When Putin replied a few weeks ago to critics of the Ukraine campaign, with a wry smile and "let's see how it turns out" one got the impression he had some crafty plan ahead
By the end of August, about 10,000 freight cars were taken out of service due to the lack of bearings and the impossibility of repair.
In total, more than 200,000 wagons are at risk, estimates the National Transport Company (NTC), one of the largest operators of innovative wagons.
The main manufacturers of cassette bearings for them were the Swedish SKF, as well as Timken and Amsted Rail from the USA.
All three companies left Russia after the start of the war. Components were brought from abroad, and only the final assembly was carried out at Russian enterprises. Now there is nothing to assemble them from and nothing to replace imports with. They need sealants and lubricants, which are produced neither in Russia nor the CIS.
Russian commander acknowledges Ukrainian forces advancing towards Kherson
The new commander of Russian forces in Ukraine acknowledged on Tuesday that his troops were under broad pressure and faced hard choices, as the Russian-appointed governor of occupied Kherson province announced a partial evacuation.
Mysterious Ben Wallace trip to Washington amid fears of Russian escalation
The secretive, last-minute nature of the trip and a comment by a second defence minister, James Heappey - who said the conversations Mr Wallace would be having on Tuesday were "beyond belief" - suggested particularly sensitive and serious issues would be discussed.

I think Putin is a fantasist. He may imagine he has a "crafty plan", but it won't work. Just like his "crafty plan" to invade, denazify and disarm Ukraine, which went bad before he even pulled the trigger on the starting pistol.
Russia is set to receive missiles from Iran capable of traveling hundreds of miles. The Fateh-110 is capable of striking targets from about 186 miles away, while the Zolfaghar can hit targets from 435 miles, according to Reuters.
“Where they are being used is not the seller’s issue. We do not take sides in the Ukraine crisis like the West. We want an end to the crisis through diplomatic means,” he said.
This regards hundreds of missiles that could be delivered in 2-3 batches. This was reported to Reuters by an Iranian security official.
“They (Russians) wanted to buy hundreds of our missiles, even mid-range ones, but we told them that we could ship soon a few hundred of their demanded Zolfaghar and Fateh 110 short-range, surface-to-surface missiles.
I cannot give you the exact time, but soon, very soon those will be shipped in two to three shipments,” he said.
Another Iranian diplomat said that Moscow had specifically asked for surface-to-surface short-range Fateh 110 and Zolfaghar missiles, and the shipment would happen in a maximum of 10 days.

Do I really have to point out the inherent connection between Nazis and Islamists?
No, not at all.....just another parallel between Putin and Hitler.
But you could try to point out the 'inherent connection' between Jews and 'Islamists'.

Pointing out the glaring similarities between Putin and Hitler.
Putin has copied so much from Hitler's playbook its truly staggering.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared martial law in the four Ukrainian territories illegally annexed by the Kremlin last month.
Putin signed the declaration on Wednesday, giving officials in the four regions — Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia — broad powers to regulate civilian and military affairs.

Was lying in bed this morning thinking about the whole Iranian participation in this war. Things are moving from ammunition, drones plus advisors on the ground, now possibly missiles. Well as things move on what an opportunity for Iran or Hezbollah to gain a foothold in Europe. They will never get a better chance to get a base in Europe, sort of to counter the British and American bases in the Gulf. Putin might offer the Iranians a permanent base is they send let's say half a million Rev Guards and Hezbollah. What a chance to get into the heart of Europe.
