the power plants and interconnectors are Ukraine and the wider wests weak points.. feels like an evolution of the food/energy disruption strategy..

Certainly does mate and it's a genius yet devious and from an outsiders perspective cruel plan at the same time. 30% knocked out in a week, so in a fortnight at this rate Ukraine will be shut down. Just in time for those freezing winters.

When Putin replied a few weeks ago to critics of the Ukraine campaign, with a wry smile and "let's see how it turns out" one got the impression he had some crafty plan ahead

I think Putin is a fantasist. He may imagine he has a "crafty plan", but it won't work. Just like his "crafty plan" to invade, denazify and disarm Ukraine, which went bad before he even pulled the trigger on the starting pistol.

Was just reading about another effect the sanctions on Russia are having-and this one has potentialy serious knock on effects.
Russia has run out of,and cannot produce train bearings-

By the end of August, about 10,000 freight cars were taken out of service due to the lack of bearings and the impossibility of repair.
In total, more than 200,000 wagons are at risk, estimates the National Transport Company (NTC), one of the largest operators of innovative wagons.
The main manufacturers of cassette bearings for them were the Swedish SKF, as well as Timken and Amsted Rail from the USA.
All three companies left Russia after the start of the war. Components were brought from abroad, and only the final assembly was carried out at Russian enterprises. Now there is nothing to assemble them from and nothing to replace imports with. They need sealants and lubricants, which are produced neither in Russia nor the CIS.

www.railway.supply...

Good to see SKF are still going-I uesd to use them on my skateboards last century..

Knowing just how reliant Russia is on their railways-not being able to replace bearings is a major issue-pretty much anything moved around in russia is done by trains including military supply.
The longer the sanctions continue, the less freight Russia will be able to move-which could cripple any and all industry.

That`s big issue ,since Russia rely so much on rail transports .

Another thing i recently read that their schools are in trouble, because many teachers get mobilized, and some other flee the country. Putin dont care even for children ...

Media blackout in southern Ukraine, and now talk of a push on Kherson-

Russian commander acknowledges Ukrainian forces advancing towards Kherson
The new commander of Russian forces in Ukraine acknowledged on Tuesday that his troops were under broad pressure and faced hard choices, as the Russian-appointed governor of occupied Kherson province announced a partial evacuation.

Also,a last minute, ominous sounding trip to Washington by UK defence secretary-

Mysterious Ben Wallace trip to Washington amid fears of Russian escalation

The secretive, last-minute nature of the trip and a comment by a second defence minister, James Heappey - who said the conversations Mr Wallace would be having on Tuesday were "beyond belief" - suggested particularly sensitive and serious issues would be discussed.

Yet another "I don't like the sound of that" moment.

For sure Putinis a fantasist who yearns to restore Moscow's influence over the FSU

Belarus Armenia and Kazach etc are secure now with Russian military stationed there. Just Ukraine to take back now or at least the eastern part.

The crafty plan looks like an attempt to turn off the lights in Ukraine and freeze the people to death. Be interesting to see how this develops against a Ukranian army that is backed by the worlds best manufacturers of military equipment and is pushing Russia back to its border. I'm waiting for a rabbit out of the hat from this new chap Surovikin just fearful of what the rabbit will be

Iran has agreed to sell 100s of missiles to Russia-

Russia is set to receive missiles from Iran capable of traveling hundreds of miles. The Fateh-110 is capable of striking targets from about 186 miles away, while the Zolfaghar can hit targets from 435 miles, according to Reuters.

www.msn.com...

“Where they are being used is not the seller’s issue. We do not take sides in the Ukraine crisis like the West. We want an end to the crisis through diplomatic means,” he said.
This regards hundreds of missiles that could be delivered in 2-3 batches. This was reported to Reuters by an Iranian security official.
“They (Russians) wanted to buy hundreds of our missiles, even mid-range ones, but we told them that we could ship soon a few hundred of their demanded Zolfaghar and Fateh 110 short-range, surface-to-surface missiles.
I cannot give you the exact time, but soon, very soon those will be shipped in two to three shipments,” he said.

Another Iranian diplomat said that Moscow had specifically asked for surface-to-surface short-range Fateh 110 and Zolfaghar missiles, and the shipment would happen in a maximum of 10 days.

Hmm.
You know, that kind of sounds like taking sides to me Iran.
And hows that nuclear deal going-you know the one that says you are not allowed to supply ballistic missiles?

I hope the women and younger generations overthrow the demonic Iranian regime..Maybe the west should "not take sides" by supplying those protesters with weapons?

Funny you say that i think Ukraine has been holding out they have missiles too and I can see eventually they will let some go into Russia. The bridge wasn't hit by a truck bomb you can see the sections were tossed into the air meaning the force came from below the bridge not on it.

Do I really have to point out the inherent connection between Nazis and Islamists?

No, not at all.....just another parallel between Putin and Hitler.

But you could try to point out the 'inherent connection' between Jews and 'Islamists'.

Is your every thought one of assumption and equivocation?

That could be why Ben Wallace was in the USA yesterday? The NATO is planning an attack on Moscow itself using Ukranian conscripts?

Was lying in bed this morning thinking about the whole Iranian participation in this war. Things are moving from ammunition, drones plus advisors on the ground, now possibly missiles. Well as things move on what an opportunity for Iran or Hezbollah to gain a foothold in Europe. They will never get a better chance to get a base in Europe, sort of to counter the British and American bases in the Gulf. Putin might offer the Iranians a permanent base is they send let's say half a million Rev Guards and Hezbollah. What a chance to get into the heart of Europe.

Pointing out the glaring similarities between Putin and Hitler.
Putin has copied so much from Hitler's playbook its truly staggering.

No assumptions or equivocation there.

Zelensky is a Jew.
His whole government and administration has been demonised and denounced as 'Jewish' amongst other things.
Islamic terrorists have sort of got a history of disliking all things Jewish and haven't got much of a record for fighting for them.

No assumptions or equivocation there.

If anything I think I've been quite unequivocal.
Unless of course you can prove or show differently?

Aye - even the Iranian drones sound and act just like V1 doodlebugs .....

"The incessant buzzing of the propeller-driven Geran-2 drones — dubbed "mopeds" and "lawnmowers" by combatants — can induce terror for anyone under its flight path because no one on the ground knows exactly when or where the weapon will strike."

Martial Law declared in the 4 annexed southern regions of Ukraine-

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared martial law in the four Ukrainian territories illegally annexed by the Kremlin last month.
Putin signed the declaration on Wednesday, giving officials in the four regions — Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia — broad powers to regulate civilian and military affairs.

Iran have shot themselves in the foot here-the missile sales should void the nuclear agreement, which should mean the reapplying of heavier sanctions.
I don't like your idea of Hezbollah setting up in europe..
I said this a page or two back,but-This could be a great time to start funding, maybe arming the protesters in Iran to help them overthrow their vile oppressive regime.
If Iran could get a half decent government,Hezbollah and the rev. gaurds funding would dry up nicely and that would help not only Ukraine but many other countries in the middle east.

Same here Silicone I don't like the idea of Hezbollah setting up in Europe either........... Yet Europe is in the Iranian backyard. If I was a Mullah I'd see this as a perfect opportunity to play the same game and send operatives into the heart of Europe. Putin can take 300,000 fighters in payment for a permanent base, many hardened and trained already in the Syrian campaign and against ISIS in Iraq. Perfect solution for all parties. Maybe hand out a few Satan 2 nukes to the Iranian's too. Sure USA and Israel would love that one. This chess game could get real interesting soon.
