The move comes after Musk reportedly met with several shareholders over the weekend and outlined the specifics of his $54.20 per share bid for the social media platform, according to Reuters. Musk’s outreach forced the company’s board of directors to seriously consider the Tesla CEO’s $43 billion takeover bid, the report said.

This is not a done deal. As the article points out the purchase could go south before it's over with. Twitter tried to get a "go-shop" deal which would have allowed them to accept other bids without having to pay Musk a "break-up" fee, but Musk didn't go for it. Also, many shareholders have encouraged the sale.

Although Musk buying twitter IS news, to me the real news is what has happened to bring us to this point. DeSantis put no small amount of pressure on twitter to accept the offer or be sued over their "poison pill" fiasco, and I have no doubt DeSantis isn't the only one. Trump may have his hand in this as well, among others working in the background...

It will be interesting to see the end result of all the wrangling done to make the deal and take twitter private.

Man, if it goes through, how many Karen's and Kevin's will close their accounts?

I may actually open one, if it does.

I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of staff resign as well, but I think it will be a good thing to have them gone upfront.

I have a twitter account I seldom use, but I keep it for those occasions it is useful.

Right? Think it's taking long because twitter needs time to destroy files and erase algorithms.

If the deal goes through it will be even more interesting to see where Elon takes Twitter in the coming years.

Bhahahahaha hahah!!!!!

Just wait for it!

This is amazing, the fact that the left and all the other elites are LOSING THEIR MINDS shows that this is the right thing to do, they are going to be losing their most thorough propaganda machine, NEXT is FB!

The only way to take down this machine is by taking out their propaganda pushing avenues ....

The great part is today the stock skyrocketed with just the thought of Musk buying it bahaha

I hope NONE and they are all forced to debate their BULLCRAP with other people who are informed as well so people can decide for themselves

If this goes through, I'd expect 20% of the staff to quit in protest.

If they don't, I expect that same 20% to be fired for not having a purpose anymore... since their whole job is to just make sure certain voices aren't heard, and promoting other ones.

One, Musk could just bring in some REAL talent and automate that job anyway, but two is... well, hopefully he really IS for free speech, because if the algorithms and censorship were eliminated today, I'd give it until June before the MSM would have to start changing their tune just because the average person would get information outside of the narrative again.

I wonder how long it would take before DC were called to answer for some of its more recent crimes against the people?

This should be fun- I'm stocking up on popcorn.

Im praying that the sale goes through.
Musk tweeted earlier:

"I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means"

I think the deal is done. But just hasnt been announced yet for PR reasons.

I personally hope Mr Trump comes back on.
Then Trump goes on Rogan for a 3 hour interview.

Wait, .... so cancelling, de-platforming, shadow banning ... those aren't elements of free speech??

Shocking!

An organization like Twitter, a recently (relatively speaking) formed tech company is likely entirely saturated with hard left leaning people, up and down the organization. Ultimately though .... money talks and bullsh!t walks. I think there will be some attrition, but not an exodus, unless Musk really does what we hope he does, make Twitter politically neutral and ever better apolitical. So that means, someone like Trump doesn't get de-platformed while someone like Maxine Waters (pretty much the same personality and propensity for saying mind boggling things, only a Democrat) is left alone.

I would bet on it that the left and their deep state allies will be monitoring this situation very very very closely. The biggest asset these BigTech companies have been to the establishment is removal of opposing ideas and amplification and protection of the narrative. This is no small advantage that such people are going to relinquish without opposition.

Oh for sure.

Twitter was a narrative maker.
I heard on the radio the other day that politics (democrats) were worried that with Musk's take over that there would me "mass misinformation."
What it actually sounded like was that they were concerned they wouldn't be able to control the narrative anymore.
That actual information will come out - and not be hit with an insta-ban claiming it was fake news by "fact checkers"

Its an interesting time to be alive.

Bwhahahaha...

We would never sell our platform to such an evil man.....

One week later....

Is this a check or wire transfer?

Funny how people pretending to be the moral and intellectual leaders of the world will ease their standards for a big paycheck.

They're frightened of Elon buying Twitter due to acceptance of "Mass misinformation" huh?

Like what Twitter did by condoning and perpetuating the Russian Collusion hoax in 2016?

Or when Twitter banned any evidence of election fraud?

Or when Twitter banned any critical views of Covid or the vaccines?

Or when Twitter censored any and every post that had contents from Hunter Biden's "totally fake" laptop?

Yeah mass misinformation is a big problem on Twitter.

Twitter is a gem. It is a source for news that is well ahead of the other platforms.

I'm curious to see what Elon does with it if he takes over.

I wonder if he's considered renaming it?
Or, rather, I think they call it "re-branding" when you're that big.

Twitter is such a stupid name.

It's a given he's planning on making money, and free speech is a helluva marketing tool right now.

Please please please let this happen.

If this goes through though, how much do you guys want to bet the MSM is suddenly going to go on a crusade to demonize Elon Musk and his companies?
