Based on the S Korea numbers infected in 1 week and their population the numbers coming out of China after 12 weeks should be at a minimum something like this, assuming the 12th week was like the 1st. But I would expect their to be some exponential growth week after week which could point to the real infected numbers being in the millions.

Population 1.4m Infected Infected
"Population Multiple Compared
with S Korea" After 1 week After 12 weeks
26.42 33309 333094
Dead Dead
666 7994

I would suggest my numbers are the minimum and the true figures are as I think was referred to before, 10-25x greater,

i have quoted below a post i made earlier in the thread describing the exact nature of the biological mechanism involved in this.

basically, after the body has successfully produced it's antibodies, the virus can come back in and attack the immune system directly by using the antibodies to mediate entry into the immunoglobulin cells.... thus disabling the body's immunity to the virus and allowing the viral infection to penetrate more deeply the second time around.

The spike (S) glycoprotein of coronaviruses contains protrusions that will only bind to certain receptors on the host cell. Known receptors bind S1 are ACE2, ...

...The spike is essential for both host specificity and viral infectivity.

....The spike (S) glycoprotein of coronaviruses is known to be essential in the binding of the virus to the host cell at the advent of the infection process. It's been reported that 2019-nCoV can infect the human respiratory epithelial cells through interaction with the human ACE2 receptor.

....The S protein plays key parts in the induction of neutralizing-antibody and T-cell responses, as well as protective immunity. The main functions for the Spike protein are summarized as: Mediate receptor binding and membrane fusion;

.... Main component to bind with the neutralizing antibody; Key target for vaccine design; Can be transmitted between different hosts through gene recombination or mutation of the receptor binding domain (RBD), leading to a higher mortality rate.

So what happens on the third strike? Things get even worse, or no change from the second strike?

Forgot to mention that the president message will be positive not only to calm markets but also to "buy more time" for the government to get ready. They are delaying panic as much as possible for strategic reasons because containment is not feasible, so preparation for surge of cases is their next priority.

Ever watch Dead Rising watchtower? My husband asked me to watch with him.

There is a drug called Zombrex, you have to take your injection(from big pharma) at the same time everyday....but you won't become a zombie

I would want to know if I had this virus even if I mistook it for a bad flu.We don't know long term complications yet.

Didn't even know they had adapted the Dead Rising games into a movie.

100 of the 730 tourists in Tenerife may be able to leave if they test negative.

What do you want him to say?

The way I see it, no matter what he says, he'll lose on this one. If he says we should all prepare for epidemic, people will panic, and he'll get blasted for feeding panic. If he tells people not to panic and things go bad, he'll be blasted because he didn't do enough and didn't take it seriously.

Let's face it - with certain elements in this country, no matter what he does, it's the wrong thing. He could die tomorrow, and they'd blame him for it and say it was a bad thing.

Prepper think: put a sign on your door that says "Warning: NCOV19 Home-Quarantine. Please leave packages on doorstep."

That might give people with bad intentions a pause.

Man, I'm going to try to do that even on our windows. Thanks.

Uk here. Reading the dailymail.co.uk comments a lot of people are burying their heads in the sand...flu statistics are worse etc..since when was the school down the road from my missus shut due to a virus (Tudor Grange)?? She went to supermarket and stocked up on essentials. People are waking up...flour and dried milk nearly empty....

Doubtful.

There will always be armchair quarterbacks who think this or that should have been done differently. There will also always be those who think the real truth was never told, even if it was.

Aaand another case in the Canary Islands, a woman from La Gomera who had been in Italy between the 4th and 8th of February.

Just how many cases are there in Italy?!
twitter.com...

So.... 22 days later she is stricken with the illness.
I am beginning to think that the 3 day incubation period might be the outlier.
Scary stuff with an incubation period of 3 weeks and a person spreading it the whole time.

Either that or she came into contact with it somewhere else. That's also possible. It's getting to the point where just saying, "Have you been to X?" isn't going to cut it. They need to face that reality.

Very interesting article from sky news about uk employee's rights or obligations during a virus outbreak news.sky.com... if you read nearer to the end you will see that in a lot of cases you will only get statutory sick pay of £94 a week for 28 days if you have gone to the doctor and being diagnosed with Corona . But it seems if you turn up at work and your employers won't allow you to work and send you home they have to pay you. Ummm I wonder what most people will do in this case ?

Unfortunately for trump this is a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. The dismantling of previous pandemic policies will certainly bite him in the ass.

I'll bet you're right on the Trump conf @6pm. I came across this snippet...

"I’m told the president’s anger about the CDC briefing yesterday is focused on Dr. Nancy Messonnier, who said it’s not whether, it’s when the virus will hit the US. “She never should have said that,” a senior administration official told me. “it’s bad.”
twitter.com...

Some may not know but Dr. Messonnier is the sister to former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Sorry if already posted but this looks highly suspicious.
$425M in World Bank catastrophe bonds set to default if coronavirus declared a pandemic by June.

In 2017, the World Bank designed a new way to raise money: Pandemic Emergency Financing bonds. Over $425 million worth of such bonds, which bet against a global outbreak of infectious diseases and will default if WHO declares the coronavirus a pandemic, were sold by the World Bank in its first-ever issuance of catastrophe bonds. In the event of no pandemic, investors would be paid a healthy annualized return. Meanwhile, the World Bank could use the bonds to insure itself against the risk of a global outbreak.

Wash Examiner

$425 Million is chicken scratch to the World Bank. I personally don't believe that meet a threshold they'd be willing to play games over, but I could be wrong.

Action is the only action to take right now in his eyes, he has to 'take control'- its what he does best. He cant have cdc out talking him, out smarting him.

It's going to be a little hard. He's a businessman, not a doctor or medical expert. What he needs are people he can trust and to get control of the CDC, not to crush the opposition so much as to get them on the same page. This is much more important than duking it out with bureaucrats who want to argue over a different direction in foreign policy approach.

This is critical at the moment and power games need to be set aside. If people like Messonier are serious about being concerned, they'll see that and set aside the partisan games. But I'm afraid the example of the WHO hasn't been encouraging.
