NOTICE: AboveTopSecret.com management is now enforcing new standards for the opening posts of threads.

Opening posts that contain minimal content, links with little or no explanation, YouTube videos with no commentary, images with little or no commentary, and similar nominal content may be removed without warning or explanation. If your topic is important to you, make sure you explain why, with links and supporting material so that our members may offer more relevant contributions, and ultimately, better threads. In fact, if you have less to say than this simple notice, then you probably do not have enough to start a new thread. Thank you for your assistance in helping to create great threads on ATS.

When you click this form-field, this message will disappear.

I wish you would have left the original message because it really helps to understand user concerns. I didn't know about the policy written above but I can say with certainty that I would like to encourage more informational posts and articles from people. There is a brilliant community here and I'd really like to see more in-depth and researched posts and less opinions or complaining about the world in general. So, we're currently working on ways to incentivize that and also making sure people feel comfortable expressing themselves and their thoughts without being attacked. So... let me know your concerns! I'm a position where I can address them. Cheers!

I can tell you with almost 100 percent certainty that the largest vocal concern here is transparency.

What's going on, what's going to happen, intentions, direction etc.

We obviously are a very inquisitive group and even mostly understanding. So even a little goes a long way.

The site is working better than it has in years and it certainly sounds like you have some ideas in mind.

We'd love to hear em!

This, this, a hundred times this.

It's a conspiracy site provided for free so most members (not all) don't have unrealistic expectations, but a little more and clearer communication would make the vast majority much happier and more likely to be positive and constructive about changes.

I have nothing else to offer other than to say I am in 100% total agreement with you.
That is it in a nutshell.

because he had negative things to say about how the site was being run.

Ideas sit better with everyone when they are not just stated as negative .
Positive ideas for how that we would like to see things in the future , and not condemning how it is now.

You know how when you login (I'm usually on mobile so I don't know if it is the same on desktop i can check later) it says:

Welcome back, Antimony. You either just logged in, or stumbled onto this page for some unknown reason.

There have been 0 new topics created since you were last here.

You have received no private messages since you were last here.

You have no replies to your posts since you were last here.

Well when I login, it ALWAYS says that there are no new topics, no private messages, no replies to my post, even when there have been new topics, replies and messages. Is that a problem with my browser or something with the site? Because at first I was missing replies to my posts and messages since I didn't have any notification of them, but now I just check repeatedly to see if anyone has replied or messaged me and that is not ideal, but I can live with it or maybe change browsers. I don't want to use Chrome though.

We're working on fixing up the site. I'm not sure what kind of grand plan you all think is going on in the background but there isn't. I spent what, 6 or 8 hours speaking to people about how they felt about the pit and managed to find a solution to keep it online but off the other pages. Had I not stepped in, it would have just been shut down.

What would you all be happy to hear? Because I can tell you whatever but it won't be true.

In regard to banning people, no one gets banned for a single post. There are some users with over 200 user complaints, off topic replies, posts removed / moved to the trash bin etc. etc. So while it may look like it was due to a single post, in reality there are a TON of warnings, waaay too many in my opinion.

Imagine you're a mod and you've had to warn someone over 200 times. At some point you're just going to go. "OK, I'm done dealing with you".

Thank you. There may be some process that controls that which was either depreciated or needs to be reactivated or repaired. I can take a look and see what I can find but no ones been actively updating the site in a long long time. I know I've received a lot of inquiries about the PM button lighting up when there is a PM. Then I found out the original owners turned that off because it was causing DB issues. So I don't know if they turned that off too or if it's something that needs to be fixed. Do you have any estimate about how long it hasn't been working? Has it ever worked? The more info you can give me the better. Thank you!

This most definitely.... specifically one small question and /or request...

Elections 2024 is on the horizon, everything 2024-related is now getting crammed into the 2020 Elections folder. Yes, I know most of us loathe the saturation of political threads, and I do too, but generally, Political threads end up in the 2020 Election, US Political Madness, or the Mud Pit forums. 2 out of the 3 have negative connotations and the other is only related to 2020 because it looks like 4 years and 330 million people 2024 will have quite literally 2020's Thing 1 and Thing 2 made famous by Dr.Suess, but I digress

Can we get an Elections 2024 folder by next year, if possible?

I don't think it has worked for me at all since I joined not too long ago because it always has said no new threads, no new replies, no new messages every time I login even though there were new messages and replies. But like I said I wasn't sure if it was my browser or the site itself.

I didn't know that. I just work on the back end stuff, I don't move posts or anything. Do you think we should rename Election 2020 to 2024 or create a new forum for 2024 election stuff? I don't know the posting history there and I take it you're more familiar than I am. What do you think?

I don't think there would be a difference between mobile and desktop, it's only a display thing. However, let me ask you this. I noticed on the forum pages the site doesn't conform to mobile devices, it's only on the main pages. Is that the same for you too? And has the site ever shown the forum posts in mobile format or has it always shown the same? (like this page here) because I was going to try to make all of these pages mobile friendly but I'm wondering if there might be something I am missing that broke the function. I don't have a system map or anything so I'm just kind of guessing at where everything is and what everything does and following code through pages and pages of scripts to get to the origin of things. The thing is, that no two people code the same unless they went to the same school and studied the same way which is like really rare and they prob work for microsoft or whatever. So it's kind of maze around the back end. Cheers.

All of the pages show up in mobile format for me when I'm on mobile. One thing I have noticed about it though, is when you pull up a thread by clicking the button to go to most recent post, the last post isn't aligned with the rest of the posts and is partially offscreen.
