I just learned something that really disgusted me tonight. The towns near by that everybody shops in are separated by the Snake river- lower Idaho panhandle on one side, and Eastern Washington on the other.

A friend works for Costco in Washington, and was talking to my husband today. Last Saturday we saw on the news that lines went clear around the store, waiting for it to open so they could buy toilet paper.Same with Walmart. Our friend talked with quite a few customers that said they had come from Seattle- a 6.5-8 hour drive- to buy TP.

We haven't had any cases of Cov 19 yet, but I'm sure that's about to change. The two towns have a combined population of less than 50,000 and is known as a retirement community. Over 25% are senior citizens.

These two towns are estimated to service about 150,000 people from the outlying rural areas for major shopping and health care. There are 155 hospital beds to service the entire area, so it's not looking good.

Toilet paper is the new gold, I guess.

Jeez this sounds Horrible.. This coupled with the Chinese propaganda videos I saw on this thread earlier really does begin to paint a bleaker picture than we are led to believe.

Coincidentally, there was a long list of reasons to be positive circulating on LinkedIn today. Things such as Apple reopening 42 of it’s China stores, South Korea numbers declining, various vaccines bring trialled etc. I had a feeling this might be propaganda, as an effort to stabilise and rebuild the tragic direction of the economy. However, as mentioned above, I then saw videos of Chinese citizens returning to China off the back of the propaganda stating they are recovering, only to be put in isolation (looked more like prison, with less human rights). Does anyone know the current situ of China?

In other news, DOW Futures are tanking still.

I have a feeling employment and general work stress may be the least of our worries in a few weeks, we’ll see though.

All pointing to a new economy, digitised currency or the mark of the beast?

I'm just catching up from the nights movements.

Well done UK. Brilliant, this was a brilliant move. All countries should follow suit:

Coronavirus mortgage relief for homeowners
The government has announced new measures to help those facing financial difficulties during the coronavirus crisis.

Speaking at a news conference, Chancellor Rishi Sunak said mortgage lenders will offer a three month mortgage payment holiday to those struggling to pay.

He also said the government would go further if the financial help wasn't enough.

Update from my local small town and the hospital in the next town from me in North Wales UK-

Iv'e not been to town for a week or so,but yesterday I had to go to pick up medicine for my Dad and-
In my local small town today panic buying is in full swing-supermarket shelves are empty but the car parks are full, people everywhere(thats the day after we are told to stay at home unless for essentials).
Saw a few people wearing masks as well for the first time.
The rest of town is really quiet-its like everyone gravitated to the supermarkets like the zombies in "Dawn of the Dead."
It was bloody creepy if I am honest,I am not one to panic, but this gave me an eerie feeling in my stomach, seeing everyone thinking they have everything under control with their trolleys full of food and toilet rolls..

The hospital in the next town over,a worse situation-
My sisters friend is a nurse there, and is panicking(crying on the phone)-the whole hospital is in dissaray.overcrowded, jammed with people who think they have the virus demanding testing even though the hospital can't test, nurses don't have enough PPE and are being told to save it until they think a patient really has the virus(!)
Wales first death from the virus happened there 2 days ago..Wards have to get closed if a suspected case/patient with high temp occurs but not enough cleaners to clean so they just re open the ward and carry on using it(!)
All staff panicking they will catch the virus, some crying in the canteen/locker room.
Patients fighting in the car park over queues/parking spaces.
This is a smallish hospital in a small/medium sized town in Wales..god knows what its like in big city hospitals.

So its all getting a bit close and real for me now-and this is when there is only one confirmed case in my county, and 2 in the county next door(where the hospital I mentioned is).I can see the situation deteriorating rapidly over the coming weeks if its this bad already at this early stage.

My sister is freaking out about our parents(both in their 70s,Mum healthy,Dad bad chest, rock star level alcohol "enthusiast").
My sister was in the "its just the flu"camp until the last couple of days..well shes swapped teams now sure enough and has joined the panic brigade.

So fun times

Stay safe if you can everyone.

I don't know either. Regarding the blood... My daughter is still recovering from her Respiratory bug....

She had bloody noses that caused her to vomit blood for a while afterwards from draining.
She doesn't get bloody noses.

Looking back I think the cold medicine she was taking dried her right out to the point she bled.

I stopped her from taking them. Put in a humidifier and switched her to things like honey, salt water rinses etc.

Let me tell you though... when it happened I internally freaked. It was everywhere.
No bleeding since.

I'd like to know what else she was taking.

Kansas announced schools could not resume in school buildings for the rest of this school year, they had to pursue some type of online learning, whether virtual classes or other material. My daughter, who is a senior this year, was in tears. Imagine your last year of high school, everything you had been waiting for, and wham, it's over, cancelled. Nuts.

She was in the womb developing when 9/11 happened. Such a drama filled class I guess.

Even though we are not really "shut down", it really seems like you are driving around on Christmas day here in Kansas City, just hardly anyone outside, but it's not completely dead either.

Same boat. Very sad. She went to Junior Prom with her boyfriend last year so missing this one isn't really that bad, but the graduation...that's another matter. Private school, so it's not totally out of the question yet. But think it won't happen.

I told her "In my class there were guys getting drafted, for your class, you have this." She smiled a bit. Sort of.

The class of 2020 will always be the COVID class.

My college friend's daughter is also a senior in Kansas this year and facing the same thing. My oldest nephew is a sophomore, so at least he has a couple years left.

My sister is a little up in the air though. They don't have much available money, so they don't carry internet. Not sure how she's going to online school her three boys.

It's a little weird where we're at up in the Northland of KC. The county on one side of us has all its bars and restaurants still open. The county on the other side has them closed except for drive-thru, carry-out, and delivery. So we can still go to half our favorite haunts, but we can only order from the other half.

This is from an NBA account I follow.

Sources: Dr. Vivek Murthy, former US Surgeon general, told NBA owners today about coronavirus: If the United States had not hardened its stance across country, millions were at risk to die — and cases will likely only increase, like they did in Italy, over the next 2-to-3 months

The Community Blood Center serves nearly 60 hospitals in Missouri and Kansas. Seventy percent of the blood collected comes from blood drives . During this COVID-19 crisis, those have been canceled.

Elective surgeries are being canceled, but that only accounts for 10 percent of the blood supply. Some of the first to be affected by this shortage will be cancer patients, mothers in labor and accident victims.
