There is so much predictive programming all around people living underground for long periods and then emerging centuries later to a new world.
Logan's Run is one movie that comes to mind.
What movie was it where the elite would make human sacrifices to those that remain above ground who survived but are mutants? We really do not know what condition any survivors will be in after they have survived round after round of infection.

A new case in Lexington county in South Carolina with no known travel or contact with anyone else. A new case in Horry county with little to no information as well. Sounds like community spread to me, when will our governor close schools? Really missing Nikki Haley, for all her flaws she could handle a disaster.

I'm waiting on the Japan report of the subway and train transits for Tokyo on this Wednesday. That will give us all a true report of what to expect in high density transportation hubs around the world. So far, Tokyo govt . has be honest with us.
But lets face it with precaution, no leader wants a mob of crazy panics on the streets. Hope it doesn't happen here all too soon.

If you cannot acknowledge this perspective as just as valid as your doom-porn end-of-the-world doomsday bio-weapon theory, then your perceptions are clouded

I have said it before, just please stop.

Nowhere have I said it is the end of the world.

Also, I do not believe I have ever said it was a bioweapon. As a matter of fact if you can show me where I said that I will apologize because I do not think it is a weapon.

Now you just seem to be spitballing trying to stay relevant in a story which is evolving to point to where your opinions are quickly being shown to be outdated.

Just ignore him. He has his opinion, it is no more valid or invalid than any of ours. Many are trying to hold on to the dwindling thought that this is just another flu. I have several in my family.

We just need to wait and see, but things are looking more and more dire every day.

We also were very ill in January. We had traveled and what you describe is spot on. Interesting my partner was very ill and I was less affected but still it was awful.
I was so concerned that I took him to the Dr because I was convinced he had pneumonia. His symptoms were dismissed with no treatment prescribed. In fact he was laughed at and told he was over reacting. He had the forethought to wear a mask because he was worried others would catch it.
Our child came with us on the trip. He did not get sick. Not even a sniffle.

This is important. He confessed he had forgotten his toothbrush and had been using mine the entire trip!
So he was not infected when he should have been.

UK confirmed now at 1372 up from 1140 yesterday. Deaths at 35 up from 21 yesterday.

Last shopping trip to the supermarket today, it was madness even the chocolate section was empty, very busy with long queues and I saw someone wearing a mask with a trolley full of water and tissue items.

I’m in the midlands.

Sadly the people who hold on so tightly that this virus is a “nothingburger” will simply disappear when they can’t even deny it with a straight face .

It’s been 3-4 months and nobody knows exactly what this virus is all about .

We all can also agree that we don’t know the true numbers .

Watch for National Guard units to begin to significantly mobilize in the next few weeks. Other states will usually follow the initial example just like with closures.

Keep in mind these are medical and area support units so please don't freak out and go nuts. These are people with normal jobs like you and me, they now have to turn down possible civilian opportunities and be away from families during a time of crisis.

They are college students, researchers, laborers, teachers, parents, children, brothers and sisters. They won't act scared or nervous because they are trained to set the example and protect those in need. Just be aware of that when interacting with them.

You get to go home, they don't and there aren't many people who can handle that type of stress when people start acting a little crazy when exposed to pressure. If you need help, they will put you first, if you act like an animal, you'll be treated as such.

Believe me, I'll take an army medic or Healthcare professional over a 2 year nurse or overworked civilian professional any day.

Excellent point. One which, I'm sure, will need to be reiterated over the next month or so.
Unfortunately, that won't stop the conspiracists from running crazy with the Guard presence.
This DOES make me wish I was back in. This is what we trained for. I really miss being part of the military medical establishment. Definitely a special breed.

It's spreading in USA as we speak. Why would USA be any different than other parts of the world? There is no room for panicking however more panic will happen if it turns out your government is hidi g and downplaying things just to avoid panic. Tell it how it is.

I know so many who were sick with what you describe anywhere from Nov.-Jan.
Multiple urgent care and doctor trips and all tested negative for flu/strep/mono.
It will be interesting to see if those who were sick over winter in the US catch or do not catch it.

I really respect this guy. Seems to be very level headed. He does not sugar coat, but does not scream "the sky is falling" either.

Still, it is just the flu, right?

No virus is going to cause nuclear power plants to go into meltdown if they run low on staff or any other worker issues they shut the plant down

Nuclear powerplants meltdown from sudden large events it would essentially take the zombie apocalypse to have powerplants meltdown from sudden lack of staff

I do worry because all of us have posted over and over concerns about the reluctance of governments to do the right thing in the face of the corona virus. Difficult things and unpopular decisions. We have watched our predictions come true.
We all knew it was essential that China should have been banned from traveling around the world as soon as the situation in Wuhan unfolded.
We watched in horror how the Chinese government treated their citizens and we knew that something extraordinary was taking place.
We now really need to set up contingencies to protect essential services.
Since we have seen that younger people on the whole are not seriously impacted, they should be given first priority to be trained as back up.There are many brilliant students attending universities that may find themselves in limbo in the future. Over and over we have seen youth unemployed and unengaged become very disruptive to society because they have nothing to do.
That energy should be redirected to having a purpose. I am going to say the awful words "drafted."
Really difficult decisions need to be made.
I am not reassured at all.

I mentioned in an earlier post about a month ago that I noticed my local Home Depot was selling out of vegetable plants as fast as they could stock them. I noticed this morning that a lot of related items (plant pots, seeds, etc) are selling out on Amazon the same way that face masks did two months ago. It seems that a lot of people are very quickly trying to set up vegetable gardens to produce their own fresh food. Given that grow containers and plant pots are selling out now this suggests that these people are in urban areas and can't plant in the ground.
