Huh, what, sorry I'm not following....

If you are coming up with a plan to deal with living under quarantine (more than a week's supply of food), have access to sanitizer when washing hands aren't an option, basic medicines and electrolyte replenishments if you contract the virus, then I wouldn't say anyone would be overreacting..

I would say you are acting out of informed intelligence.

I was laughing at the fact you reinforced my opinion, and I'd asked for someone to convince me (jokingly) that I was wrong lol. I was trying to laugh about it, that's all

Thank you, sir! I just realized a shortcoming I need to personally address tomorrow at the store. I very rarely drink any sweetened drinks, including Gatoraide, so I totally forgot about this potentially important addition.

Hello, in NSW here. I have had same symptoms (so has wife) for over two weeks now. We also have crazy fatigue, things feel way heavier than they are, get winded doing easiest of things like hanging clothes on line or taking bins out. We both have been off work and saw the Doctor separately. They won't test you for covid19 unless you have returned from overseas or been in contact with someone known to have it. The Doctor told my wife same symptoms but not ability to test without meeting criteria as of now.

I'm no doctor, but I will ask you this: ever feel this from the flu or cold?
I have the exact same symptoms as you and your wife. The fatigue feeling is nuts - you feel winded/exhausted and you haven't done anything.

Since you can't get a test (imagine that - I know what you're dealing with as I'm in the "no test US") to confirm it look to your symptoms...it's viral pneumonia aka covid-19.

Hang in there I'm into the second week now and starting to feel better with the heavy chest feeling.
Less fatigued as well.

We are prepared and going well. Just as a suggestion, if you have same thing whether its coronavirus or just some other virus going around it comes in waves. You can start feeling better last hours then it hits again. It started getting a bit better in duration that I actually started feeling good enough after about 10-11 days to mow the lawn, and then it hit hard again. Next two days crazy fatigue, light headed and dopey feeling, now back to the waves of crap feeling.

Saw this and had to comment. Same here - you feel better then slide back a bit, gets worse at night. Sleeping helps a lot (if you have the time), it's been one of the few things that's made me feel better.

But what I have now has come in waves... Feel sick for two days, then feel fine for three, comes back for another two et c.

Definitely haven't had this before, what ever it is.

I agree.

Gatorade is actually pretty low in electrolytes. I would recommend a powdered magnesium supplement such as Natural Vitality CALM. I actually mix mine with a little salt and a pinch of cream of tartar (potassium salt) to create a complete electrolyte supplement (great for hangovers) its also helpful
for regular sleep..

One of the most useful things that could be done at this point is to assemble everything we know about the virus into one post, with a best case/worst case thing based upon information found.

For example, I'm currently confused by incubation length. It was stated to be up to 28 days in this thread at one point, but I'm pretty sure the UK government is telling everyone here it is only 5 days. Which is correct?
Is it all just guess work? Does anyone actually know and can quote sources for the info?

I see people in local paper comment sections who have no idea what the facts are, and don't know where to find them.
It'd be useful to be able to copy/paste info in appropriate places. People fear the unknown and fill in the gap based upon the reaction.

The problem we face at ATS is that we have been given more extreme information and warnings that actually makes more sense of the extreme reactions globally (quarantine etc), but everywhere else there is a disconnect. Any thoughts on this?

I guess Karma is alive and well... How many times have you heard someone say "it is God's will" ?

Islamic Scholar Who Said Coronavirus Was "Allah's Punishment" Gets Coronavirus

Back in February, Hadi Al-Modarresi, who is based in Iran, said that the coronavirus outbreak was “undoubtedly an act of Allah that is divine punishment against the Chinese for their treatment, mockery, and disrespect towards Muslims and Islam,” reported MEMRI-TV.

“It is obvious that the spread of this virus is an act of Allah. How do we know this? The spread of the coronavirus began in China, an ancient and vast country, the population of which makes up one seventh of humanity,” said Al-Modarresi.

I am guessing we are probably dealing with different strains with differing levels of lethality, incubation periods and rates of infection. That is why so much data seems to contradict..

My Question , What PRICE Will Communist China Eventually Pay for this Crime Against Humanity ? PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW !

I don't often say this, always having preferred conventional forms of weapons and warfare, but if it was learned that China intentionally created and unleashed this pestilence on the world, then Beijing should glow for it and every person in any position of responsibility above dog catch throughout China should swing for it.

I would buy the rope for this project.

Norway now has 629 cases as of this morning. It has really skyrocketed the last 2 days... Today it will be a lot higher I guess.

Federally funded tests conducted by scientists from several major institutions indicated that the novel form of coronavirus behind a worldwide outbreak can survive in the air for several hours.

A study awaiting peer review from scientists at Princeton University, the University of California-Los Angeles and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) posted online Wednesday indicated that the COVID-19 virus could remain viable in the air "up to 3 hours post aerosolization," while remaining alive on plastic and other surfaces for up to three days.

"Our results indicate that aerosol and fomite transmission of HCoV-19 is plausible, as the virus can remain viable in aerosols for 42 multiple hours and on surfaces up to days," reads the study's abstract.

The test results suggest that humans could be infected by the disease simply carried through the air or on a solid surface, even if direct contact with an infected person does not occur. That finding, if accepted, would come in stark contrast to previous media reports that suggested the virus was not easily transmittable outside of direct human contact.

Hmmm... so basically, most mild advice isn't really helpful either (ie hand washing). It helps, sure, but merely lowers risk by a percentage. Still, a rough guide with either extreme would still be useful to explain why isolation is a valid exercise for the masses.

Another example is the reinfection aspect. It was also reported that second infection would be worse than the first. Non of that information is being presented in the mainstream UK. In fact, an article that popped up 5 minutes ago that has now vanished had the UK MP Nadine Dorris saying she was feeling better already, and it wasn't too bad. That sends a false message if reinfection is a possibility.

It is very hard to define the reality around it all. No wonder people are going bonkers.

I do believe that fearing the worst is probably wisest, while hoping for the best.

Not only that but a barrage of lies and half truths to obscure the reports.

Actually hand washing is more effective than one would think:

Hand-washing -- with soap and water -- is a far more powerful weapon against germs than many of us realize.

Scott says it works on two fronts: “The first thing that’s happening is that you’re physically removing things from your hands. At the same time, for certain agents, the soap will actually be busting open that agent, breaking it apart.”

Coronaviruses, like this year’s version that has left 100,000 worldwide infected with COVID-19, are encased in a lipid envelope -- basically, a layer of fat. Soap can break that fat apart and make the virus unable to infect you.

The second thing soap does is mechanical. It makes skin slippery so that with enough rubbing, we can pry germs off and rinse them away.

How? Well, first turn on the water. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold.

“We’ve done research on water temperature, and what we’ve discovered is that water temperature doesn’t really matter in terms of effectiveness,” says Donald Schaffner, PhD, who studies predictive food microbiology, hand-washing, and cross-contamination at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.[/qoute]

Honestly, the light headedness, fatigue, and dopey feeling I believe could be anxiety rather than Coronavirus. Lotta stressors converging these days, ya?

You know I'd be apt to believe that somewhat too, but this Rhino sitting on my chest says otherwise.

If you get it, you'll know what we mean - this crap makes you feel weird, and to put it honestly, it sucks.

Trust me - I have nothing to gain by bullsh*tting about this.

I'd rather have the flu...
