. The Constitution, unlike your belief is completely safe in that situation. The difference is that we the ppl choose, according to each state, who represents us, not the corrupt politicians we already have.

They also go with our specific agenda, like term limits etc.

It takes 32 states to pass and ratify. This literally means that only good, common sense changes will take place. And in no way can the original constitution be rewritten like ppl think, that is not what it is for or has the power to do.

Bottom line, this is the only way we take our ctry back without bloodshed or we could just split the republic, we are irrevocably divided anyway. Love to see these libertard states fail on their own without rest of us to bail them out all the time lol.
. Jefferson was right, paraphrase, from time to time it will take blood revolution to take back our republic and restore corrupt govt. So true... it is where we are now

Don't be skeered, you already lost your rights or have you not been paying attention or are a libertard lol

McCarthy lost his vote to table the motion of vacating his chair.

I'm guessing the vote to vacate will be along similar lines. Gaetz was only able to get a handful of Republicans to side with him.

I guess McCarthy should've stopped blaming Dems everytime he failed as leader. Then he might've kept his seat.

I think Ds are happy to do anything but work on the Biden issue they are facing, but your answer works fine too.

In a working, functional political party that serves the People, there are differences of opinion, members that hold other member accountable, and the resulting strife. In a dysfunctional party there is lockstep voting that serves the party (what communists call a "unified front"), and the resulting decent into tolerating the previously unthinkable lawlessness we see today. Democracy is chaotic, totalitarianism is orderly once the opposition is unconstitutionally eliminated.

Yes. The term "unified front" is a favorite of the CCP.

There are 212 Dems and they need 218 votes. I think there are currently 2 vacant seats in the House.

Can the Dems vote "present" without having to take an actual vote? I thought that was their plan.

There's currently 221 Republicans and 212 Democrats with two vacancies. The Dems plus five Republicans would give 217 against 216.

After they met this morning, the plan is now to vote in favor of ousting.

As a Republican, I hope McCarthy is gone. The Dems just want to use it as a way to say that the Republican Party is in total chaos. So be it. We need single line item votes for the budget. There is too much corruption involved in these mass bills that most people will never know what was in them.
