What I know about molecular biology you could write on a... well, a molecule! But I find this MD Roger Seheult’s regular updates pretty useful.

The Zinc part is from around 3min 40sec...
youtu.be...

Apparently the virus ‘tricks’ it’s way into a cell, then the cell does the work replicating the virus. According to him Zinc can kill the virus, but it can’t trick it’s way in. Hydroxychloriquine let’s the zinc into the cell. Forgive me if I got some of that wrong, it was some time ago that I watched it.

I think it was a later video that he suggested Quercetin might contribute towards allowing zinc into the cell. Well I hope so cos I bought the motherload!

The issue here is that it works in a lab in Petri dishes (or the equivalent.) But that's a long way from "giving it to George and George gets a benefit." Humans are such ...variable... creatures (the physical differences you see are a good example of how different we are metabolically and on the inside (structurally.)) Quite literally, no two humans are exactly alike. So stuff that works on mice (which are populations of genetically identical creatures) or "in vitro" (in a Petri dish) can fail spectacularly in humans.

They have been trying this approach in several hospitals (zinc, etc) but no hospital has reported any amazing results (although results have been reported and some have reported adverse impacts and stopped the trials.) We do get the occasional doctor, but nothing from a "monitored by other people" type of situation. We're looking for results that are better than the old "have some of mother's chicken soup" (and yes, I know that it's actually good for some things).

Something with a 90-95% impact.

No paywall here, but it doesn't tell me much even after reading the entire article. The main thing it links back to is the same link Byrd posted a few pages back about the US Western States Pact to make decisions for California, Oregon and Washington based on science and health and not on politics, etc:

Washington, Oregon and California announce Western States Pact

The article did mention a few possibilities, but nothing definite, like eventually allowing restaurants to re-open if they had the seating layouts changed to accommodate social distancing, meaning it could cut the seating capacity in half (or perhaps less). Maybe no more handshakes allowed, for some time, but not a lot definite yet. They don't know when the stay at home orders will end.

My internet has been out since Friday so a little out of the loop here. Here's an update for Oneida county NY:
www.wktv.com...

UTICA, N.Y. – Another Oneida County resident has died from coronavirus, which is the fourth death reported in the county since the coronavirus outbreak started to spread across the state. Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente said Tuesday there are 13 new positive cases in the county, bringing the total of people who have tested positive to 224.

Yeah I am surprised this is not being picked up by other outlets or discussed at length anywhere really.
So the US has funded research in this area at the Wuhan lab. It's pretty big, I hadn't seen it before either, to my recollection (these threads are long)
I feel the truth is out there!
I also read Raab's comment about how we can't politicise this and the fact the UK government (and others) don't seem to ever discuss true origin in detail makes me think they all know how it started and are covering it up.
There is no real debate or discussion about it in the mainstream.

Trump was just saying that he plans to open up some states before May 1st.

I doubt Fauci and Birx would agree with that.

If things open up too soon, and without being cautious, we are going to be headed for a second peak very quickly, and it could be worse.

So were are these adverse reports? Seen doctors in China and New York saying it works and only you saying it doesn't.

So would be nice to get the information from a verified source rather than an anonymous forum poster.

Thanks for that informative link, which confirms the possibility of a lab accident is being considered, but it's still unknown. I appreciated the comments in that article that such a virus might have been classified as BSL-2 or BioSafety Level 2 which may not have put enough containment in place, since the risk wasn't fully appreciated. Maybe BSL-2 classification is not high enough for this type of virus. Ebola is contained at level 4 which is a more effective containment.

So whether COVID-19 in humans resulted from a lab accident or not, it won't hurt to re-consider lab safety procedures and hazard level classifications, which hopefully will happen as a result of this pandemic.

BBC Live Feed and probably everywhere else :

- 00h22 : " Trumps halts US funding of W.H.O. "

"I am directing my administration to halt funding while a review is conducted to access the World Health Organization's role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus," says Trump.

"The WHO failed in its basic duty and it must be held accountable," he adds.

BBC Feed quote :

Trump also accused the WHO of putting political correctness above saving lives and taking China's claims about the outbreak at face value.

Mr Trump has accused the WHO of being biased towards China in recent weeks, and recently attacked the organisation for being too “China-centric” in its tackling of the coronavirus pandemic.

US financial contributions to the WHO accounted for just under 15% of its funding in 2019.

The US decided against using a coronavirus test approved by the WHO in January, in favour of a test being developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - but some of them did not work properly, and led to inconclusive results.

Another quote from Trump at the briefing :

"Many countries said they were going to listen to the WHO and they have problems now the likes of which they cannot believe," Trump continues.

He adds: "The world received all sorts of false information about misinformation and mortality."

If the WHO had gone to China to oversee the outbreak, mores lives would have been saved, he claims, adding that "their reliance on China's disclosures... likely caused a 20-fold increase in cases worldwide and it may be much more than that."

"So much death has been caused by their mistakes," he says.

A lot of places are citing this tweet From President Trump from January 24th : Tweet

China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!

A quote from the questions to President Trump :

Trump is asked why he previously praised China's "transparency" but is today saying their "so-called transparency" cost lives.

"Well you know if I’m so good to China then why am I the only person that closed our border so tightly to China?" he hits back.

"I don't talk about China's transparency!" he adds.

In fact, on 24 January, whilst negotiating a trade deal, Trump tweeted: "China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency."

Furthermore, other countries have also tightened their borders, and banned non-essential travel, in response to the outbreak.

This final quote from the Guardian Live Feed today, sums it up :

That’s it for this blog for today (it’s seen enough).

Calcium channel blocker amlodipine besylate is associated with reduced case fatality rate of COVID-19 patients with hypertension

Another preprint.

From the article:

Patients with comorbidity such as hypertension suffer more severe infection with elevated case fatality rate. Development of effective anti-viral drug is in urgent need to treat COVID-19 patients. Here we report that calcium channel blockers (CCBs), a type of anti-hypertension drugs that are widely used in the clinics, can significantly inhibit the post-entry replication events of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro

So in the lab, amlodipine besylate seems to slow down the rate at which the virus reproduces.

Retrospective clinical investigation of COVID-19 patients revealed that the CCB amlodipine besylate administration distinctly reduced the case fatality rate of patients with hypertension. Results from this study suggest that CCB administration for COVID-19 patients with hypertension as the comorbidity might improve the disease outcome.

Reevaluation of cases in people who have high blood pressure and who had COVID-19 shows that those who took amlodipine besylate seem to have a lower death rate.

Treatment regime

Combined treatment with chloroquine and CCBs significantly enhanced the anti-SARS-CoV-2 efficacy.

So they were using chloroquine therapy at these hospitals.

Actual title of paper: "No evidence of clinical efficacy of hydroxychloroquine in patients hospitalized for COVID-19 infection with oxygen requirement: results of a study using routinely collected data to emulate a target trial"

...

Conclusion: Drug isn't effective.

Did they include the actual component of the therapy that is actually what inhibits the virus?

You know... the Zinc?

No?

Conclusion: this study is not only worthless wrt deciding on the efficacy of the treatment in question, it was deliberately sabotaged by those who want to maintain their positions of power - those in the medical mafia.

Yeah. Without the zinc, they might as well just put the hydroxychloroquine in the hands of a tribal medicine man and had him dance around the beds of the patients, waving it over their bodies, and then draw their conclusions from those results.

IMHO.

Hi guys. I am baffled by the different outcomes of the virus in different countries. What could affect so much the outcome?

Anyways an update From Chile and Ecuador: (All links translated by Google Translate)

First Chile: Total Cases: 7.917; Total Recovered: 2.646 (recovered with no tests, 14 days after being testes they are deemed recovered); In Hospital: 379; Death:92 (There is a polemic about deaths)

Cases per day:

/Note by me: the 12th of April I find it weird, it was the day that the "president" said the update. A lot here think (me included, you will know why if you read the complete post) it was a fake number because he said it and not the health minister + it was Easter + he was inaugurating a new hospital. He didn't say the death numbers. It was said later by another person.

- Now the polemic towards the death count: Source, it was reported by international news networks, not national news (weird huh?).

April 7th, the health minister when giving out the daily number count said:

"We have 898 patients who are no longer contagious, who are not a source of contagion for others and we include them as recovered . These are the people who have completed 14 days of diagnosis or who unfortunately have died"

Mañalich explained that including the dead in the "recovered" section of Covid-19 is a definition that "international experts" advise. Today, the minister confirmed that Chile will issue an identification card to those people who, having recovered from the virus, no longer pose a risk of infection to others.

Some days after this he said (from Source):

"We have subtracted deceased patients from here onwards so as not to induce any error".

There you have it. One of the ways to fake numbers of deaths. I do NOT trust my government with any numbers. And if you are asking, "Aren't any 3rd parties inspecting the data by the government?" Here is your answer (from Source):

"The table does not have its own value just because it exists, but rather that we have to respond to the needs that society raises (...) we have not even had access to the criteria that have been taken to implement the measures, or the Georeferenced maps that tell us where the cases are, "accused the president of the Izkia Siches Medical College in her interview this Sunday, on the TVN National State program, assuring that the specialists that the government claims to consult, have not been able to know even detailed data on the contingency since the health emergency began.

Hi guys. I am baffled by the different outcomes of the virus in different countries. What could affect so much the outcome?
Some things that come to mind:

-There are different strains of the virus. Some are worse than others.
-The medical technology, training and treatment capabilities and procedures vary.
-Testing and reporting capabilities vary so the numbers aren't always an "apples to apples" comparison.
-If there are more older people in the population, death rates might be higher because people 65 and older don't fare as well.
-Other population characteristics besides age may be at work, like obesity, hypertension, or diet related health issues.

I do NOT trust my any numbers.

I don't either. But what may be more important to know is whether there is a surplus or shortage of available hospital beds. Regardless of the accuracy of the numbers, if there are available hospital beds and staff to care for the patients, treatment is likely to be much better than in places overwhelmed in triage mode where there aren't enough beds or medical staff to handle the influx of patients. I saw that California was sending some medical staff to New York because New York is overwhelmed and California isn't. That kind of thing matters and even if the numbers aren't accurate, New York definitely seems to be in worse shape than California.

This is a news about Ecuador Source:

Guayaquil , in the southwest of Ecuador , suffers like no other city in Latin America from the destructive force of the pandemic. Hospitals and cemeteries collapsed when the worst is still missing. "There is no room for the living or the dead," says Mayor Cynthia Viteri

- Guayaquil carries the weight of the dead. What are the actual numbers?

The numbers we have of deaths are not real for a single reason, because there are no tests to determine how many people are actually infected in the city and in the country.

And patients die without ever having had a test, and there is no space, time or resources to be able to do subsequent examinations and know whether or not he died of coronavirus. Then the number will be known when this tragedy, this nightmare, ends here.

In the month of March alone, there were 1,500 more deaths than in the month of March last year.

People keep falling in houses, in hospitals, everywhere. Why? Because this brings something secondary: there are still women who need to give birth, there are still being run over, people with diabetes and hypertension.

One hundred people died last month from not having dialysis here. Why? Because there is no space, because there is no supply, because our doctors have also fallen ill. In the municipality alone, we have lost around 50 people (officials).

April 13th, there was this news Source:

700 bodies are removed from homes in Guayaquil, the nucleus of the coronavirus pandemic in Ecuador

"The amount that we have collected, with the task force in homes, exceeded 700 people" died, said Jorge Wated, who leads a team of police and military created by the Executive before the chaos unleashed in Guayaquil by Covid-19 , which slowed down the transfer of bodies.

Wated did not specify the causes of those deaths that occurred during the pandemic health emergency, which in Ecuador leaves 7,500 cases , including 333 deaths, since the presence of the virus was declared on February 29.
