but it's good to keep perspective

I don’t wanna wave the “Bad-news Bears” Banner, but, there been ANY research into if this is sexually transmissible? Reason asking is it seems it can cross to fetuses. Yes I know those aren’t the same thing. If there is long-incubation, low symptoms/high-shedding, couldn’t this be a whole new ball-game. We can cough in the crooks of our own arms.....But.

If all viral STIs stay housed in the body, why not this?

It appears reaction to Coronavirus® has wreaked more carnage globally than the virus itself. Although a 2-3% mortality rate is nothing to sneeze at, it’s not exactly a Biblical plague either; even if virtually none of it passes the sniff test.

Given how Coronavirus® has been reported, coupled with how it’s been handled, its dubious origins, the alleged number of infected and deceased, as well as the age and general health of those who are reported to have died….something stinks.

Possible but very unlikely IMO.

A lot of evidence China, and indeed the rest of the world, is underreporting cases and virulence, not overreporting.

Better off being as prepared for the worst as we can, we just don't know exactly what will happen yet.

We will all find out soon when it hits anyway.

Does anyone get the feeling that China deliberately "dropped the ball" on this?

Seems like everything the Chinese government does supposedly to "combat" the virus ends up just so happening to turn out to be the worst thing they could do. (Example: administering steroid doses to infected persons. And apparently poor conditions at treatment centers facilitated further spread.)


Certainly the Chinese government gains by the outbreak giving them greater power over their own people. (At a cost to their overall economy .... but since when do totalitarians care about that?)

Yea, not too much scares me, but I'd be lying if I said, after reading all of that, that I wasn't scared.

I normally wouldn't put much stock into info like this but it's backed by pretty good sources.

It also dovetails somewhat into what tennisdawg was warning us about.

Same, each time I feel I've dug to the bottom of it all, the basement drops out, and I'm left reeling again.

The truth has value, and may help us survive this, need to find out what we can, while we still can.

So the worst case scenario that has a good chance of being true, is that this virus is essentially airborne HIV? And the likelihood of this being natural and not man-made/made in a lab is what? Because there are many other features of this virus that makes it quite potent in spreading. A perfect storm if you will, and I'm not one to believe in coincidences.

Plus you factor in the suspicious ways all governments are acting, and it most certainly smells bad. And this comes to the one thing that i think would allay peoples concern/prevent panic, and that is actual concrete trustworthy information as to what we are dealing with, unless of course the truth is what i just said, airborne HIV. Then i suppose the truth wouldn't reduce panic, and would explain the suspicious behavior and lack of any real, concrete, reliable information.

So yes, this whole thing stinks. So many weird things, sars and mers having no vaccine, then within such a short time span of this virus, so many places claiming that they have a vaccine in the works. Doesnt make sense to me.

I have been following this page for just the numbers. I refresh it a few times a day to see the slow but ominous increase, maybe a few or up to a few dozen each time I refresh. Last night I clicked it and it jumped from roughly 95k to 2.6 million. I was startled and did freak out for a bit. But it seems to have been an error and the site went down totally for a bit and then came back up with corrected numbers, roughly 95k. But I can imagine a lot of chicken little action during that error.

I have stepped away from the conversations for my own reasons (don't ask, long story), but I'll forgo that to just say this... I'd remind anyone, that to put corona and flu in competition with one another is incorrect. They aren't in a race against each other. They are in competition with you.
Both flu and corona are now prowling out there. Not just bears, but tigers too.

Do you no longer fear the bear because you now have tigers prowling too? It means, more vigilance, not transferred vigilance. Healthy fears are combated by a clear and rational head. Stay safe y'all.

A friend of mine works in a cash & carry here in England, he was saying yesterday that they've been "cleaned" out of cleaning supplies. 3's a-coming

I'm in a suburb of Houston to the southeast and stopped by a local Home Depot to look for storage containers that are rodent proof for dog food in preparation; didn't find anything suitable.

I did go looking in the cleaning and at the painters supply aisles for informational purposes. No masks of any kind and only one box of respirator cartridges in the painters aisles.

All of the generic sanitizing wipes, bleach based cleaners, and Lysol-type cleaners were gone but there were plenty of the name brand versions of each of the above available.

Plenty of pool shock on the shelf still, so might buy some of that my next trip out.

Gonna got the feed supply store soon because I'm sure they have rodent proof storage for prep levels of dog food.

Oh, I do have two friends down with the flu (both lab confirmed) right now too.

So how are we all holding up today? I've had a very stressful day, many of the people in my circle are teetering on the edge of acceptance of what's going on, with more people I think going backwards and are less accepting and more in denial than they were a day or so ago.

I was at a friend's, and he was on the phone to another friend whose pregnant fiance had been to the doctor's today. My friend mentioned the coronavirus, and I could hear from across the room the guy on the other end of the phone laugh and mock, and he said "You've been listening too much to Irvy". My friend told him no, he'd been watching the news, and quickly left the room because I was "going Northern Irish" in the other corner of the room, and i exploded into a shower of expletives because after the past week, I am sick sore and tired of people around me blaming me for the virus because I'm taking it seriously. I've been told by another friend that I'm going to have to apologise when it all turns out to be a scam.

I understand that the UK government are going slow, as are so many other countries, at moving the alert level to the next stage. I fully believe they are right to do so, because the virus is going to do what the virus is going to do. The real danger to life and limb, the thing that will cause more deaths than the virus, will be the panic if everyone comes out of denial at the same time.

Most of these people can't take it seriously without going into full scale panic, so denial is their only method of control. I get that, I understand the psychology, but it still means that if the SHTF, I'm far more likely to be killed by one of them than I am by the bloody virus!
