I didn't know that. I just work on the back end stuff, I don't move posts or anything. Do you think we should rename Election 2020 to 2024 or create a new forum for 2024 election stuff? I don't know the posting history there and I take it you're more familiar than I am. What do you think?

I can tell you with almost 100 percent certainty that the largest vocal concern here is transparency.

What's going on, what's going to happen, intentions, direction etc.

We obviously are a very inquisitive group and even mostly understanding. So even a little goes a long way.

The site is working better than it has in years and it certainly sounds like you have some ideas in mind.

We'd love to hear em!

This most definitely.... specifically one small question and /or request...

Elections 2024 is on the horizon, everything 2024-related is now getting crammed into the 2020 Elections folder. Yes, I know most of us loathe the saturation of political threads, and I do too, but generally, Political threads end up in the 2020 Election, US Political Madness, or the Mud Pit forums. 2 out of the 3 have negative connotations and the other is only related to 2020 because it looks like 4 years and 330 million people 2024 will have quite literally 2020's Thing 1 and Thing 2 made famous by Dr.Suess, but I digress

Can we get an Elections 2024 folder by next year, if possible?

I would suggest two folders as the 2020 Election has a life of its own and there will likely still be news stories germane to 2020 to be posted there.

Thus a 2020 Elections folder and a 2024 Elections folder. As for my experience with the 2020 Election folder, LOL I try to avoid it all together thus the request.

Apologies though it sounded as if in other posts in the thread content questions were getting discussed. Nothing is worse when one is discussing generalities, and somebody asks an unrelated specific question.

Hi Darko, instead of repeating my experience of mobile/desktop view, can I please point you to a thread where Hecate666 had been having issues with the two views.

I tried to help, giving some advice and demonstrating the comportment on my phone...

Terry's a good bloke, although his politics are a bit suspect.

Come back Terry!

Also, whose hand do I have to shake to get a tally on my user complaints?

Are they rookie numbers?

All they've done in the past is rename that forum to the current year.

Look back at some threads and you'll see real old topics dated years ago.😎

Thanks for the info. I will look to see if I can find anything because I noticed that on my side too but I just thought it was because I have an admin account.

Thank you. There may be some process that controls that which was either depreciated or needs to be reactivated or repaired. I can take a look and see what I can find but no ones been actively updating the site in a long long time. I know I've received a lot of inquiries about the PM button lighting up when there is a PM. Then I found out the original owners turned that off because it was causing DB issues. So I don't know if they turned that off too or if it's something that needs to be fixed. Do you have any estimate about how long it hasn't been working? Has it ever worked? The more info you can give me the better. Thank you!

I wish you would have left the original message because it really helps to understand user concerns. I didn't know about the policy written above but I can say with certainty that I would like to encourage more informational posts and articles from people. There is a brilliant community here and I'd really like to see more in-depth and researched posts and less opinions or complaining about the world in general. So, we're currently working on ways to incentivize that and also making sure people feel comfortable expressing themselves and their thoughts without being attacked. So... let me know your concerns! I'm a position where I can address them. Cheers!

You know how when you login (I'm usually on mobile so I don't know if it is the same on desktop i can check later) it says:

Welcome back, Antimony. You either just logged in, or stumbled onto this page for some unknown reason.

There have been 0 new topics created since you were last here.

You have received no private messages since you were last here.

You have no replies to your posts since you were last here.

Well when I login, it ALWAYS says that there are no new topics, no private messages, no replies to my post, even when there have been new topics, replies and messages. Is that a problem with my browser or something with the site? Because at first I was missing replies to my posts and messages since I didn't have any notification of them, but now I just check repeatedly to see if anyone has replied or messaged me and that is not ideal, but I can live with it or maybe change browsers. I don't want to use Chrome though.

I don't think it has worked for me at all since I joined not too long ago because it always has said no new threads, no new replies, no new messages every time I login even though there were new messages and replies. But like I said I wasn't sure if it was my browser or the site itself.

Forgive me if this is a dumb suggestion from a non-techy person-but could you set up a generic account for yourself so you can see what's going on from a general user's perspective when trying things?

Re Antimony's query. I remember when that format of the log-in page was introduced, and I'm confident that the count of "new topics, new messages" etc. was never activated. The figure has always been Zero. So it looks as though it was part of the original plan, and the page was worded accordingly; when the idea was dropped for whatever reason, the wording was not changed.

Putnam is right about the 2020 election having a life of it's own.

Perhaps a "21st Century Elections" might be prudent. It would be able to adapt to each election cycle as it occurs.

NOTICE: AboveTopSecret.com management is now enforcing new standards for the opening posts of threads.

Opening posts that contain minimal content, links with little or no explanation, YouTube videos with no commentary, images with little or no commentary, and similar nominal content may be removed without warning or explanation. If your topic is important to you, make sure you explain why, with links and supporting material so that our members may offer more relevant contributions, and ultimately, better threads. In fact, if you have less to say than this simple notice, then you probably do not have enough to start a new thread. Thank you for your assistance in helping to create great threads on ATS.

When you click this form-field, this message will disappear.

Uh
Wow

I may be wrong, as Terry removed his original post, but I was actually thinking about this "pop up" as I read through a thread by a new Administrator.
I shouldn't of said anything in their thread but.....I did.
The post was removed, as it should have been.
I feel this may be a better place for the suggestion that was removed.
This is not exact but close:
"A thread like this would have been removed, if posted by another member.
There is a process for new members that works VERY well.
You introduce yourself, get the correct number of needed post and then you make a thread.
This gives you the ins and outs of the site"

The process is there to help new members learn their way around.
The thread creation "pop up" is there to prevent threads with limited explanation, lacking detail and information.
Rules, like law, work best when applied to everyone.

Transparency indeed...

It seem different here somehow. I don't need to know the details, an overview of the direction would be nice. Will it still remain a conspiracy site or go completely political? And will the delicious cookies still be available?

Personally- I think there is zero transparency, more censorship, and deepsixing threads for no real good reason. Not only threads but replies as well. "Precent thread drift" is bs, and it just looks like parenting the threads most of the time.

Yes I know, been here since 2005, but 2020 Election issues are still floating out there in the ether, in the news, and it is definitely still a hot topic here on ATS. True or false?
