They would do it to stimulate there economy, but in the end it would become nuclear, they may be willing to risk that during an economical collapse, start over per se, accept the pandemic accept the death and wage a war. I know your not arguing. Gotta get to work, try to do some buisness in this crap show. 🙋‍♂️

Well, I hope you are not right.

Have a good day at work, if you can.

Hi guys. Update from Chile:

Total Cases: 3,404; Dead:88; Recovered: 335 (As stated in a previous post, it's an estimate, they are not testing these people, just let it pass 14 days and add then as recovered) (Source) Hospitalized in ICU: 173 (they do not update this everyday it seems Source in spanish).

Respirators currently have between 70% and 80% of it's capacity used (not only by covid-19), it is estimated that there around 850 respirators in total. There are only 240 respirators available in the country. Government bought 900 new respirators that will arrive in May. Source in spanish.

7 communes in the capital are in total quarantine. 1 will end today after 7 days, tha mayor is asking for an extension of 7 days, also asking it's citizens to stay in their homes (Source), they extended quarantine for the other.
Easter Island in quarantine until April 17th.
Chillan, Temuco, Osorno, Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams under total quarantine. The rest of the country still no quarantine. Source Estimated inhabitants in complete quarantine: 1,993,341 About 10% of Chile's population.

Government will start to sanitize the streets, only in the capital and only in communes that are not under quarantine. They will just use chlorinated water. Source

Ecuador:
Yesterday someone posted about Ecuador. About the bodies that are being left at the houses of the family because the service is collapsed. Some are burning the bodies in the street. As stated in that post, not all the bodies are coronavirus related. Just posting this if you want to watch a few videos and/or read the news: Source

Stay safe guys.

No argument from me, either. However, a nuclear war just doesn't seem logical, unless you want to eradicate the virus and everything else living.

Even a conventional war would be difficult by way of reduced logistics. Also, what incentive would soldiers have to fight a war, unless for defence of their own country. Overwhelming an already overwhelmed country isn’t very patriotic, although, history teaches us otherwise.

I believe that just as "charity begins at home", then war begins at home, too. The risk of civil war is much higher, IMHO. Cain and Abel showed us the way and Man will just continue along the same path, sadly.

Stay safe, Bicent, MrRC and everyone.

Propublica article on "asymptomatic" people

The "tl;dr" version is that they went back and interviewed "asymptomatic" people and it turns out they weren't quite as asymptomatic as reported. They felt "a little down/somewhat tired/a bit under the weather" but not badly enough that they "felt sick."

So that "scratchy throat", headache, etc, may mean that someone you know has it.

Georgia's governor admitted this week that he didn't know asymptomatic people could carry COVID-19 (the article actually calls him an "idiot".) His quotes on this (in the article) make him sound as if he's just been ignoring everything.

Daily update from vermont: 338 confirmed cases, 17 deaths (up from 321 cases and 16 deaths)

Now that it's been announced I can share...

My company just "furloughed" 51 of our employees (8 of them worked under me directly, and 2 others were close friends)

A somber, gray day here.

Wishing you (and all of us) better times ahead...

www.dailyinterlake.com... UmMUpdM we in Montana arent suposed to hit peak tell end of april but 200ish cases and 6 deaths were doing a lot better then the larger states so far

Kalispell Regional Healthcare officials said Wednesday current medical research suggests Montana’s coronavirus outbreak most likely won’t peak until late April. To further prepare for that reality, local health-care leaders have ordered additional ventilators and are exploring the hospital’s ability to expand bed capacity. According to Doug Nelson, Chief Medical Officer for Kalispell Regional Healthcare, none of Flathead County’s COVID-positive patients are hospitalized at this time and are quarantining and recovering in their residences and elsewhere. But hospital officials continue to prepare for what they have said will likely be a large wave of more severe patients in need of intensive-care beds, ventilators and other supplies. The hospital system currently has 38 ventilators, 32 anesthesia machines that can be used for ventilators and 19 BiPaP units that typically are prescribed to sleep apnea patients. On top of this, Nelson said officials have placed an order for 42 temporary ventilators.
from other posts it seems most of our cases came from those trying to bunker down here and fleeing states that are having worse issues

Another update from Irvine, Southern California. I've been trying to contact waste management for about a week to get a replacement trash can. Nobody is answering calls. Their website says that email contact forms and live chat are both unavailable. Today is trash collection day in my neighborhood and so I ran outside to ask the guys collecting the trash if they knew another number to call. Usually there would be a crew of several people collecting the trash with at least two guys outside of the garbage truck helping to guide the grabber thing to pick up the trash cans. Today there was nobody outside the truck and only one person driving it and picking up the trash cans without help. We leave excess bags that won't fit into the trash can on the ground next to it and they take those (they tell customers to do this) but today those bags were left on the side of the road and not collected. I couldn't talk to the driver but this tells me that they are massively down in employee numbers despite being an essential service. Nobody working in support and down to one person collecting trash from a crew of 3-4 usually. I'm now expecting trash collection to have interruption of service soon too.

China will use Bear Bile, Goat horn and 3 herbs to treat critically ill coronavirus patients. Source

But the National Health Commission in March issued guidelines recommending the use of "Tan Re Qing" –- an injection that contains bear bile powder, goat horn and three other medicinal herbs –- to treat critically ill coronavirus patients.

The active ingredient in bear bile, ursodeoxycholic acid, is used to dissolve gallstones and treat liver disease but has no proven effectiveness in treating COVID-19.

There are about 20,000 bears being held in tiny cages under cruel conditions across China to cater to the demand from traditional medicine suppliers, said Kirsty Warren, a spokeswoman for World Animal Protection.

Search for "bear bile farm" in google... Sick and cruel
, I can see another virus emerging from this practice in the future.

Update for my county Oneida NY, we went from 55 to 68 today:
www.wktv.com...

UTICA, N.Y. – A total of 68 Oneida County residents have been diagnosed with coronavirus, after the county received 13 additional positive test results on Thursday.

And now a moment of stupidity. What is wrong with these people? :
www.wktv.com... 22261.html

CICERO, N.Y. – Two women from the Syracuse area were arrested for allegedly spraying employees at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet in Cicero with pepper spray after they were asked to leave the store. State police say Lenaysia A. Myles, 28, of Syracuse, and Imani R. Huggins, 23, of Cicero, said they had coronavirus and intentionally coughed in the faces of Ollie’s employees after the two were asked to leave the store. Two employees went to the parking lot in an attempt to get the license plate number of the car the women were in, when one of the suspects allegedly sprayed them with pepper spray.

It's official.

1,000,000 confirmed cases world wide. Although I think it is much higher than that.

www.worldometers.info...

I think it took 50 days to get to 100,000 confirmed cases globally , then just 25 more days to reach 1,000,000.

In our village, southern Scotland, 55 mins ago at 8pm we were out applauding our wonderful NHS staff for their efforts ... we even had one madman playing a trumpet (very badly but 10/10 for effort lol). How brave are our doctors and nurses the world over, eh ?

Am still keeping an eye on the Scotland/UK stats.

UK (inc Scotland) 8.6% deaths (deaths versus positive tests)
Scotland 4.8%

Scottish % has increased by 1.6% overnight. Government says it was caused by the late reporting of deaths over the last few days.

Worse to come I think. Our local general hospital has over 50 patients receiving intensive care. A friend who is a radiographer says the X Rays are showing very “cloudy” images from the lungs, which they usually only see in truly bad chest infections in those already weakened by poor health or the very old ... says it’s disturbing to see in otherwise healthy, younger people.
