It's very telling you haven't been here long and I think it's a fair guess you're also not really a lurker who has actually read the abundance of quality material here. Anyway, as I mention USA was to be 3 days away from what Japan's actions have taken place. Well, now USA in my opinion is now even with Japanese way of thinking about "people first", the "economy" second. Am I right about this ATS members, because if the politicians still care about the economy, then ultimately the people will turn against them, even ... which I can't blame them.

There was that Republican, forgot his name but started with G , saw a picture of him on here posted eating tacos and he was supposed to be quarantine. After seeing that, my conclusion is "dog it dog" attitude. He's out spreading the virus and we are suppose to obey him. sic, just sic

Like I mention, you have more to worry about the mentally ill roaming the streets in about 3 days then you do with other personal problems. Why do I say 3 days? It's just the way "panic" sets in. Shelters closing due to the staff are ill. No food then being served.

Here we have set up programs to already feed those that are homebound. America better haul off the mentally homeless really fast and put them in seclusion. They'll have no other choice or drown in their own # on the streets.
Having been in Asia (4 countries) I've seen the standard of living and what it means to "dog eat dog" world we actually live in at times.

Watch for your family first, that is all what matters now. Hopefully you have good neighbors with common sense also.

Mosquitos and ticks carry bloodborne pathogens. The covid respiratory virus would have to be able to replicate inside a mosquitos. Would be highly unlikely however during the swine flu outbreak there was 2-4 mosquito acquired infections

I was thinking the same thing, implausible but under the right conditions, transmissible from insect bites..

You are more likely to accidentally get it from petting your dog or cat..

Let's be straight, we have not seen the worst yet by far. It's kind of getting obvious at this point isn't it?
It isn't you lot I worry about, but there are a crazy amount of people out there totally unprepared and getting angry, who are over-reliant on governments and infrastructure that they take for granted. Anyone who has worked in a call centre and dealt with enraged individuals who have lost electric for a few hours, or internet will know what I mean.

I mean, we've literally got a culture in the west that has become entitled and disrespectful to an extreme in some quarters.
If that bottle pops, in a city... It is not a nice prospect. People are unpredictable. There are literally some people fighting over toilet paper. My mother-in-law here in the UK has witnessed it. It'd be funny if it wasn't so insane. Human decency... it might have been more ingrained 100 years ago, but now?

On top of that, paranoia about other people making them ill! You all better hope and pray that people calm down.
It'd maybe help if folks in here took a few deep (and non virus filled) breaths and tried to find a middle ground of basic humanity and lead the way. If you lot can't keep your shiz together, then think about what I just said above. If anything, maybe governments have bought some time for those that have the sense to prepare and that is the best news.

The worst is yet to come, when it becomes clear this virus is a global disaster those that have been ridiculing and playing this event down will freak out, they will have no supplies and will do anything to survive.

Didn't I ask to be told I'm over-reacting? I'm pretty sure you didn't do that. In fact, I think you possibly did the exact opposite of that.
But I'm not a scientist, so I won't pass judgement at this point.

Sorry for going off topic also. But I do feel that as someone else pointed out, the information about this is so thick and fast at this point it is coming down to having to generalise. It is frustrating, but also understandable. I'm still actively trying to keep a sense of levity, despite my previous post.
