Dont mistake me here X, im anti war, not a pacifist.

Im also very pro a "right tool for the job" guy.

Want to win this? Then its going to, witb a 90% certainty, lead to ww3, quite possibly with nukes.

Want the least bloody way out? Capitulate to russias demands and help Ukraine find an acceptible out. Afterall, we helped get this war machine on its way

Whats going on now is a bleeding of Ukraine.

The police need help at nighttime so valuable infrastructure like railway bridges doesn't go -boom-

Those kind of measures also paint an intel picture, even if it is one of reflections and shadows.

Ok say Ukraine / west give into Russians demands re: east Ukraine and Crimea.

What happens when they decide they want all of Ukraine? What if Russia invades Finland or Sweden? Russia is already deploying military units on their border with Finland. What if Russia decides Lithuania was never independent (same argument they make for Ukraine) and demands they give up, along with Poland, the Suwalki Gap? All they want is land so they can touch Kaliningrad and Belarus.

Is it worth it to give Russia the 60 mile gap instead of going to war over 60 miles of land?

Land for no war... seems reasonable

What if Russia demands the return of Alaska(like they have in the last 15 years)?
Better still what if they want Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon? I mean after all those areas used to belong to Russia.

Now reverse the argument - What if Germany decides they want Kaliningrad back? What if Poland wants it? Its just a piece of land right? What if China decides to press Russia to return Siberia / Vladivostok - territory that China once controlled?

If we go down the road of "this land used to belong to Russia, Poland, Lithuania, China?

Where does one draw the line and say enough?

Russia and China are 2 of the largest countries on earth yet for some reason they want more land. The days of territorial expansion via a war are over with.

We are in the 21sy century. Its about time some some countries join the rest of the planet.

Again another sign that Russia completely and utterly failed to plan for invading Ukraine. I am surprised Ukraine is actually hitting targets in Russia.

Putin essentially ended the possibility of peace for a second time (the 1st when he invaded Ukraine). Ukraines forces in the south are making progress against Russia (towards Kherson and Crimea).

Yep. The problem with "let's go back to" games is, the point chosen to go back to is always arbitrary. Putin's obsession with the 1980s is arbitrary and his personal problem. A thoroughly defective Russian state structure allowed him to accumulate far too much power, which is why his personal problem is now a problem for much of the world.

Russia seems to like using the "let's go back" excuse. What I find funny is Russia acts like they are the only ones who can do it when multiple countries can make the same argument to Russian land.

My question is where does the world draw a line and say no more? We either spill bland and stand up to Putin now, or we can it down the road, adding gallons of blood to the fight.

Start with Kaliningrad. A prize of war from WW2 and ethnically cleansed so "pure" Russians could be relocated in. Seems to me that they are trying to ethnically cleanse Ukraine at the minute, although not working out as planned.

The exact same play the Nazis used. Send Russians out to occupied lands and have them settles, then claim the land as Russian.

Security Service of Ukraine has captured pro-Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk

I read that he is a close personal friend of putin; in fact, putin is Medvedchuk's children's godfather. Zelenski said he'd trade him to russia in exchange for all of the POWs in russian custody. I guess this is where we find out what putin really thinks of his friends...

Following news that Ukrainians had captured the Russian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk – Putin’s closest ally in Ukraine – Zelenskiy has proposed releasing him to Russia in exchange for Ukrainians captured by Russian forces.
“I propose to the Russian Federation to exchange this guy of yours” for Ukrainian men and women in Russian captivity, he said in an address posted to Telegram.

Yes, same play.

But just to note that the Russians are absolutely nothing like Nazi Germany. Their unprovoked invasion of a peaceful neighbour was to spread love and more peace. If anyone has died, it's because of an allergic reaction to the bunches of flowers the happy Russian peace-bringers are handing out.
