The jet of the Belarus Dictator Lukashenko family took off from Belarus earlier today and reportedly flew to Turkey.

Upon entering Russian airspace, the aircraft turned off the transponders and turned them on only over Kalmykia, when exiting Russia.

rumours on telegram out of Belarus are saying Putin ordered Lukashenko and his army to launch a nuclear weapon at Ukraine and he refused.

No, the smartest thing for Ukraine to do now is press its advantage at this point. As Russian soldiers on the front come to learn of these goings ons, do you think they will be as scared as before of the Russian military command and the Putin government? I don't. I think they will run or surrender in droves or join the Wagner forces and pull out of Ukraine. And the more veteran soldiers in the further back lines ordered to fire on retreating fellow soldiers will feel a lot less inclined to do so, as they won't fear reprisal as much either.

Assuming this coup/nascent civil war keeps growing, the Russian lines will collapse. I've been cautious of my estimation of how the war is going, but this seems likely to be the needle that breaks the camel's back. Russia suffered a similar collapse in WWI, and from relatively recent historical precedents, we know that authoritarian regimes can collapse in a period of days. That is what happened to the Ceaușescu regime in Romania, and it is what happened in a much less bloody way throughout the Soviet block back in 1991. Paraphrasing Stephen Kotkin, dictatorships are all-powerful until they are not; they rely on the appearance of all-powerfulness, but when this illusion fails, the regime collapses.

I think Prigozhin and his forces have the upper hand. They are more battle hardened, and he knows the real lay of the land, whereas the leaders back in the Kremlin are fed BS from subordinates who aim to please their superiors. Prigozhin has groomed his image with his fellow countrymen and women. Whether or not he is one, he acts and looks like a man of the people, unlike Putin and his Kremlin coterie. For better or worse, he is a bit of a Caesar or Napoleon figure, a man of action capable of summoning a groundswell of support from the common people. Which is what you need in a coup or civil war.

Am curious what is playing on the Russian airwaves. Swan Lake perhaps? Would love to see what the Russian propaganda shows are saying now.

And where, oh where are all the ATS Putin fanbois? Chirping crickets and rolling tumbleweeds.

Similarly, I can't wait to see and hear what the likes of Scott Ritter, Colonel MacGregor, Redacted, the Duran and Alexander Mercouris will be spouting in the next couple of days on YT. Their fans are going to need to mainline some copium.

He is doing this because Putin's forces did an airstrike on some of his men, with heavy casualties. In addition, Russia has not been supplying his men with supplies or ammunition as agreed.

I realize people on ATS have a fetish for evil, but I am still against Putin, I hope he gets overthrown.

Seems a key question is what the Russian air force will do. It could do a lot of damage to either side or both. It might also want to stay out of the fracas, as a lot of collateral civilian casualties would be a bad look, and it doesn't want to end up on the wrong side -- or rather the generals in charge of it don't. It would also be easy to put the AF out of business by ground forces overrunning airbases. And both sides likely want to preserve the AF for national defense, and currently it is hard to get replacement parts involving high-tech electronics.

A glorious day for Ukraine and a fitting scenario for putin.

An angry Putin has addressed the nation vowing retaliation.


British MOD says some Wagner forces heading for Moscow , which suggest they haven't met with any resistance in Rostov-on-Don.

In the last few minutes we have had an intelligence update from the UK's Ministry of Defence.

It says some Wagner units "are moving north through Vorenezh Oblast, almost certainly aiming to get to Moscow".

Vorenezh lies halfway between the capital Moscow and Rostov-on-Don, the Russian city that the Wagner mercenary group claims it now controls. The UK MoD says Wagner has "almost certainly" occupied key sites in Rostov-on-Don.

The update describes this rebellion as "the most significant challenge to the Russian state in recent times".

It describes the feud as escalating into an "outright military confrontation", and says Wager Group forces "crossed from occupied Ukraine into Russia in at least two locations".

It also says some Russian troops "have likely remained passive, acquiescing to Wagner".

"Over the coming hours, the loyalty of Russia’s security forces, and especially the Russian National Guard, will be key to how the crisis plays out."

It is interesting that he says the AF is continuing its war efforts against Ukraine. Wagner is not going to get in the way of the war effort. Just going on to Moscow to clean house in the Kremlin.
