I've seen a report that Russian forces were apparently trying to capture chernobyl NPP

They have captured it. www.abovetopsecret.com...

Coming to this late so I apologize if this has been covered. I am curious what everyone's thought is about Chernobyl. What is Russia's interest in it at this point? I think there is still fissile material there but supposedly inaccessible. But it is a wasteland. What else is there that was forgotten about? Russia already has nuclear capability.

Random unverified reports that the Russian Air Force has obtained air superiority over Ukrainian airspace. That remains to be seen.

Why not just march into Russia and China while we are at it just place the American flags all over.

Why the propaganda today?

We don't want war.

Or to enslave our neighbors.

Putin does.

We have no interest in planting our flag ANYWHERE.

Define “no interest in planting our flag” more.

And btw Panzerfausts were effective too, until it didn’t matter at the end.

You keep going on about “javelins”. lol

My employer produces some key Javelin components, they are personal to me.

Very personal.

That isn't likely to change whether they are as effective as expected or not.

Especially if not.

Re planting our flag...

We haven't made ANY attempt to expand U.S. territory for a century, and have passed on MANY easy opportunities to do so during that period. MANY. While also forcing our friends to do the same whenever possible.

It simply isn't in our DNA anymore.

Exact opposite for russia.

As a Chinese, of course, I support Russia in this war. But, to be honest, any loss of human life in war is sad.

I respect your honesty.

A LOT.

But not your foolish opinion about what the russian bully is currently doing.

The unavoidable financial consequences for russia and russian friends are too massive to be exaggerated in any way, and extremely long lasting.

Doesn't make ANY sense for putin to do this without MUCH larger plans. He does not have a reputation for being stupid.

I agree. I think he came to the conclusion that the US/NATO will never let Russia develop in any meaningful way. At this point he will probably keep the pain coming until something significantly changes. It will have to be something big like a completely new security architecture in Europe.

I don't exclude that he snapped and is beyond negotiating now.

Some other hints that make me think that this is much bigger than just Ukraine:

The spread of Russian mercenary group Wagner in Africa. They just kicked French led western military out of Mali among other things. That is significant for multiple reasons. Mali and neighbouring Niger are extremely relevant to France. Key word uranium. The fact that this hasn't been a much bigger issue might even hint at a secret agreement between France and Russia. Think security architecture without NATO...

Then there is the symbolism of the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces which opened less than two years ago. A bit too close to potential future religious fundamentalism for my taste - though visually admittedly stunning.

Not much of a surprise if Russia is intent on poaching NATO allies to build their own trade union.

I agree with you!

So, all Putin has achieved is for two former adversaries to stand United against him.

A tiny victory for the free world, I know, in the grand scheme of things.

Have a hug.

This move is going to Hurt Europe. Yet the British Prime Minster is part of the WEF.

It's going to hurt both of us.

A LOT.

Especially Europe.

We did warn you, repeatedly, to take action to prevent this over the last 5 years, and offered to help you do it.

Your leaders ignored and mocked those warnings Every. Single. Time.

Ignoring those warnings has consequences, and this is one if them.

It will get MUCH worse before it gets better.

MUCH Worse.

We ALL will now pay a very heavy price for Europe and democrats once again appeasing an international bully.

Too late to do anything about that now.

But not too late to swap your leaders for Winstons.

While we end the democrat party's existence here.

PLEASE.

He did much more than that.

Poked the most powerful bear the planet has ever known.

And EVERY one of the bear's friends.

The bear is now deciding which method to use to destroy russia and every one of it's friends.

With hopes of keeping the damage contained, which may not be possible anymore.

The containment.

Destroying Russian is easy.

We know how to do that.

Costly, but easy.

We're not about extermination, we're not about "warnings", we're about dialogue and team building and proper compromise strategies. At least that's the America I believed in.

We are also 'about' standing tall to prevent international bullies from attacking and enslaving their neighbors.

Even at great cost to ourselves.

Europe wouldn't exist today if this wasn't true.

And Europe isn't alone in that.

Your leaders ignored and mocked those warnings Every. Single. Time.

Because leaders are bought and paid for by others who are spreading some crazy weird agendas across Europe. The Prime Minster of Canada mentioned to the pm of Kosovo last year that Kosovo should focus on gender quality.

Why are these politicians obsessed with such agendas?

enslaving their neighbors.

Isn't that what US/NATO had being doing for the past decades in Eastern Europe? how many bases does US have?

And those who remember the 1960's

Should remember the "Gulf of Tonkin Incident", and what followed.

The US may have "no intention of putting American troops in Ukraine ",

But "intentions" can change, especially if they're given the proper "nudge".
