Looks like it’s up to 2 million through the US Small Business Emergency Relief Fund. Emergency loans that may not have to be paid back, dangerous spot to be in for a business owner financially.

And yet, there are people all over the beach.
Perhaps it's because lifeguards are pulled.

Looting has started in California. Police have been instructed not to make arrests for low level crimes and so now people are getting bold and just openly walking out of stores with stolen items. Several food banks have been looted too. Things are going to get a lot worse on several fronts before they get better.

Unless orders to shoot, this will only increase. I saw it at Fedco years ago, people just walking out with what they can. Police were helpless. Time to call in the National Guard.

People aren't isolating themselves, in a pharmacy yesterday I was talking to the owner about this virus, and a lady comes in joins the conversation and when I mentioned people that are sick aren't self isolating she informed us she was supposed to be and wasn't...

Please stay 6 feet away from me man. That’s crazy but that is how it’s spread . I kinda understand why China was welding people inside their homes now .

You shouldn’t have been at the pharmacy without proper PPE yourself .

To be fair, ALL high-quality face masks should be reserved for the Medical teams that move and treat the infected/possibly infected.
They are the ones helping us to eradicate this problem, and the ones most in need.
If they fail, we all fail.

The only reason you should be wearing a mask right now, is if you feel you are infected, and may infect others.

Its doom porn, but if we don't help the Medical Community, they'll never manage.
Right now, these people should be treated as GODS and GODESSES (and should be anyway, because they dedicate their working lives to keeping our lives 'normal' and safe.)

New to the forum, live in Michigan, invited by Tukota (thank you). I wanted to respond to your reply about the face masks.

My daughter lives in Connecticut and works for a large hospital system in Hartford. They had a meeting by phone today and were told that they should not be wearing gloves or using face masks out in the general public yet as they need to save them for when they are really going to be needed (not agreeing/disagreeing, just sharing). They also told her that they are in the prepping stage as they are gearing up for for what they feel is going to be a big onslaught 7-14 days from now. Later this afternoon she told me that the CT governor Ned Lamont, issued the "stay safe stay home" order which my son-in-law said means only essential businesses open, link below.

www.wfsb.com...

As for MI, my daughter-in-law's sister is a RN at St. John's Hospital in Detroit. She has a COVID-19 patient on her floor. She told her today that they are using bleach soaked towels at the base of the closed door and are in full hazmat gear going into the room. They do not have enough of the proper face masks and are sharing ONE that is disinfected between uses.

I completely agree that the medical personnel at the front lines of treating this should also be at the front of the lines for receiving the masks and necessary equipment and supplies. I also FIRMLY believe that we can help by staying in, and isolating! I have so many ways of communicating online and via phone with family and friends! Yes, the isolation is making me a little bat @#$* crazy, but, in the end, I feel, necessary.

A huge round of applause for those medical personnel that are at the front line of all of this!!

I got a hold of a friend who is a lab technician at our local hospital. I told her that if face mask supplies run out at her hospital, I would give her mine.

I prepared back in the end of january early februaury. I didn't hoard, just picked up a box of n95, and recently found another box and told her I have some surgical masks I would also give her. I hope it doesn't get that bad, but she said they are already pretty scarce.

My daughter is looking into making face masks according to a program online.

ANTIFAPPER identified... Now I see where your beef is, it isn't with the Coronavirus lockdown being called out as the fascist move it is, it's over my "slighting" the little ANTIFAP assholes' earlier tantrums in the US.

Coronavirus Update: March 20, 2020... "ANTIFA are bitches" says Coronavirus.

You might have missed my reply to your previous post :

This hospital network is a mess, I know quite a few there. A week or so ago they were telling tech and nurses the virus wasnt airborne and heavily rationing proper PPE, many were potentially exposed.

It’s not even completely their fault, they depend on Kanban inventory management with 5S and lean six sigma. Without the chain from Puerto Rico and then losing the Asian supply chains, they had weeks of supplies at the most.

Many networks depend on 1-2 weeks of materials in house with additional supplies in a central location and that’s it. Government supplies are being delivered in the next couple weeks.

A certain president would say America has the greatest economy the greatest work force in history.

Where are n95 mask being mass produced now ? Surely many factories can shut down normal operations and start pumping these out there . Has it even begun ?

Great...

It was just on our local news. One of the two now confirmed cases in Steuben County NY was at a lunch for a volunteer fire department on 3/14. There were over 100 people attending.

Now they are scrambling to find all the people that were there.

And who those 100 people had contact with in the last week.
possibly into the 1000's.
THIS is how this spreads.

Isolate as much as possible, self-distance as much as possible, and in 2-4 weeks we'll be fine.
If there is NO contact, it can't spread.

Just beleive that everyone has it, and treat them like the plague for a few weeks to a month.
It's not that demanding

Bingo! And this was just on the 13th. They were already telling people not to gather, but no enforcement.

People with fingers in their ears. I still have some in my family saying it is not as bad as the flu, nothing to worry about. One is my 90 year old aunt. She went to get her hair done today, because as of tomorrow hair dressers are closed state wide. I have been trying to warn her for weeks, but she just won't listen.

I fully expect her to get it, and probably die from it, which is sad. We won't even be able to go see her in the hospital or attend a funeral.

I went and got my hair cut today. Does that make me a bad person?

There was only two chairs in the waiting room, for distancing. Wasn't very many people in there anyhow, and no one coughing and I cleaned my hands later too.

I went to the store to get eggs. Which I can still do under a "shelter at home" order.

Pfft, no, that does not make you a bad person. We paid rent today, had a bumped up vet appointment, went to the mechanic (and boy, was he happy for the business) and went to several grocery stores.

If you're bad, and I'm bad, for going out, then the amount of elderly not taking advantage of the "Elderly Hours" now in place are diabolically evil. They seemed completely at ease, not panicky or worried. Friendly, happy, shaking hands here & there with people they appeared to know, standing comfortably close to others, etc.
I counted one employee in one store, and one customer in another with basic masks on. That's it. Nobody else was wearing any, not even the geezers. Stores were busy, but orderly, and it was evident that most were out not because they actually needed anything, but because they were goddamn bored to high hell & needed to get out of the house.

If there's one thing this Florida-raised beach kid has figured out, it's that Michiganders are easily bored to tears cooped up, and this "stay home" crap won't last long unless they start seeing people drop in droves. Which despite being told over and over with goalpost numbers being moved again and again, has not happened. They're starting to call bulls# up here, and it shows.

Has anyone seen this news about the doctor in Canada who has figured out a salt solution (under patent) for masks that can destroy airborne pathogens?

Regardless what anyone is telling you, the mask helps and so will a scarf. Its not foolproof though, but its the best thing we have.

Like the 3 coffee filter mask but would do a cloth buff over it to protect it from wind
