Sorta a mutually parasitic assurance this isn't really fixable.

One glance at comments here show what the homophobia, trans and LGBTQ hatred looks like. People scared of people being unlike them. I am glad to not be like them, my heart is as open as my mind.

This hatred and violence really needs to stop. It's heartbreaking to read that this loved member of one of our communities, who was not even gay but was just trying to help others, was shot and killed in front of her own business.
A dispute over an LGBTQ+ pride flag at a California clothing store spiraled into deadly violence this weekend when a man shot and killed the 66-year-old business owner right in front of her shop, authorities said.
The man ran away from the store after the shooting Friday night but was later found and killed in a confrontation with officers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The agency said Laura Ann Carleton was pronounced dead at Mag.Pi, the store she owned and operated in Cedar Glen. The small community in the San Bernadino Mountains is roughly 60 miles (96 kilometers) east of downtown Los Angeles.
Before the shooting, the man “made several disparaging remarks about a rainbow flag that stood outside the store,” sheriff’s officials said.
They got him, but it's too late. A husband and nine children are now without a family member, because some idiot fell for the political outrage over the LGBTQ community and decided the answer was to kill someone in broad daylight.
How do we stop this? Should we hold the politicians responsible for stoking the flames and enabling this?

The killer has been identified as Travis Ikeguchi. He had a history of posting anti-LGBTQ+ comments on his social media. In fact, his pinned Tweet is a burning Pride flag.
The shooting occurred after Carleton confronted Ikeguchi for tearing down the Pride flag.
As I said pages ago, the motive was pretty clear cut in this case.

I wish that I knew a quick-sketch cartoonist.
Rodney King in the upper background "Can't we all just get along?"
Groups (2 or more) in lower foreground, pointing at each other, "They won't let us!"

While I know this was likely a thread of juxtaposition from the other angle, and had the best intent, my suggestion is for everyone to stop cherry-picking LGBT themed news stories to pander to an increasingly divisive demographic with. Step one to stopping it.
Unfortunately, "Grandmother killed over LGBT Flag" triggers the colosseum effect in too wide a range of people and the ratings are too good. Regardless of their moralizing over it.
No one is changing s# about this. Unless there's a magic pill for all forms of herd mentallity and grandstanding (Now known as virtue signaling).
You're not going to stop sensationalism unless you ignore it, and you won't stop the polarized lunatic outliers and psychotic acts of martyrdom until you stop feeding their hysteria with sensationalism. Sorta a mutually parasitic assurance this isn't really fixable.
