Then you take issue with a great many politicians, including Republican politician, like Donald Trump and Mike Pence, who invoked God whenever it was politically expedient and who ply religious arguments to promote Christian agendas into legislation.

In the first place, I have not seen where Trump or Pence violated the very tenets of the religion. In the second, yes, I oppose many politicians for similar reasons, without regard to your binary R/D view of life. In the third place, what executive mandates did Trump or Pence implement, again?

And in the fourth place, you really, really need a hobby. Neither have been in power for the last eight months.

And in the fifth place, this thread isn't even about them. Ever heard of the word "obsession"?

I assume you also oppose the National Prayer Breakfast?

Why would I oppose prayer?

Are you having a "moment" here? Need a doctor?

When a politician tells me that God wants me vaxxed, then a line has been crossed.

The politician is now a spokesman for God?

What people are overlooking in this scenario is this: Remember all the brouhaha over not being allowed to put the Ten Commandments in courthouse lawns because it violated the separation of church and state? How can any politician use religion in this specific manner, or any manner for that matter, and not also be violating the separation of church and state? When "state" uses religion, it's not keeping the two very separated, is it?

They want to dictate that we have to keep religion away from everything related to the government, but they are free to bring up God and religion any time it suits their agenda?

Normally I'd say hyperbole is involved here, but when one of the party's cornerstones is the belief that women have the right to commit murder and one of the other tenants is that an individual not only has the right to change their gender identity but the right to demand others around them participate fully in their lie, it is abundantly clear that you're absolutely right... any Democrat who claims Christianity is a liar.

I take great exception to anyone who is in direct violation of the very tenets of Christianity trying to speak for God.

There is a difference in this case. I've never heard Trump or other Republicans presume to directly speak for God. Nor have I heard them ask Christians to be their "apostles".

This woman has tried to assume the role of a prophet and the savior at once. It's repugnant to Christians at best.

Committing a sin isn't violating the tenants of Christianity. blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is, however, an unforgivable violation of the tenants. Making an arbitrary claim that benefits your own position by claiming to be speaking from God, as Hocul did here, is blaspheming the Lord.

Christian arguments against vaccines, masks, social distancing etc.

Clue me in. What arguments are Christians making? Serious question.

A prominent Florida megachurch pastor has advised his congregants not to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, urging them to “believe in divine immunity” instead. www.huffpost.com...

Among white Americans who are vaccine refusers, 34% believe God will protect them from the virus. baptistnews.com...

Pastor refuses to wear face mask because he can’t ‘picture Jesus wearing a mask’
The pastor previously claimed that any Christian who catches COVID-19 is not a devout enough believer

www.dailydot.com...

“There’s also a general kind of theological belief in the sovereignty of God, that He is the one who knows best. So if you get sick, it’s because you don’t have faith in God and that you’re not living a holy life, so God isn’t able to protect you.”
...
“According to evangelical groups in other parts of the world, taking the vaccine is like saying ‘I don’t have faith and I’m not holy,’ and it’s challenging their faith in that way,” Campbell said. “And that’s one reason why the vaccine debate is not about personal health, but about freedom, since it questions their religious identity and their right to practice it in a certain way.”

research.tamu.edu...

And then, there's the whole "mark of the beast" thing.

You'd almost think those wackos had something like a "freedom of religion" or some such silly notion. Eh?

Well, think about it... the right hand is the most convenient location in which to place an RFID chip. It will not operate unless in close proximity to a scanner, so the hand is very easy to hold next to a scanner. And, of course, most people are right-handed... so obviously the right hand would be the obvious place to put the RFID chip.

However, what do you do with someone who has lost their right arm? The fallback position would need to be one which everyone has, without exception. One cannot live without a head, duh, so the forehead would be the logical place for a back-up location.

As to the tattoo... what happens when someone needs an MRI or something similar that would interfere with the chip? You need some way to specifically mark where it is, so it can be removed and re-inserted after the procedure. That means the mark has to be in the exact location of the chip. Finally, what happens if (when) the chip malfunctions? There needs to be a backup method to access your database, and that can be accomplished by making the tattoo into a type of bar code (UPC) that can be read by laser.

The Mark of the Beast was touted as pure science fiction for a long, long time, but technology has caught up and it is literally possible already. I personally find it astounding that nearly 2000 years ago, a man sitting in exile on the Isle of Patmos saw all this technology that was at the time even beyond science fiction. Now all that is needed is to convince the majority of people to allow it to be required.

Enter a MSM-promoted virus from a lab in Wuhan, China...

Is it your position that Gov. Hochul is violating the tenets of Christianity by speaking to Christians about what God wants? Are all Christians telling other Christians that God wants them and their neighbors, whom they love, safe from COVID and to get the vaccine, also violating the tenets of Christianity? Because there seems to be a lot of Christians going around telling other Christians what "God" wants.

Why would I oppose prayer?

Awe, that's so cute! You think the National Prayer Breakfast is about actual "prayer" and not a political platform for lobbying on behalf of the the Christian right! LOL

I acknowledge my ignorance. I went and did some reading. There appears to be a number of variation of the tenets of Christianity. This one caught my attention as relevant to this thread and trump

God wants us to humble ourselves, confess our sins, acknowledge our need for His forgiveness, and ask Him to save us through the payment that Jesus made for our sins. If we are sincerely humble and want God to save us and change us, He will. He will forgive us. He will grant us repentance (turn us away from our sinful desires). He will give us eternal life, starting from the moment He saves us and continuing for all eternity. After this life is over, we’ll spend forever in Heaven with Him.

I somehow imagine the first few requirements to be very difficult for trump lol.
