Twitter currently has over 7500 employees and made a loss in 2021. Most of that staff is, at best, doing nothing but useless busy work that adds no value to the company.

I am quite sure that Musk will reduce this significant slack one way or the other. The next months will be interesting.

I wonder why Elon M didn't invest in trumps social media site?

truthsocial.com...

I don't think Elon's twitter investment is going to work out like the right wingers hope. Time will tell...

I have a strong sense you're right, though it may take a few years for people to come to that realization. Zuckerberg had no problem bowing to the controllers when called before a congressional committee, as we've seen with so many others when their internet presence reaches a certain point of influence.

imo the rightwing loves Elon because they thought trump back on twitter would pave the way back into the WH for trump. trump hasn't even participated in his own social media site.

Ain't gonna happen....

Nope.. just tired of all the far left bullsh’t.

To quote a line from a song “im not sorry, it’s human nature I’m not your bi@ch font hang your sh@t on me”

I actually don't think Elon Musk is a very political guy, rather he's a freedom-maximalist. He's looking for a place where interesting voices and unique perspectives can be heard, new ideas debated, and a world-wide dialectic can be held. That's what Twitter used to be, and hopefully can become again.

How? If you read this thread, the rightwingers aren't going to join twitter even if Musk takes control.

imo...twitter is just a social media site for kids and they don't care much for world-wide dialectic.

But I hope you are correct!!

Twitter is for kids? I suppose if you're 98 years old then sure, it's for kids. TikTok is for kids. Twitter is for journalists, politicians & politicos, the entertainment complex, and college professors mostly. You know, the people that represent the core of the power structures in our world today. If you think otherwise, then apparently you haven't used Twitter in the last decade or so.

You're right, I seldom use twitter. I still use FB, Truth Social and Parler. I did however love reading trumps tweets every morning. Twitter in Chief....

There are legit concerns about Musk as a technologist. The brain implant stuff definitely concerns me.

I haven't researched Musk's stance on the UFO phenomenon, BUT here are two bits of food for thought:

- 1) a significant % of UFO/UAP actually is b.s., misidentification, misrepresentation, hoaxes, although I believe that a small subsection of encounters are a legit /something/, they are the minority of sightings

- 2) Musk heads the most successful private space company in the world. I would not doubt that he might put out one position for public consumption (UFOs don't exist) to pacify military/government stakeholders and contractors he deals with, just to seem more "mainstream" and not endanger his company's earning potential.

Other than that, there is no denying that Twitter has been a tightly controlled echo chamber for left-leaning thought. If Musk just turns the platform apolitical, for example, we're not going to take down posts that question vaccine mandates, or posts that support politics that some don't agree with, that would be huge win for everyone, whether they know it or not, or accept it or not.

The only way for ideas and thoughts to evolve is testing against opposing ideas or thoughts. If you remove opposing ideas, what you have left is just intellectual masturbation.

The amount of dead wrong in these two sentences only leads me to believe that your words are a pre-emptive coping mechanism for what's about to come.

I think I remember you mentioning that.

I mean........

o_O

If people don't see a huge UGE red flag in a company de-platforming accounts over something like that, then they are just completely lost and off the map.

The problem can be stated that most people aren't in support of censorship, they just support censorship of things THEY don't agree with.

How is that acceptable to anyone?

I've read a handful of opinions in this thread I don't agree with, but I fully support their right to be here and chime in. How F'n BORING would it be if everyone thought the same and had the same take?

^^^ Basically, that is the epitome of pre-Musk Twitter, and explains why I steer clear of it and other places like it.

Holy Hell! I've been looking for a quote to add to my posts. This is PERFECT !

Do you mind, AD? Of course, I'd credit you.

I can't take credit for inventing the quote. By all means feel free to use as desired.

I think at the very least, the globalist-blackrock/vanguard-democrat censor machine will struggle to keep existing and future narratives alive without censorship. And it will be glorious for tens of millions of people to watch.

For example, do you think Covid and the vaccine would have gotten the civilian-policing that it did if the average Twitter user was allowed to see conflicting scientific data, charts, graphs, interviews with doctors that had "unacceptable views", etc?

Need I remind you that all of that was censored and labeled disinformation while whomever posted it was banned?

And that's just a drop in the bucket. Strap in sweetie.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks this is so good for free speech and conservative/right wing principles. Musk has never been a conservative, he is a climate change, clean energy, big gov guy, at least he was up until 2 weeks ago. Not sure how he just magically changed his core beliefs.

If it seems too good to be true then it probably is, especially in this political environment, with a guy who has red flags going up all around him. I don't trust him, I think the left outrage is a manufactured narrative, and I think it's a trap. I hope I'm wrong, but I would bet that I'm not.

Not to mention, how twatter censored everyone who questioned the vax effectiveness and labelled them as misinformation.
Yet, those very comments that were made, have been proven true when it comes to the Vid.

Im looking forward to this new era of twitter with the big guy in the chair now.
Apparently the algorithms are going open source too.

You think the left doesn't own their narrative?

Here is Media Matters, they have been freaking out over the prospect
of Musk owning twitter. I can not think of another leftist organization
that has been more influential in the last 6 years. They are owned/steered
by Share Blue, tied to Hillary Clinton and prominent Democrats.

www.mediamatters.org...

The way I see it, this won't really stop the likes of Media Matters.
They will move on to extreme pressuring of advertisers, and other
ways. I am curious to see Musk's plans for the financial maintenance
of the platform though. He might already have a plan for that too.

I do agree with you on Musk, he is big on Climate Change agenda,
and AI, human convergence.
