Man, don’t talk like that. You need to fight for your family! Push yourself harder than you ever pushed yourself. Look at your family really good, doesn’t that make you want to fight?!?! For me, I am not going out like but I also was in the Marines.

I can't really see it getting to that point though. It hasn't in other countries. Just mass quarantines. Maybe some fist fights over TP. I know Americans are not too keen on following orders but I don't see it going full Mad Max.

lol... sorry... passionate!

I got that you were being supportive, and thank you!

I'm just frustrated because we're all distancing ourselves from each other... and that I have to also... in opposition to the official or government stance (which makes it hard).

I really like my people and being out and talking, presenting, etc.... don't want to be isolated... and I see if we all took a big hit weeks ago for two weeks, we could have spent that time working on learning how to function as an isolated society... we would have lost very little, and by now would be almost back to normal, albeit, functioning a bit differently, with many daily restrictions and a multi year viral threat hanging over our heads... instead of watching society loose 10% of it's value daily!

Months after this started, we are still staring down the barrel of the unknown, because of our inability to share information and work together... which is frankly unacceptable!

Talking about a national curfew. New York changing laws about alcohol, so that winery's and bars can deliver?? Did I hear that right?

No sweat. Not like we are not under any pressure here or anything.

It's hard, it is going to get harder, and it will be for longer than most of us think. Hope I am wrong.

MGM closing all Las Vegas properties, hotels and casinos:

So is Wynn.

Wynn to close Las Vegas properties for 2 weeks

Wynn Resorts Ltd. is set to close its two Las Vegas properties beginning 6 p.m. Tuesday to help stem the spread of the coronavirus.

The closure is expected to last two weeks, after which Wynn “will evaluate the situation,” according to a Sunday statement from the company.

All full-time Wynn Las Vegas and Encore employees will continue to be paid during the shutdown, and a limited number of employees and management will remain at the properties to secure and maintain the facility.

I so loved visiting South Africa years ago. Would you post more details about some of the serious hurdles that the country faces at trying to get control [if possible] of this.
Are they planning to restrict travel to the homelands and what about return?
There are lots of cultural challenges so exactly how do they plan to get everyone on board?
It must be very challenging there right now with the electricity shortages and rolling blackouts. Bries are fun but how can hospitals operate?
How is the water shortage there?
Stay safe! I think you will be facing some troubling times ahead.

I don't think you are wrong... especially with the way we are handling it.... which is sad.

But, like I said, I maintain a positive outlook in the inherent good of people, and while I think we are going to be dealing with the virus for the next few years, and the economic impact for the next decade, we can use this to rebound in a positive way, and quicker than people will expect... we all just have to be very vocal and supportive of each other's freedoms.

This event will see the fall of dynasties, but will conversely lead to new empires and social paradigms... let's aim and push for an open and free resolution to this calamity.

Interesting. I read that it was related to a deal between China & Italy - Wuhan apparently had a deal with Italy with regards to Italian leather. The Chinese meat may be what was heading the other way..

Also Wuhan / Italy are very, very familiar with each other on the business side of things apparently, leading to frequent travel between both countries.

Absolutely right. Not a Marine here but trained in jujitsu by someone who told me, "If you can think, 'it's over', then it's not over. KEEP FIGHTING."

I wonder when Whole Foods will stop serving food in the open style buffet. When I was last there customers were wearing gloves and masks and the staff were feverishly cleaning shelves and even trash containers.
However they still had loads of prepared, cooked food accessible to the general public. I din't feel very reassured to see just the glass domes that apparently are to protect the food from germs.
The other customers didn't either and no one while I was there stepped one foot near it.

A family member drives across D/FW Metro all day for work. He said he estimates traffic is less than 10% what is normal for a Monday morning rush hour. I went to check on traffic cams and they are sparse and the most of what you do see is not passenger vehicles but semi trucks hauling the goods.
Check your local areas to see what it looks like your way. www.txdot.gov...

Does anyone know if churches were full or bare yesterday?

More than half the Dutch cases in ICU are patients under 50 (one is a 16-year old female)

They also report that the main risk factor is obesity, wow!

Do you have a link, by chance?

Like others, the obesity epidemic in the US (and other countries) has been on my mind. Obesity kills.... even without a nasty virus. So if obesity is a major risk factor with coronavirus, then the US better brace itself. Grim.

That is enormously important information. Great find. We know that the virus spreads in many different ways so now should we be including food, like the meat exported to Italy?
I had an interesting experience at King Soopers the other day. I went to pick up some shrimp and it wasn't busy so I asked where the shrimp came from. The seafood clerk told me that it came from fish farms in Vietnam.
Why on earth would we be importing farmed shrimp from Vietnam? He told me that the company did extensive testing at the farms to ensure that the shrimp were good. I din't buy any. After all we have much better controls over the safety of our food.
I bet we are going to find a lot of food imports that may possibly be contaminated. Hopefully enough time has elapsed that the virus would die off but then shrimp and the like are frozen so the virus would last longer.

In West Yorkshire, England.

Son just returned home from school, one of his friends dads supposedly knows someone high up in the education system here, and he's told him schools in the region will be ordered to shut this Friday.

Son then says - we thought it was odd this morning, we were all asked how good our internet is at home.

www.usda.gov...

"We are not aware of any reports at this time of human illnesses that suggest COVID-19 can be transmitted by food or food packaging. However, it is always important to follow good hygiene practices (i.e., wash hands and surfaces often, separate raw meat from other foods, cook to the right temperature, and refrigerate foods promptly) when handling or preparing foods."

You can't get it through food

" Experience with SARS and MERS suggest that people are not infected with the virus through food. So, it is unlikely the virus is passed on through food and there is no evidence yet of this happening with COVID-19 (coronavirus) to date.

Coronaviruses need a host (animal or human) to grow in and cannot grow in food. Thorough cooking is expected to kill the virus because we know that a heat treatment of at least 30min at 60ºC is effective with SARS."
