Only all of Ukraine's citizens can decide if they want to let go of a significant part of the common territory.
If people living there don't like it they can go. But the land belongs to the citizens of Ukraine.

That isn't how it worked with the Scottish referendum. Part of the UK but only the Scottish got to vote.

It wouldn't matter how it was or is done.

I think it might matter to the people of Ukraine

People like you would just cry sham.

Slippery slop there little bit, careful you don't catch a cold.

Truth of the matter is just like crimea they voted to be part of Russia and I'm not surprised after the 8 years of abuse they have suffered .

I see you fail to address my conundrum in any sort of meaningful manner.

Could that be because you cant and Putin's ""referendum"" is full of # per chance?

Methinks that may very well be the truth of the matter.

Self defence?!!!!

Seriously?!!!

Russia could and probably would easily have defeated Ukraine using conventional armaments if it had not had the influx of weapons and other support from the US and the West.
Russia can't win a conventional war against those odds if the situation escalates hence the warning. I doubt it will come to that though. The US needs Russia as an enemy and the situation in Ukraine is perfect for the US as it is right now. Keep shifting those Weapons, control the energy market and weaken Russia.
Ten billion over twelve years to bring about the coup and install a puppet. How many have died because of that?
Ukraine was a red line for Russia, we know that. If free and fair elections were held I'd be supporting Ukraine but that wasn't what happened.

Well, yes!

Obviously?

It was their decision? To leave the UK, or not.

It was an Independence Referendum.

I don't think our Scots cousins would have been best pleased if we had a say in it.

What are you like?!!!

The rhythm method.

We had the referendum and we choose to remain part of the UK, i voted the other way, but at the end of the day we have to abide by the majority decision, thats how.

I guess it wuz a thing...

And it may be again should Truss and the Tories keep up and continue there shenanigans running the UK into the ground whist the rich get richer and everyone else gets bent over the barrel.

It's called euphemism.
Used to be.
But as it is with dynamic developments Russia has stolen the cake.
For the moment.

The stench of death follows the US wherever it goes. Is that less than fine? Russia hasn't stolen the cake it has been responding to developments on its border. I think you are being disigenuous.
I'm no supporter of Russia. I merely comment on the situation as I see it.

And that was the decision of the UK to do so and everybody was fine with it.
Very different circumstances.
Circumstances matter.

LoL

I think a better referendum to have might be the removal of Old London town and Westminster from the rest of the UK to be honest.

Interesting to see those number and percentages methinks.

That's just silly talk. When have I ever commented on Putin's character? I've never supported Putin. I don't even support Russia, I've just watched this all play out. The coup was well covered at the time here on ATS.

From where will these votes come?

Thing is iamthevirus Putin is the one threatening to fling nuclear snowballs down to his piss poor invasion force not being able to cut the mustard on the conventional battlefield.

He's pretty much up for flipping over the monopoly board down to the fact that he cannot play the game and is losing imho.

And thats just not cricket.

And I'd say you're naive. That's a game that's actually being played. Nations promise support and money to sympathetic groups.
Not just the US or Russia, everybody even Suisse.
Lobbyism, euphemism for corruption. That's how capitalism in politics works and that's been adopted all over the globe.
How Nations work internally and internationally.
Politics euphemism for directing the cash flow.

Russia is not better. The main difference is we got a chance to participate and fool ourselves our opinion would matter and we can influence together the future of our culture. Russians don't have that option. Sure we need to work on our issues, but to us in the West that's at least a possibility.
Once you're actually inside and a part of it. Internationally we sure all are assholes.
Still 2:1
