The issue is you are not being consistent. So you are ok with a someone who plays sports getting accepted with say a lower test score? You just don't want other minorities to have a lower test score? So you don't question your doctor's qualifications if he played lacrosse and got accepted.... but you question your doctors qualifications if they are black? Either you want schools to be able to develop the class they see fit or you don't and want them to select admits based on test scores alone.

That's basically what they were doing... but race is a factor in making the decision.

In short, Leftist/Liberals believe in equity over equality. That equality can be forced by enforcing equity, which ruins any real chance of having true equality.

Conservatives like me, understand that if you have true equality it will breed equity.
We want smaller government and less taxes. The only way to achieve that is to have true equality. If ALL Americans are doing better, it is a win for conservatives.

Next stop: Gender ideology in schools and universities. It's unconstitutional and its political and ideological indoctrination. Therefore it must be outlawed! Together with references to white supremacy and privilege.

If you have 1000 admissions spots but 10,000 applicants. 8000 of those applicants have scored near perfect SATs and have near perfect GPAs.

How do you choose the 1000 admits? Even if you just ranked on GPA and test scores, you still have like 5000 applications with same scores/GPA. How do you then pick the 1000 admits?

Trial by combat from the qualified applicants.

It is the only just solution.

Seriously, I didn't mean to insult you. I apologize. I was making a point about statistics regarding number of applicants and other admissions factors which is why I stated an asian interested in a creative field may have a better shot than a stereotypical asian who wants to be a doctor or engineer.

We also need to stop categorizing people.
We are Americans. Some of us are good at art, some at sports, some at math.
We need to look beyond skin period.

& if you are saying it’s so much more than skin color, then what’s the problem, this struck down shouldn’t make a bit of difference…..

If you were to ask me who are the best students right now, I would say Asians. I think that would also be a true statement based on what is reported inside and outside the US. Korea and Japan are tops in world higher education ranking.

If you ask me who are the smartest people.. I wouldn’t be so quick. I would say it depends.
I wouldn’t want a doctor if all the lights go out and we have no electricity. I would then think a survivalist is smartest. I wouldn’t want an engineer growing my food, I’d want a really old farmer. If I needed my car worked on, the best accountant in the world might not be able to fix it. If I did need an engineer I would pick a German any day of the week.

Since we are talking about college and admission, I just want grades, merit, other activities to count. Let’s completely forget about what people look like.

Lol. Reminds of a quick story: We had a change of command at my first duty station, about midway through my enlistment. Doesn't usually happen that often, but Clinton at the time was shuffling the deck and there was a lot of personnel changes throughout my term.

Well...

No one was ready. People were out of shape, out of uniform, one guy marching in my line during the parade had on business dress shoes with tassels swinging away in the wind, a couple rows behind me someone had taps on their shoes lol.

It was so bad. Lol. Sorry, just a funny memory..

All of a sudden, every Asian, musican prodigy, 4.1 AP student, with loads of extracurriculars will not longer have to settle for UC Riverside because the Asian quota at all the other UC schools was already maxed out at 40%.

If they are mandated to select ONLY the best candidates, The UC System is going to be majority Asian within 5 years. The white kids will like Cal State Fullerton and Dominguez Hills just fine though.

But I agree, at least it rewards the best qualified candidate now.

That's mainly The UC System. Not intended as commentary beyond that.

It's notorious for loads of Chinese kids on student visa's. A few years back, many of the Chinese students at UCSD lost their minds when The Dalai Lama was made the commencement speaker. They may be students in America, but they speak Mandarin, and retain Chinese Nationalist views.

Finally their scores, because of the rigors of the Chinese Education system, blow the scores of most US kids out of the freaking water.

It's currently VERY hard for 4.0 Asian students to get into the UC System school of choice because of the quotas in place and the amount of them there are, all with exemplary credentials. With this barrier removed the US kids mostly stand no chance of outqualifying their rich Chinese and 1st or 2nd generation asian-american counterparts.

Not trying to say Non-asian California kids are stupid, as much as Asian kids are every bit the stereotype of overachievment.

For California, it feels like laying an inroad for the interests of Beijing to exert themselves more through student organization. I can't speak for the amount of Asians in other states and systems though.

This may backfire, and send most non-asians to the Cal State System.

But no. That's not cool. San Diego has like 55 murders a year in a city of 1.4 million. If we were given to Mexico there's no awesome barrier keeping Tijuana problems on the side mercy forgot existed.

We have been held to the HIGHEST standard unfairly, while others are ushered in.

I honestly have always thought it was because Asians were raised from an early age to value education above all else and aspired to be the best they could be academically. Families would send their children to the USA because of our advanced universities and they were always the highest achievers.

As a parent I envied Asians' ability to instill this mindset in their children. You've popped my bubble of delusion.
