There was a time in the past when neighborhood kids were paid to mow lawns and help them get ahead for whatever they needed or wanted. I consider that supporting a family too.

We aren’t talking about the past, we are talking about today and today’s issues.

Let’s talk Florida since this is where it’s happening. There is a placed called The Villages. It is a community of people that are 55+ (it was also know as the std capital of Florida but that’s another story)
Take a stab at how many people live in the village???? 80,000, that’s right, that’s a good chunk of people.

Guess how many teens live in the Villages? From 0-1%, you know why??? It’s an old people’s community and although not explicitly said, they don’t like children and teens.

So do tell me, how are teens supposed to mow the lawns of 80,000++++ people, in a gigantic community?

Let me let you in on another secret… How many Americans do you think are taking care of those lawns????

Buwahahahha.

The underlying message to my last post on the kids mowing lawns thing, is that immigrants also need to feed their families and that is today and the main reason they are coming to America.

Why is it on the American taxpayer to support them? What other country supports illegal immigration like we are currently?

Oh that’s a good question.
I don’t think we should. I also don’t think we should support “healthy” people that can’t work because of their own doing, ie; obesity, having 9 kids, etc.

There are now robotic lawn mowers on the horizon so this is threatening these landscaper's jobs too.

And that's progress and capitalism. Why should I pay more for something that I can get done just as well? Would you? Would any sane person?

I know, that is why they tried to occupied parking lots and build tent cities, I remember when my daughter told me that they were asking for vouchers to live in hotels, that was hilarious, this is because back when the hurricane hit the area the city were doing that for the homeless residents, no immigrants.

Right now what is going on in the US is not "immigration" is an invasion and about to get worst tomorrow

Is incomprehensible how our tax dollars are going to support this invasion.

For the record, I just got some people to come haul junk for me for pretty cheap. It was a white guy and a black guy. Pretty sure they're US citizens.

My dad has someone who cuts his lawn. White guy. I know for a fact he's a citizen because I grew up with his son.

The idea that you can ONLY get illegals to do this kind of work is demonstrably false.

Is there a reason all the old timers decided to congregate in one area? I've heard of old people's communities within larger cities or towns but this seems excessive in the extreme.

Sounds a really weird place.

There is a problem with any of these electronic gizmos. They are not made for cold climates. Even the battery operated mowers they sell now are not made for cold climates. You have to figure a way to store them in a climate controlled area during the cold season or have battery issues.

So you're complaining about something that didn't happen? Florida didn't hand out anyone money.

If illegal immigrants can't get driving licenses does it not stand to reason junk haulers would not be immigrants?

There's a remote snowblower I have my eye on, it's good for -40*. I'm thinking they can make a mower like this too.

Pretty sure no one wants to do my driveway at -40*.

I’ll be blunt, it is a place where all the cotton tops go to have one last party and have a lot of uh hemmmm “relations” and be away from children and teens.

Maybe they can but they don’t, don’t ask me how I know.

We purchased one and had nonstop battery issues. I wrote a review saying I wish we would have stuck with JD, and I won’t even go into the specifics of what they did to get me to remove that review, but they did. I don’t mean threatening either, I mean the $$$$ they spent.

I guess a lot of people did not notice about 500k Puerto Ricans have come to Central Florida after Hurricane Maria. Plenty of labor for the needs of farming, hospitality and construction here in Florida.

It used to be Mexicans and many of them were illegals, they are still here, just not in the numbers of the PR that was immigrated since 2017.

Tent cities are everywhere now in Central Florida and crime is skyrocketing. The infrastructure is not here.

The part that is hard is that those who have immigrated get money from the government, money for housing and many do not work so you have a large population living but not helping with jobs.

We do not need anymore in Florida and glad that DeSantis signed this.

I have lived in Florida for over forty years. The one thing that we have never had is a shortage of illegal immigrants. I know for a fact, and I shall not name names, that they are still coming in by the hundreds. I have seen them with my own eyes by the school bus loads.

In fact where I live now, there are so many illegal immigrants that those that are now here legally, are having issues with them. And not just from Mexico.

It has also caused an increased load on our law enforcement, because of the number of case we get for human trafficking, both child, sexual, and labor trafficking.

When Americans start to feel the pains of depression, it will get even worse, because they will then be competing with illegals for the pennies a day they will be willing to work to put beans and rice on the table.

Florida will never have a shortage of illegal immigrants, no laws have kept them away. Making more immigration laws will have the same amount of effect as increasing the gun laws.

Criminals don't care about no stinking laws.

OF Course this is regional, and that’s the issue. Some areas (like mine, like Florida) have an aging population and not enough workers. Other areas may have too many young people and not enough jobs, but they don’t want to move.
It sounds like your area is good to go, you probably don’t need immigrants. That is wonderful.

Other places like Florida have been using immigrant labor for a long time, they are literally the backbone of a lot of industries. They are going to find out how many. Maybe it can be replace by the population there, I doubt it.
I don’t see too many people wanting to pick fields.

Where I live is the same issue, elderly population and just not enough influx of youth. We need something.

I really do think this will depend on if they actually do give fines and such or is this all for show?
We’re going to find out!

www.ncsl.org...

These states—California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Washington—issue a license if an applicant provides certain documentation, such as a foreign birth certificate, foreign passport, or consular card and evidence of current residency in the state.

In 2022, Rhode Island enacted legislation extending driver’s licenses and identification cards to those without proof of lawful presence (SB 2006/HB 7939). In addition to Rhode Island, the Massachusetts legislature overrode the Governor’s veto of their bill allowing those without proof of lawful presence to obtain driver’s licenses (SB 4822/HB 4805). In the 2022 midterm election, Massachusetts voters were asked via ballot measure (Q4) whether the state should keep or repeal the new immigrant driver’s license law, and voters ultimately elected to uphold it.

In 2023, Minnesota became the most recent state to enact legislation allowing individuals to get driver’s licenses without proof of lawful presence (HB 4/SB 27).
