Snake Island update

Both Tor and Pansir short-range air defense systems, known by the NATO reporting names SA-15 Gauntlet and SA-22 Greyhound, respectively, appeared on the small island in recent weeks.

🇷🇺🇺🇦❗️ Mariupol Tribunal over Ukrainian war criminals from the Nazi regiment "Azov" and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be held at the end of June in the city of Mariupol. Preparations for the process are already underway.

It will be the first tribunal for Ukrainian war criminals on the territory of the DPR (not counting the already past trial of 3 foreign mercenaries). Until the end of summer, several trials of Ukrainian war criminals will take place in the Donetsk People's Republic.

Snake island lies within range of the new HIMARS rocket systems and of the M777 155 mm howitzers from the Ukrainian mainland

Question is what will the Ukrainian do ? Bombard the island to knock out the Sam systems , like they did last month

Ukraine's lacks ability to land large number of troops and equipment on the island to take it away from Russians

What is Russian objective ? To set up a block in the western Black Sea? Prevent Ukrainian offensives against Kherson area ??

Battle for Slovyansk: Situation as at 16.00 on June 12, 2022

▪️ The Russian Armed Forces dislodged the AFU from the village of Bogorodichnoye.

The occupation of Bogorodichnoye will make it possible to organize communication with the Central Military District troops in Sviatogorsk and to deliver a flank strike on the enemy grouping defending the M03 Izyum - Slovyansk highway at the Dolina - Krasnopolye line.

▪️Artillery strikes, including heavy flamethrower systems, are carried out against Dolina, Krasnopolye and adjacent forest areas.

▪️ According to reports from the AFU General Staff, intense fighting is also taking place west of the Izyum bridgehead in the vicinity of Vernopolye.

▪️ The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to pull in manpower to Slovyansk and prepare the city for defense.

I’m personally so feed up about this stupid war.

It’s just going to go on for years to come, simply because no world leader has the balls to just say enough is enough and put Putin (and Russia as a whole, actually) in there place and tell them to tone it the f# down.

People are dying and having there lives destroyed here… someone needs to stand up and put an end to all this nonsense!

The Ukrainian presser lacked the stirring Marchons! Marchons! of de Gaulle’s sanguine radio appeal but nevertheless, the nascent Free Russian company grew to a battalion-size unit now called the Freedom of Russia Legion (with its ill-suited emblem).

Has it been employed effectively? Or is it wasting away?

I am not sold on the author's conclusion, but the article is an excellent read. Unfortunately, the quality of the soldiers involved with the Freedom of Russia Legion and their motivations for serving in that unit are unknown. If former Russian POWS joined the unit, they might have sought improved living conditions and not front-line service. Also, Ukraine is desperately short of military equipment, so why risk its limited pool of resources on an army unit of questionable value.

Moreover, the comparison with Free French forces is flawed for a simple reason. Unlike France 1940 - 44, Russia isn't under enemy occupation, so there are no if different reasons for Russians to seek the liberation of their country from Putin's regime.

In summary, the Freedom of Russia Legion might serve propaganda better than military purposes.
