Remember, it was William Barr's father who hired Jeffrey Epstein to be a school teacher. And Barr's father happened to write that bizarre story about a guy being abducted and sold off planet as a sex slave.

The Epstein-Barr virus is also known more commonly as "mono." The "kissing disease."

Alice in Wonderland Syndrome? Never heard of that either.

I’m intrigued
Some people have speculated this Live Map of COVID (SARS CoV2) Mutation Strain is showing unnatural mutation, that it was created in a lab and got out. Bio weapon?
The map updates every 2 hours I think and is tracking this thing globally

:bedford.io...
’The novel coronavirus which is responsible for the emerging COVID-19 pandemic mutates at an average of about two mutations per month. After someone is exposed they will generally incubate the virus for ~5 days before symptoms develop and transmission occurs. Other research has shown that the "serial interval" of SARS-CoV-2 is ~7 days”

I feel the same way, is this hyped up or is it serious? Hard to figure it out.

The symptoms I read about last night was in most cases it started with a fever, then the dry cough, sore throat.Might be why they do temperature checks at airports. There’s an entire list on this Site

There’s also talk that the first people might have just died of what was assumed as the flu. So they are missed in the data.

If you look at some of the first two coronavirus update threads, people were arguing it wasn't real because there was no "hype". Not much media coverage, and what media coverage there was mostly said the virus wouldn't be a concern.

It's a bit cliche, but I agree with the "watch what they do, not what they say" thing.

China has quarantined and/or travel banned 400 million people. They have shut down factories, loosing untold amounts of money. Their gov literally gives zero f's about people, no way they would do this if it wasn't bad.

Italy has quarantined towns.

Many countries have stopped air travel to effected areas.

Economies worldwide loose vast amounts daily due to losses directly virus related - tourism, lots of stuff comes from China.

The governments of countries worldwide are spending billions preparing for a pandemic, they are telling their citizens to prepare for a pandemic.

Reports worldwide of people being infected by coronavirus and some of them dying. Data showing exponential growth of infected numbers in some regions.

Nothing like this has ever happened before. Ebola and SARS were all talk, they didn't do anything.

Anyway best of luck.

Can someone explain to me how masks don't protect the public but do protect health care workers? It seems to me that they would protect or not protect a person, period. Is this just trying to address a shortage?

Yes, a con, trying to keep all the masks for "essential services". Although a mask, for not catching the virus, so I can keep breathing, seems pretty essential to me.

The SG just wins prize for one of the most hypocritical contradictory BS statements of all time. Swear that quote will become famous.

I think it's a nice way to let us know he doesn't give a damn if we live or die. I'm thinking they should have made better prep plans themselves.

If Public Health and hospitals don't have the foresight to stock up on nonperishables before a crisis ever hits.....while so many of us plebs do....that is just stupid and negligent.

Ahem. If I wasn’t so sound of mind and I had a family,
I might find a reason to look this fella up and pay him a visit. Maybe he could explain in more clear and layman’s terms what he mean, exactly.

But we are such humble folk here at ATS.
Just low good people with no such notions....

I do believe it’s serious and I’m exercising all the precautions. Part of me is a bit shocked or scared. I’m thinking we’re about 3 weeks away from it setting in to all those around me that it’s not a joke. I fear the disruption of life as we know it.

Tonight one of my daughters says “but there’s less deaths now, it’s going away”. My reply was “ yes in China, but we are only where China was in November, it’s only just got to us. We haven’t got to their January and February yet , it’s coming”. Then I told my other daughter to not waste money, to keep in mind you could be out of work for whatever reason. Her reply was “ lol”. None of them watch the news. It’s a big joke to them. It’s on our news every day to be aware you might be out of work, you might be isolated, prepare. We have 9 cases here local (from Iran travellers).

If I tell them there were more deaths they just say “but they were old”. It’s how most are reacting.

I’m not sure how much hype is being added in , or if I’m getting paranoid. For the time being I need to be vigilant, take it seriously, educate myself etc.

Best of luck to you as well.

Good answer.

Less deaths? I wouldn't believe any stat given all the times they've been caught manipulating data, definitions and public perceptions.

There’s two schools of thought on wearing masks . One is only the sick should use them so they don’t infect others that wearing them is not going to keep the virus out. Then the other is it at least can help reduce the risk.

Health care workers are more prone to catching it so the masks are to prevent the spread in case they contracted the virus?

I did a thread on masks, but then I added in the other thoughts that contradicts the OP

Almost makes a chap wonder if the Surgeon General is as good at self-repair the way Escher drew himself.....

I hear this virus scars the lungs if you don’t have a mask

They wont take it serious until someone they know or love dies. That will be my dad, he’s 90 and has bad lungs. Eventually he will be exposed to it and not fare well. Or when their fun lives of going to concerts are shut down. My daughter is a big Mariah Carey fan, so today I texted her Mariah cancelled a concert due to the virus fears. It had zero effect on her, they just “lol” me!

Youngsters think they are invincible and they are just hearing “old people die”. Or perhaps as summer comes it will stabilize? I don’t know, but I think the next few weeks we will see it explode in N America or the UK

The issue isn't who is more prone to catching the infection. It's whether or not masks protect anyone or everyone.

I read that too, it damages the lungs and other organs. I posted an article on that somewhere on here

I believe it. I don't envy your position of having to deal with kids while this is going on. I think it would make it harder.....more to worry about and less you can control. Such is life, though, I guess?

I really hope it bypasses your dad.
