Nothing like a COINCIDENCE

There is a Huge Monolith on Mars Moon

The mysterious object was spotted several years ago by a NASA probe, and to this day nobody is quite sure what it is or how it got there

"When people find out about that they are going to say, 'Who put that there? Who put that there?'"

These are the words of Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the Moon, in 2009. He was talking about a peculiar and solitary large rock, a monolith, that sits on the surface of the Martian moon Phobos. .......

Here's the path of how you would drive in there...

No trailer is going in there though, but that thing isn't that big to need one. Just strap it to the roll cage on a Jeep and you'd be good to go. I could get my Wrangler into this place, piece-o-cake.

ETA - There's an even easier way if you just stayed in the wash for a ways south, but I'd rather take the steeps out of there than stay down in the sand. Might not be too bad right now, but in the summer time that sand down in the bottom would be serious blow-sand (i.e. tough running).

No, it's the right area. If you look carefully, the rock formations are identical. It's just shaped differently than you would expect seeing it from above.

Well if that's it then it's been there for some time and rules out the rangers putting it there. Fascinating stuff.

Me....it's triangular like a giant metal toblarone!

the guys are looking down inside of it.....And yes, it is triangular shaped

Does that mean someone has stolen the chocolate from inside!!!!
The shock...the horror!!!
The giant triangles of chocolate stolen from inside, is nothing sacred anymore!!!!

Why do you say that? I just posted a path you can drive right in there on. This area washes out regularly. Even in the video you can see a wet area where it has rained recently. Someone could set something in a location like this and two days later there wouldn't be a track to be found down in that wash bottom. Only thing you might find would be some black tire skid marks from climbing out about a half mile south (if even that). There's one fairly steep climb out of there, right at the ridge line. But, like I noted, there's an even easier way out if you just keep going south. If it wasn't for the sand down in the bottom of that wash, you could probably drive in there with a 2x4. With that sand you'd definitely need a 4x4.

Plus, a UTV and/or an ATV would make it in there easy-peazy.

I nominate FCD to drive out there and take some real good photos and video for us.

Yes, it would appear someone has liberated the chocolate from inside. Wouldn't have been a bar for long, maybe more like chocolate syrup / goo.

That, or it drained out into the sand. This area often gets in the 110-115 F range during the summer. It's HOT down there!

I would absolutely LOVE to!! Probably about an 6-7 hour drive for me from here though, maybe more. It's pretty far. I've got a coworker who just came back from there not two weeks ago. He was a little further south and west though. This is a stunningly beautiful area!

Forget sending you down to snap pics, I say we send you on a man hunt for the SOB who stole the chocolate triangles from inside, we need to start a fund for supplies and fuel!!!!

If you actually did it, with video of the trip it would be an absolute epic of a thread on ATS. Even just the views of the place would be cool. Wish I lived further west. Lot's of cool stuff out that way.

The irony of that picture is just too, well, ironic.

Not fifteen minutes from this location is where the first Tyrannosaurus Rex bones were found! No kidding either! It's a truly amazing area.

Alien space chocolate doesn't melt dude! If you peel that metal foil back, I bet you it's not only filled with chocolate but dare I say it, a creamy gooey space nougat! Which could lead us to one conclusion, space peanuts are in that sucker. Damn I'm hungry! It's also worth noting that when I looked this up in the Google Earth desktop app, it appears that the image was taken in 2016. I tried going back in the history but couldn't tell if it was there prior to 2016.

Because it seems to be visible on the satellite picture so how long ago was that taken ?

is where the first Tyrannosaurus Rex bones were found!

How sad is that!?
Maybe those giant metal Toblerones fell to earth during the Late Cretaceous Period and those poor T-rexs couldn't open them because their arms were to short and they starved to death, now this is the first time the sand has washed away!

We now really need to send you out there FCD to see if the corners have fossilized chew marks on because the T-rex couldn't open it!!

I'll need more diesel fuel than gasoline. The Jeep gets loaded on the trailer and hauled to the location on my goosneck flatbed.

Just mapped it out. It's about 7 hours from here to Moab, and this location is about 17 miles south of Moab, as the crow flies. I'd have to look closer at how many road miles it is, probably 4x-5x times that many. Some pretty rugged terrain between Moab and this location. Plus, looks like two mountains to cross, and a big valley to get across, along with several sizable river crossings which could take some time to figure out. When I went through here before we came from the south, but that's a LOT further (like days further).

I'd also need at least one other Jeep. You don't go out in these areas with just one vehicle, that's suicide in the desert. Anybody else got a Jeep or hard-core 4x4 (built out Taco's, etc.) want to go? I can get (2) Jeeps on my trailer if you can make it to CO. You'll need a SWB and a winch, straps with hardware, traction boards and an air compressor. Probably be well served if you can unpin your sway bars also, not mandatory, but it will help keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down. Roll cage for sure! Oh, and a shovel.

Whatever it is, I'm sure we're all going to be real disappointed when we find out but this is definitely a welcome break from the election yaya.
