Are you really qualified to be giving medical advice on the internet? Never tell someone to stop taking their meds if you aren't.

It's an over the counter (non-prescription) med, and yes, I know very well that most people with acid reflux have low stomach acid, not high.

Linky

But you don't know their history or conditions. I've seen you give some really bad advice on these threads, from huffing ozone to some other quackery. Probably just a good idea to refrain from giving medical advice in general.

You have a messaage

Yup. Hence my poem you might’ve not crossed if you just waded into the 4th thread. My caustically sardonic nature, coupled with my sarcastic wit is the last thing an update thread or you, or anyone here wants/needs.
Much and Many Propers to Agit and sf123456, for bringing us back
For making a congruent clearinghouse for ideas, announcements, implications, musings, and “factual” data a place to coalesce. A sincere Thank You. To them. To all reading this thread, and everyone everywhere dealing...
—->Nods at Mods.

Many of us, yours truly included, have lurked in the shadows of the “Molotov politics” the last 4-8 years on this truly wonderful awe-inspiring, crazy AF, harbor for “lost yet inquisitive” souls, and just generally beautiful site for propagating acceptance and sharing of info (not to be confused with disinfo) and “denying ignorance”.
all around, YOU are and continue to be

“The Best the Interwebs offers” THANK YOU

The coronavirus has gone viral....

Just trying to lighten the mood.

It's out in the wild now. China tried to cover it up before a doctor blew the whistle and the outbreak was ongoing for a month before he was able to get the word out.

I don't know what more CDC and the WHO can do at this point.

Its NOT true about masks
But it is better than nothing, absolutely,
but easily overused

If your not used to wearing one, your hands fiddle with your mask a lot
The straps become uncomfortable, too tight, maybe there is a tickle,it moves a bit now its obstructing your view
i notice no change,if not more hands to face with a mask on
i use half-face piece and particulate masks ALL the time, but only for short durations..
Using a particulate mask for 6 hours working, they are noticeably wet,the fibres saturate, thin and separate
now it's harder the breathe and wicking whatever is on the outside of the mask into your mouth
been there.
What they should be doing(IF they were seriously pro-active) is teaching children at school how to wear these things
for and during A class, each day
Hopefully to take away the stigma from wearing them occasionally, especially in close quarters
Maybe get mom and dad on board
This is the thing i'm noticing, who's going to be the first person wearing one in public,
nobody wants to be THAT first guy/gal
for fear of being labeled a fear monger
Seriously,to most, people's reputation is more important than there own safety and their families.

Indeed, I remember those whistleblowers arrested before new years, so fair to say this virus appeared December or possibly even October-november. We're all in for the ride now like it or not.

Things like what the worker is doing in this photo and the massive fumigating china was doing makes me think this thing is much more efficient at fomite transmission and that it has a longer surface viability time frame than we have been led to believe.

If there are more one type of corona virus I'm assuming that greatly complicates making a vaccine, and if this is mutating every mutation will require a new vaccine.

So this isn't going away anytime soon....

The article I read earlier today on the guy in Brazil who showed a third generation mutation from the initial Wuhan outbreak, the pathologist interviewed for the article said it's being misunderstood by laymen. These "mutations" are minimal and are at the low RNA/DNA levels, like a single indicator shows in a slightly different position. He claimed it likely won't impact the potential for a vaccine in any way.

ETA: The article! www.scidev.net...

Despite the mutations, a vaccine would likely be effective for multiple strains of COVID-19, Heymann says.

When developing a vaccine, “we look for the parts of the virus that are most sustained,” Heymann explained.

How I took that in my layman's brain was to say there are many ways to break into a house, which is essentially what a vaccine is trying to do, break into a virus' house. If the virus changes the door lock code every other day, then there's no rationale to trying to hack that code. Instead you notice that the virus hasn't ever put bars over the back window so you take a crowbar to that glass and voila...

Did someone post about California declaring a state of emergency? I THINK it just happened but maybe it was hours ago. I keep saying that if state after state keeps doing this the Prez is going to have to declare something for the whole US.
They’re using Placer Co. to throw the fact that (even MSM reporting) the elderly individual that passed away, RIP was on a 10-day cruise 3 weeks ago from SF to Mexico. Stopped in my county at the “American Riviera”.

Side note: LAX screener just tested positive. LAX might be most heavily traveled airport outside NY? Maybe Most?

I’m sure we are fine.....

I saw that about the LAX screener and the cruise person. What happens when 2 or 3 more states declare a state of emergency? There's 3 already. State after state after state? Once testing gets rolling we'll all be in the same boat.
Well. Yesterday that awesomely informative and totally comprehensive CDC website had us at 60 cases and 12/50 states reporting. Couple that with the info tests here won’t be readily distributed until NEXT WEEK, I suspect we are on our own. Hug your loved ones, I’m sure the Nat’l Quarantine, FEMA camps, then Martial Law, are approaching.... I really like Fur Eels hope this ain’t the case.

Yep. Because CA can’t even make a balance sheet or financial statement. They are being sued for it.

My mother, a retired state govt accountant figures they are underwater to the tune of about 50 billion, per year.

They can’t afford to fight he virus, it could bankrupt the state.

So, uh, I’m wrong about the CDC site circa yesterday?

I must’ve not included that under *6/*60 CFR.
Which suggests .10%.... That’ve been too much??

Don’t cough on the messenger bro. Plenty others on here are cashier and savvier than I by degrees, and way more sage were also skeptical of the CDC site.

The WHO carries a lot of blame IMO for focusing on making politically correct virus nomenclatures rather than support global health initiatives. That Tedras guy should be locked up if you asked me #notsorry

It would seem you and others are correct. There are two strains.

There are actually two coronaviruses — which will make developing a vaccine harder: report

While researchers are already hard at work on developing a coronavirus vaccine, experts say it is unlikely to be ready for at least a year.

One of the reasons for that might be that it turns out, technically, there are two strains of coronavirus — and people can be infected with either, or even both simultaneously.

That’s according to a new study reported by The Telegraph.

“Researchers at Peking University’s School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, discovered the virus has evolved into two major lineages — dubbed ‘L’ and ‘S’ types,” stated the report. “The older ‘S-type’ appears to be milder and less infectious, while the ‘L-type’ which emerged later, spreads quickly and currently accounts for around 70 per cent [sic] of cases.”

Have we addressed what happens when the virus
further mutates in Brazil and SA countries’ bat colonies? That might be a thing?

In other words, can we vaccine against all coronavirii at once? Because I’m pretty sure the rhinovirus’, pneumonia and flu viruses we gets shots for mutate seasonally, no?

If this thing mutates so damn quickly (I was under the impression it didn’t, which is supposed to odd for viruses, OR “not fortuitous”*) how can we vaccinate for it AND all mutations? A little professional limelight on this?
