Job cut today. Was working from home but hard to run a research lab, so 30 days or so but they don't know. Full pay so all good for a while.

That's bad news for you. Terrible...

I won't speak for the ATS community. But.. I know I have your back... Stay safe, stay strong... this is a marathon not a sprint.

I could delve into personal problems.

Not for me to share yet.

Dallas Independent School district is closing their playgrounds and they're asking folks to report violations.

It's a good idea... these playgrounds can become hangouts for teenagers as well as younger kids and families.

They are JUST NOW getting around to that?

Wow..

Yep. I expect a lot of cases starting a week from now. We will probably reach our peak in May.

I can't actually believe we haven't been including this data so far?
So if someone dies at home of corona they are not officially added to the stats? But will be from tomorrow on?! Why only now?
So bizarre to me.

From BBC Live Feed :

- 21.29 : "Coronavirus outbreak being felt in England and Wales prisons"

The number of prisoners in England and Wales infected with the virus has risen to 55 across 21 prisons, the Ministry of Justice has disclosed. However, BBC News has been told that around 1,000 prisoners across almost 100 jails were self-isolating at the end of last week.It suggests the impact of the outbreak is being felt in nearly all of the 117 prisons. Thirteen prison staff based at seven jails have tested positive, as have four prisoner escort workers. It’s understood that a number of pregnant prisoners are set to be released early to safeguard their health and relieve pressure on the prison system.

- 22.26 : France records highest daily toll.

Another 418 people have died of the coronavirus in France - the highest number of deaths in a 24-hour period.

The total death toll is now 3,024, although French officials only count those who die in hospitals.

A total of 44,550 people in France have now tested positive for Covid-19 - an 11% rise from yesterday.

Prisons are definitely looking like hotspots.

Oh... PreacherMan Death is at it again

From the news source:

(CNN)Remember the Louisiana pastor who defied the governor's order not to hold gatherings larger than 50 people?

He held services again on Sunday, and he plans to do so yet again on Tuesday night.

On Sunday, Pastor Tony Spell said, his Life Tabernacle Church in Baton Rouge drew about 1,000 people to its services, in part by busing people in from across five parishes.

Louisiana's numbers (population 4.8 million or so) is going to look like New York City's numbers (population 9 million or so) in the very near future. He's busing them in from small parishes and that's just going to decimate the area. It's poor, it's rural, and there's not a lot of doctors or hospitals.

French numbers up until now have only been counting those dying in Hospitals.
They are supposed to be adding those who died in Retirement homes some time this week, and possibly from other places, like local Clinics.
Its not going to be pretty.

I read somewhere that they are doing less testing, hence the lower case number.
So we can't really see that yet as being a good sign it is starting to slow down/reduce IMO.
Will look and see if i can find

I'm so effing furious about this! They knew to come home - they have known about this for ages! Why the hell did they fly on holiday? Serves them right. I personally would not repatriate at that expense. I would bring them home - but I would bill them for it. We can't fund our NHS properly, so no idea why we should pay for idiots who are stuck abroad.
Infuriates me!

Several hot spots talked about less testing to save PPE.

Other states only test if you have all symptoms and have been around someone who has been confirmed with the virus .

I think they are just trying to focus on the ones who need serious medical attention, and probably just assume it’s everywhere so why test .

I wish they hadn't fallen for it... the die is cast, the pants have been voluntarily dropped. The evidence of that fact is painfully obvious.

Well, it's not too late... but yeah, I hear you...

Just heard on CNBC that there is an antibody test about to be released. If so that's good, it should be able to show who has already had it, and should have some immunity. You should be able to do a random sample in a given population and get a much better estimate of where we are in this pandemic. Unlike the current tests which are looking for the virus an antibody test looks for antibodies, those that show antibodies and no virus should be immune for at least a period of time. Unfortunately, given how other Corona Viruses and the flu mutate, I doubt immunity is permanent. Hopefully we find out more people have been exposed than we thought and are further along than we're think we are. I pray that we are, and with as many people who are either asymptomatic or experience mild symptoms that's not a overly optimistic hope.

I'd really like to get back to work.

I'm not trying to slate Icke too much, I know he is not a hugely rich man and I know his reputation has suffered for his beliefs, but what I did in my post was watch him with my eyes and ears fully open. Or as open as they could be.

I have watched Icke and also Jones before and sort of just taken it all in - much like how we switch off when watching crap tv - and didn't really examine it enough. I really listened to what he said and his idea that the virus is bull is basically coming from 1 random doctor who wrote to him who is NOT linked in the description so we can check him out - and no other evidence. Now here on ATS we ask for sources, we analyse data, we look in depth.

I don't think it's wise to just listen to people like Icke and take it as truth. He has an agenda too - even if it isn't nefarious.

As I said, I like him to an extent - there are secret societies, Bilderberg etc - some of that stuff is true. But what I got sick of from the era I was reading that stuff was the whole ' wake up' - once society wakes up we will be free/they won't be in control anymore etc. Well, I think many of us are awake, we scrutinise things and don't take everything as truth.
It's a very vague term - wake up and raise awareness/consciousness - can you be more specific? I'm seriously not trying to be harsh but the term seems condescending to me almost.

His only real point to me was the concern about civil liberty in this post virus world. I do have concerns, I am sure we all do but there isn't much we can do about that right now. If the lockdown does slow the virus which in turn does actually save lives (which i think it will) then we just have to ride it out for the greater good. In many ways, we are coming together as a society worldwide to sacrifice our personal freedom for the health of others - the health of those we do not know. Surely that raising the overall consciousness of the world right? We are looking out for our fellow man and living less selfishly, at least for now.
If civil liberty is taken from us we won't take it lying down. But for Icke to present his opinion as fact - is actually quite dangerous and seems like he is just jumping on the virus bandwagon to stay relevant.

an update as well re: lockdown and if it's working:

At least 59,000 lives have already been saved in 11 European countries due to the social distancing measures introduced to stem the spread of Covid-19, new modelling suggests.

According to the analysis, 370 deaths have already been averted in the UK - where a nationwide lockdown came into effect just one week ago - while Italian interventions have saved 38,000 lives to date.

From French Live Feed :

- 21h20 : Sea Worm Blood could be used in Trials in France (Lugworm).
The method is to use the Haemoglobin of the Worm, it is apparently able to transport 40x more Oxygen than Human Haemoglobin.
Contrary to human haemoglobin, which is enclosed in the red blood cells, this animals is extra-cellular.
eidt : The idea is to use this blood as a sort of 'respirator' befoer the patient gets to a serious ER state.

- 21h30 : The ANSM (National Agency for the Security of Medication and Production) is investigating 30 counter-indications, and three Deaths, in patients who have Coronavirus.
They are investigating if these have arisen from the treatment administered : hydroxychloroquine, and also checking other medication, Kaletra (lopinavir/ritonavir retroviral).
From Dominique Martin, Director-General of ANSM.

- 21h55 : Clinical tests this Autumn/Fall.
Johnson and Johnson has announced that it has selected a candidate-vaccine for trials in the Autumn.
They indicate that they have signed an agreement with the Authority for Advanced Reaserch and Development in the Biomedical domain, associated with trrhe US government, to invest 1 Billion Dollars.
J&J began experimenting with the vaccine Ad26 Sars-Cov2, using the same technology they had used to develop a candidate-vaccine for Ebola.

(My best try at translating).

In the "oh, Florida man" department....

The Florida (not Louisianan) megachurch pastor who insisted on holding services was arrested. And then he posted his $500 bail 40 minutes later.

Any bets on whether he'll continue his behavior? My money's on "yes, he will."
