Prigozhin must know he has the support.

Or at least had the resources and clout to leave in exile.

If he does, I don’t think the oligarch class will want him sought after. It would set a precedent where they can be targets too for opposing Putin (some already have).

They’re taking a big hit through all this too right as they were becoming some of the richest people in the world. Now they’re looking at a possible decline of Russia.

Heard some top officials plan to flee to Uruguay and Putin can't be reached. Of course unconfirmed.

Prizoghin is claiming to have 25,000 armed men at his disposal as he crosses the border into Russia.

Now that may or may not be true, but if it is it not only poses a huge threat domestically but it will also have a massive impact on Russia's ability to defend the Ukraine counter-offensive etc.
If other militia's/mercenaries and regular Russian Army forces decide to join him it will certainly pose a very live threat to Putin, his advisors and the Oligarchs.

Imagine if he takes power and dials back on the war. He would probably be in the good graces or the world, west, and the oligarchs. He could easily be viewed as one of the most influential figures in the beginning of this century….

Or he may seek his legacy on the battlefield. I could easily see this too.

The Dam has broken. A trickle flows.

Will the Flood soon follow?

I had a "feeling" from the first time I saw Prigozhin's photo on these forums, that I was seeing the next Russian "President". He has (tried) to align himself with the Russian people, as opposed to the Russian (Putin) government, which could backstop his efforts significantly.

When I read these boards earlier today (before lunch here on the West coast US), there was no hint of such potentially monumental developments.

How quickly the Winds of Fate can turn!

If Prigozhin takes power.

Would He also assume control of Russia's nuclear arsenal?

Perhaps the real question is...

Would the Russian regular military (who Putin has ostensibly placed in opposition to Prigozhin and his forces) Allow Prigozhin to have such control?

Without the threat of its nukes, the big, scary Russian Bear becomes more a "hangry" "Winnie the Pooh"!

And let's not forget what a victory in Ukraine could likely do for US president Biden's upcoming re-election campaign.

Guess this accounts for the road closure ,looks like they're expecting visitors.

According to Russian media, a plan known as "Operation Fortress" has been activated in the city of Rostov-on-Don - which lies about 100km east of the Ukrainian border.

Essentially, it is a plan for personnel to be in "full readiness"

There’s nothing but uncertainty in this.

It could end the war or accelerate it.

Everyone has always said Putins replacement could very well be more dangerous, this man could easily fit that bill.

Interesting times we live in.

Prighozin's end game has been pretty clear over the past few weeks. I just didn't think he would be the one to pull the trigger.

In his recent videos he's been very careful to avoid blaming Putin for anything. Instead he's set himself in effect opposition to Shoigu. A man he must assume is his direct competition for Putin's throne.

I thought he might have credible Intel that a civil uprising was imminent and that he would make his move at that point.

Regardless, the perfect facade that Putin has spent the last 20+ years cultivating has been shattered. Putin's authority came his mythical status and seemingly godlike infallibility. That's all gone now. He's a mortal with weaknesses. And now those weaknesses are going to be exploited by the men who seek to take his place.

If his claims that the Russian military shelled his troops is true I think it's the Kremlin who pulled the trigger and Prighozin has responded to that , add this to the land mine attack on his troops a few weeks ago and the capture of a Russian commander plus the threats from the Russian MOD requiring his troops to sign their contract and the cork is well and trully out of the bottle.

I have a feeling Progy (Prizoghin) won't be alive come Monday morning.
You don't start a coup miles from the capital.
And you don't start a successful one without a lot of prior planning.
Jumping on a BTR and run screaming down the road is not a plan.

Again that depends on what support he has , if Russian troops want to engage Wagner , if not his road to the Kremlin is clear.

Warning from the governor of Rostov region to stay indoors.

In the last few moments the governor of Russia's Rostov region - which borders Ukraine to the east - has urged citizens to stay indoors.

Writing on Telegram Vasily Golubev said: "The current situation requires the maximum concentration of all forces to maintain order.

"Law enforcement agencies are doing everything necessary to ensure the safety of residents of the area.

"I ask everyone to stay calm and do not leave the house without the need."
