So who do you imagine that would be?

Because most of the dolts i see kicking about under Putin and holding his tails.

Are all just as mad as a bag of spanners as he is.

Are there any high-level Russian political players advocating for peace?

I would have thought the majority of such would have fallen from a window by now, to be honest.

Prigozhin was a shrewd operator I'm sure he would have taken into account that Putin would likely take his revenge , I wonder what contingency plans he put in place for this becoming reality.

With Wagner troops still in Belarus if I were Putin I think another layer of armour on his already armoured train may be a prudent move.

Belarus cut off internet for the wagner troops so they cant co ordinate a response fast to the assasination. If I would had been in charge,we would dress up as russian soldiers, and go into poland do a attack, then run back to balarus, swap into their clothes and blend in. getting russia in trouble with NATO article 5.

I Imagine he had a insurance policy to drop if Putin offed him.

....and what happens if your disguised men get shot in the melee???? You don't think their bodies would be identified?

There goes your "operation" just saying

Stuff like this......has a lot of moving parts ..

I dunno my man.....I just know there's a # ton of money to be made on both sides if it keeps going....

I wasn't trying to be a jerk ....I'm just cynical

They will always have money for war ManBehindTheMask.

Putin's war in Ukraine is no different from any other war on that score.

The thing is the damage being done to both nation's respective populations is pretty much irreversible.

When this is all over and done some places in both countries, will be lucky to find any able-bodied men under the age of 50 should things keep on progressing the way they are headed and people keep on dying in the numbers that they are.

By my guess Putin failed on day 3 of his ""special military operation"" as soon as his invasion farce was not welcomed with open arms and champagne cocktails that he thought they would be.

I don't think you are being a jerk, you're entitled to your opinion just like anyone else.

As to cynical, well i think most of us tick that box a wee bit, given the crap being perpetrated by all sides.

Cooler heads need to prevail, but chance would be a fine thing indeed.

I like explaining in allegories. :: You have a nice Rottweiler and he's a vicious dog, but with you he's as gentle as a lamb. Then you poke him in the eye with a hot needle and he goes from a gentle dog to a rabid manic dog, wanting to rip your head off, which he's quite capable of doing. What do you do?

Prigozhin and his followers tried a coup against Putin. Quite a few on ATS were cheering him on to succeed. He NEVER had any other backing than his own followers, that's why he failed. Now what would you do about it if you were Putin? If I were Putin he would have vanished ages ago.

With that in mind is it possible that Putin had nothing to do with this?

It's possible but I think unlikely , Prigozhin had become an irritant with his videos from the front line especially when he paraded a Russian army Commanded he accused of trying to kill his troops , he also insulted Putin calling him the "bunker grandfather" on video which I'm sure didn't go down well.
Let's not forget Dmitry Utkin , Wagner co-founder and Commander , was also on the plane.

For me the fact Prigozhin's march to Moscow started on the 23rd June and his life ended 23rd August is to strong a coincidence to be chance.

Russian telegram channels are trying to blame France, saying that they did it to get Wagner out of Africa and destabilize the threat to their holdings there.

It's no coincidence that the word "sabotage" is French.

the Russian Volunteer Corps, an all-Russian military unit fighting for victory for Ukraine and freedom for Russia, commanded by former Russian spetsnaz operators, have offered Wagner mercenaries to join them and march on Moscow together

The Russian Volunteer Corps make a strong point , work for those who killed your boss or join us and avenge his death.

If Prigozhin's core fighters heed that message and decide to go for revenge it could get very noisy in Moscow.

I think they would choose a soft target to do that prolly so the risk would be pretty low. And Wagner troops are mercs and have no real nation to call home and can be dis avowed.

In another kick in the teeth for Wagner it appears Wagner fighters graves in Russia's Samara region have been removed with building work apparently happening where the graves were , the video showing the scene was filmed by a Wagner supporter and posted to Telegram , video at link.

A video circulating on Russian Telegram channels and verified by Sky News shows a supporter of the group stood at a graveyard known to be where Wagner troops had been buried and was heard saying 'everything has been demolished'.

Fomenting discontent among the remaining Wagner troops?

I wonder if Putin makes a big deal of the people that have died who were associated with the Clinton family? Not saying Putin isn't a total dick for murdering people who cross him, but the USA is not particularly saintly either in these sorts of matters.

Those reasons all make it clear that it was only a matter of time before Putin acted, so they increase the likelihood that Mr P wanted to beat Putin to it.

However, the date coincidence does feel like a sneering signature; Putin letting others know it was him so it can serve as a warning. I don’t see Mr P wanting that coincidence if he were hoping to fool Putin into believing this was an accident.

Unless… he never thought Putin would believe it accident scenario anyhow, so instead wanted Putin to consider that the CIA had done it to frame Putin. Not sure what the CIA would gain from that, though… sorry, thinking out loud here. You’re right, most likely it was Putin.

but who benefits? at this time we are trying to reach logical conclusions from a chalice already under total censorship. The only logical conclusion that can be drawn, is two flags that come up in boring regularity on two certain subject lines directing the observer to the official truth. Climate change...and Covid information. The two are linked deeply and will direct all actions in the forthcoming future. Both subjects are causing misery and depopulation. Anyone who interferes with the narrative as it unfolds will most likely be deleted. The assassination of the heads of the Wagner organization is just tidying up a loose cannon that could gain popular support and stop the unfolding process. A worldwide coup seems to have taken place, the only opposition is controlled. The war in Ukraine should have started a nuclear exchange under the old rules of combat, in fact by now vast areas and cities should be nuclear wastelands. It is obvious that the intellectual thugs have taken over as there is no debate in open forums. Simply because logic would destroy them. So get ready for chaos as the system that has taken over is devoid of an encompassing reason that humanity actually needs to maintain an inclusive coherence.

I presume that Mad Vlad has good bodyguards who aren't former mercs. Otherwise he's already playing dice with Death.
Remember the days when people thought that he was a 5-D chess maestro, and it turned out that he's really a bloodthirsty moron with delusions of relevance?
