you'd have a point if they where making money hand over fist but they are not, I've no idea of your age but we've been here before when seeking to be new, edgy and cause offence there is a point it also becomes boring, dull and blends into being pap, which is what is happening across the board on many topics, Americans are really obvious as they've pivoted from in your face violence to in your face sex, so my first thought was this was one of those porno snow white films.

in terms of the loss of edginess we can see it really clearly in art and architecture.. when the modern and edgy becomes dull and boring it reignites a love of the old.. very little remains of brutal modernism because no one liked it and it can't stand the test of time. its obvious to the outside world when the passion for the art is lost..

At anytime have I ever got upset about being called woke? The answer to that is no. But I can't stand when people say things they can't explain the meaning. And he/she immediately refused to answer and made an odd accusations that I may somehow be woke.
I always perceived woke as just don't be a rude nut. You helped me understand it more and I sincerely did thank you. I personally don't throw terms around that I don't understand. I also know that people have grabbed onto that term as a blanket term that can have many definitions depending on whom you ask.

Is it correct to suggest that changing Snow White and other Grimm stories to be non-White is a form of cultural appropriation?

I may be generalizing a bit with this thought and rambling but...

In MSM/Hollywood the current theme is everything inclusiveness and diversity. I think in the true sense of those words that would be a positive. However that's not the way its defined by them now.

Turn on your cable or streaming service. You will find several sections prominently displayed for black cinema, latin programming, lgbtq films for example. (I will forgo my thoughts on the sexual nature of the lgbtq section for now, other than simply saying our culture is way too sexualized.)

Where is the white American programming block?

Some may say that anglos dominated that sphere of influence for decades, this is true. Have we not moved past that 2,3,4 decades ago?
And is the US population not still majority white?

While there still may be more programming geared towards white Americans, they don't push anyone to take pride in that, nor should they. They do push all other group pride though, it creates divisiveness.

I'm all for movies or whatever that are predominantly black or asian or latino or whatever. I do have a problem with blatantly taking whiteness out of things then.

Everything is (state group here) pride.

Well except white people, if you say your proud of your ethnicity you are probably a racist terrorist, according to MSM.

While whiteness is being erased from stories of Snow White and Cleopatra. They are pushing for everyone to take pride in their ethnicity and to make it part of their identity. And pushing the white guilt hard in MSM and schools. But it's not just white guilt they're pushing, they are justifying anti white racism by doing so.

I would love to say most Americans or Westerners can find a common ground that could unite us. Alas I think that point has probably past and the societal and cultural implosion of the West is in full swing.

However part of me feels the narrative is pushed by some powerful and sinister forces, only propped up by loud and ignorant minorities. (talking percentages of populations not ethnicity or whatever) I have this small sense optimism because on a day to day basis in the real world I still see more unity and love, than the hatred. But it feels like a powder keg.

The more complaints there are the more enflamed those that think this is the right course and they will continue to produce it for their equally enflamed audience. Don't support it, overt complaining just turns it into one of the hot-button topics. 

Not that it matters here on ATS with its small footprint but at some point in TRW, we need to realize TPTB wants us divided and fighting.

It keeps the masses occupied while TPTB consolidates its power and influence and is robbing us blind. More importantly, it keeps us all from asking questions on topics that affect all of us together.

Like taxes, the budget, and the decline of the safety and cleanliness of our cities, take a real look at the CURRENT healthcare, insurance, and prescriptions paradigm it's broke AF itself and is a damn sight more important than this crap regardless of which 'side" you are on.

So Woke, or Wokeness was mostly invented by the left to suggest they were aware of their progressiveness. As we passed through 2016 the right has used it too in the same way, but now as more of a way to describe the extreme left that acts more along the lines of "performative activism," and where political correctness has gone awry as to what we have been seeing these last few years now.

They'll be brown Snow White, whose HEART is pure as the driven snow, probably, t-shirts, dresses, underpants, lunch boxes and sippy cups, dolls, costumes, you name it, they'll be selling it.....People will eat it up!

I am not obliged to give answers to obvious questions. If you have a question you can open the dictionary and see what woke means.

But the point of this conversation is the lengths some of these companies/organisations go to satisfy policies, political correctness, and their woke crowd.

I honestly feel it is mostly White people that have worked themselves into a position of hating themselves that they are White. If the real world was like the shows now then 90% of us would be LGBTQIA and Blacks would be 60%+ of the population and not 12%, while Latinos/Asians would be well below their population percentages too. I was watching a show and there was only one White straight guy who just happened to be the one asshole of the show. Everyone else is having their LGBTQIA fun and this one poor guy was just left out and looked down on by everyone else. At one point I just had to laugh.

There is nothing wrong with this reimagining at all, hopefully, it means more kids and entertained and learn the story.

Was he gay? Romans had a very different sexual culture than what we would see as a norm. He had many more female sexual partners than males, and the few were very close friends from his younger years, so it seems the Romans formed closer bonds with long-time male friends, but also didn't shy away from many female partners too.

This snow must've come from a NY parking lot in March where they make huge piles that turn black. This is rewriting stories and a degradation of whoever authors such pieces. If you don't like the characters in a story pick a different story.

When I worked in the restaurant industry people gave me the nickname "snow white." Literally, because I have naturally very pale skin, dark hair, and would wear red lipstick. I often have a tan now from working outside, I have blond hair to cover the gray, and I only wear red lipstick on occasion. Guess what! No one calls me that anymore. Just as no one would call a brown girl snow white, it doesn't fit.

People associate the character with a white girl, it even says so in the book. I swear to God, it's becoming very apparent that there is a definite trend to send white people to the back of the bus, so to speak. I truly believe some of these people won't be happy until they feel the playing field is leveled, and their version isn't exactly level. White people are headed toward minority status in this country due to the birth rates declining. Will those people be happy then? Eye for an eye and all that? So sick of the division.

I don't care, make your movies however you see fit, but stop pretending like there isn't an agenda here, just freakin own it already!
