In keeping with the CT theme, maybe it was a body double.

How is one of the best nations in numerous indexes the best model?

That's like saying Einstein or Usain bolt are the best model humans. They are at the top of the charts. Theres probably 190 countries in a much worse position than South Korea, so you can't say oh it will all be okay as South Korea is managing to keep deaths low. Sk's exponentially growing infections have just began, give it another week and their system will be struggling and the deaths will catch up.

No the point is they are testing so many more, even asymptomatic cases. So they are getting much more data, not just from those who rock up to hospital feeling rough, but all sorts of contacts, even though they had no idea and no symptoms. They are using all sorts of tracking technology to locate, and all sorts of techniques to roll out testing, including 'drive through' testing.

How good their health system is, is another variable, but the point is they are finding cases that are not even being looked for elsewhere, so it is promising that it is much more widespread, and so therefore actually far less severe.

If you go outside, wear a scarf, bandana or mask, dont listen to CDC, they know what they are talking about, just do the opposite. About the test kits being defected, I dont believe that one bit. Have any of you seen the little kit they use. Just saw it on TV a few minutes ago. They look pretty cool. So maybe kits are made different, but English language was used on it, so get that people.
If I can find a link with the kit, Ill post it.

GET THE KEGS: University of Washington Cancels Classes Until Further Notice....Coronavirus Parties INCOMING!

Brad & Chad and all the other frat f***bois who chain smoke juuls and compete to see who can chug Mike's Hard Lemonade bottles the fastest are going to be throwing BANGERS at their Coronavirus-themed ragers now that University of Washington has canceled classes for 2 weeks.

I'm sure this will end well in every way imaginable!

If their drinks are at least 60% alcohol, won't that help?

This is for Brits here.

"May I ask all my friends, whether you are employed or self employed to please sign this petition I have started and share it to your page.
4.8 million people are registered self-employed in the UK. Figures are of 2017 according to the Office of National Statistics. It would be easy enough to work out what each person is entitled to based on their tax returns.
Include self-employed in statutory sick pay.

The self-employed make up 15% of UK's workforce. Majority are not entitled to any sick pay. I want the Government to include us in the recent changes to statutory sick pay because of the Corona19 virus. Excluding us means the Government are running the risk of said people continuing going to work as just like everyone else we have bills to pay and thus spreading the virus."
Petition Parliament

Thank you. Signed

Yeah i know - and it took SO LONG TO DO
But apparently it violates the Terms of the site - a thread about a member and also an offshoot of this one.
But it was just simply his posts laid out (neatly ha)
I have asked how I can present his posts without violating terms on here. I wanted to keep them on ATS as easier to read and flow and easily found.
But will prob just post on an external site with a link if allowed by ATS

US 234 cases and 14 deaths - that's a 5.9% CFR. We're really trying to win this thing!

I realize the numbers are skewed due to the assisted living place getting hit. It's early in the numbers game but it's not looking good after watching the presser with the families at the life care center

Well with the number of elderly retired people, and perhaps elderly "snowbirds" coming down to roost from the northern states of frost and snow, I expect Florida will eventually win the country's CFR lottery by a landslide. Might take a little bit for the contagion engine to crank up, though. And I'm sure with the dearth of testing, that sure isn't helping to get a true picture of reality. Honestly, I'm not really sure I even want to take a glimpse of reality right now.

IMHO.

If I lived or worked in or around a retirement home/community in Florida I would be extremely concerned.

It's one thing if the Corona Virus comes to your neighborhood and you get it, it's another if you are traveling and bring the Corona Virus back home.

A tour group from Greece went and toured Israel, West Bank and Egypt. The tour bus driver in Israel had Corona, but didn't know it. When the group got back to Greece, 21 of them had the Corona Virus.

I know 40 people going in 2 weeks to Israel to tour it, along with Egypt, etc, if just one of them gets it but doesn't show symptoms until after they get back, then they bring it back to our neighborhood and the people we hang out with and we don't yet have any people in the state with the virus, that is known.

With all of the things that people have been mentioning about their areas running short of, I have yet to hear anyone mention "Darwin Awards". Seems like we are going to be needing a TON of them in the near future.

Wish we were more like the French, take to the streets. But maybe we would need a successful revolution for that to be a a meaningful threat (maybe we will have one
), and crowds now might not be such a good idea.

Here it comes!!!

I had much earlier posted my concerns about the control that China has over our pharmaceutical industry. They have 90% control and that includes antibiotics. India makes our generics and they receive the raw material to make them from China so that is in peril as well.

"Be Bold:
The World Owes China a Thank you.
It is in Chinese but one important highlight..."If China imposes restrictions on pharmaceutical exports the U.S. will be "plunged into the mighty sea of coronavirus."

Why would we have ever had one country be in such complete control of the production of our medication?
This does sound like a veiled threat doesn't it?
Since most of the medication is produced in Wuhan they aren't able to manufacture anyway but the saber rattling...?
So we have 2 to 3 months of supply. Then what?

We never should have allowed this to happen. This country is an enemy. Why would we allow something so important be under their control.

xinhauanet.com/2020-03-04/c_1...
I wish I could figure out how to link this but it is there in Chinese.

Short answer? Greed.

How much greed? All our medicine is made in China, yet the USA overpays ridiculously for said drugs, that are made with dirt cheap Chinese labor.

Done!
We have one interesting week coming up here in Cheltenham next week. Will be interesting to see if we see a spike in local cases over the following week....or maybe not as all the copious amounts of alcohol consumed will kill it off!
250,000 people/punters/escorts etc expected to descend on a town of 115,000 population. Jockey Club and Cheltenham Council might rue the day they decided £100 million was worth it!
