Agreed. American public probably wouldn't like it if thousands of American servicemen are sent to Ukraine to die fighting Russia. Biden's polls are pretty bad as it is. He don't need worse poll than it already is.

Idk mate... US war time presidents do have a pretty good track record of being re-elected.

Food for thought anyway.

True, but they are fighting a US armed and equipped army, so it's pretty good fight. Russians are pretty proud. They are willing to sacrifice millions of men to fight for Russian pride as they did in WW2.

Proud of their history and military - Yes.
Proud of their leader / leadership - Nope.

Not entirely accurate. Most of the aid is older soviet equipment or captured Russian equipment.

UK to send Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks to Poland.

Britain is planning to send tanks to Poland in a significant escalation of its military support so that Ukraine can then be supplied by the Polish government with Soviet-era T-72 tanks.

But The USSR and Nazi Germany where allies at the start of WW II.

Until Hitler turned.

Just to add to my last post... I honestly feel like the US would completely annihilate Russia in any conventional warfare.

Only way Russia would be able to take out “thousands of American service men” is if Russia sucker punched them with a nuclear warhead.

And let’s face it, that’s all Russia’s got at this point... nukes.

They’re basically insignificant on a global front in every other way.

and would invite a nuclear response... something that people seem to ignore.

That's the narrative.

There are some indications that's not the case though. Give this a read. Our narrative isn't making it to most Russians. Putin actually still maintains a fair amount of support, as does the Russian government in general:

news.harvard.edu...

Some highlights:

More recently, a new polling project launched by an anti-Kremlin activist wrote that 59 percent of Russians support the war. Of those, 73 percent trust state media.

As you know, polls can often be skewed depending on who is doing them, who they poll, what they ask, how they ask it, etc. In a poll that should be the worst-case scenario, well over half of Russians still support the war.

Polls of Putin's approval range in from the 60s to the 80s, depending on the source.

Either way, the narrative we keep getting from our media that there is massive unrest and this war is endangering Putin simply doesn't seem to hold water.

No. They couldn't invade the Isle of Wight judging by current events.

Putin is an insane Muppet surrounded by scared "yes men".

Of course, Ukraine war benefits China. It is a good way to deplete America's inventory of tanks and artillery in Ukraine. When China is ready to invade Taiwan, America would have practically no tank or artillery left in inventory. So China will do what it takes to keep Ukraine war going. If Russia goes on the backfoot then China will step it up and provide raw material Russia needs to build more and more tanks and artillery for use in Ukraine war.

Not really. 10 years from now I can see Ukraine losing Kharkov and Odessa to Russia.

So you see Putins invasion lasting that long?
That doesn't tie in with his "special Operation" and how well it's going at the moment.
Something he thought was going to be a walkover is now going to take at least 10 years?

Vlad is one smart/stupid cookie. Take your pick.

P.S. It's not the smart one!

Just making stuff up again?

The U.S. isn't sending any tanks, though we could give them a couple thousand and not even notice the difference in our inventory.

We did donate 100 artillery systems and related ammo, but a country capable of deploying 20,000 guns with enough ammo to wear out all the barrels at a moment's notice isn't gonna miss 100 guns.

The vast majority of Ukraine's equipment is very old russian gear.

russia wouldn't want to face an American equipped military if they can't even handle one mostly using 50 year old russian gear.

So, Putin is willing to sacrifice millions of men to fight for Russian pride against a neighbouring country which was no threat to Russia.

Notice that the ones who are willing to sacrifice millions of men never go and fight themselves!

The fact that somebody is willing to sacrifice millions of his own countrymen to satisfy his own ambitions should have alarm bells ringing throughout society.

Oh! Realised, you can't have alarm bells ringing because you aren't told what is actually happenning.

Doesn't mean they can hold it. Tons of military equipment is pouring into Ukraine, its going to get ugly for Russia long before they can say they won anything.

It seems you forgot that Zelensky spouted off about building nukes a week before the invasion.

Unless it is the "sovereign country" of Cuba basing nukes on their land in which case that is different because of "reasons" and we can threaten to destroy all of humanity with WW3.
