i have quoted below a post i made earlier in the thread describing the exact nature of the biological mechanism involved in this.

basically, after the body has successfully produced it's antibodies, the virus can come back in and attack the immune system directly by using the antibodies to mediate entry into the immunoglobulin cells.... thus disabling the body's immunity to the virus and allowing the viral infection to penetrate more deeply the second time around.

The spike (S) glycoprotein of coronaviruses contains protrusions that will only bind to certain receptors on the host cell. Known receptors bind S1 are ACE2, ...

...The spike is essential for both host specificity and viral infectivity.

....The spike (S) glycoprotein of coronaviruses is known to be essential in the binding of the virus to the host cell at the advent of the infection process. It's been reported that 2019-nCoV can infect the human respiratory epithelial cells through interaction with the human ACE2 receptor.

....The S protein plays key parts in the induction of neutralizing-antibody and T-cell responses, as well as protective immunity. The main functions for the Spike protein are summarized as: Mediate receptor binding and membrane fusion;

.... Main component to bind with the neutralizing antibody; Key target for vaccine design; Can be transmitted between different hosts through gene recombination or mutation of the receptor binding domain (RBD), leading to a higher mortality rate.

Sorry, but just had another thought. Doesn't this make vaccines for this coronavirus dangerous? Not so much them by themselves, but wouldn't the exposure to the actual pathogen maybe act like a second exposure?

BBC News at 10...Germany on verge of declaring epidemic....chain of infection no longer traceable.

Interesting. What gives the UK the right or the knowledge to announce something like that about another country? It's as if they are desperate for all other countries to come clean on how it is out of control before they do, or make them appear as if it's out of control. Last man standing in the markets.

Is this normal in the states to have a countdown to a president's address?
Seems serious as we don't do that here unless it's quite an announcement in the UK

a reply to: rom12345

It depends on what it's about. I think they had a countdown to SOTU, for example. If they have a countdown to this, then it's expected to be significant.

I dunno. Don’t watch tv. If I had some whiskey, I’d turn his lol moments into a drinking game. He seems to think it’s all make-believe anyway...

My $ is on him trying to get ahead of the debates last night and do damage control for his beloved markets/investors.

Shame really. This virus is “serious business”

It isn't political but it could end globalization.

History repeats itself they say.
Maybe the pre/post virus world will be countries pushed by their people to bring work back home, wherever that is.

Then around 2050 you get another little economic Paradise or whatever they toted the 1950s as.

The 1950s was the US being the only heavily developed manufacturing base that hadn't been all blown to bits by the war.

Italy has reached the 400's. Meanwhile, Japan is lagging at 178 even though it had confirmed cases a lot earlier. What might be the factor here? Obviously response time is critical, but still, there must be something else, right?

Yeah...its called the olympics...

and in france is called "fashion week"
While italy was searching for all positive asymptomatic individuals that had remotely crossed paths with patient 1 over the last weekend, french health minister was telling the press there wasn't a single ill person anymore in france, just to point out the contrast , of course.

It turns out they were happily not testing cases like the following:

2 people in hospitals both in the region of l'oise. Both not connected in any way to risk areas or italy or to each other. Both seriously ill (one died ) one a teacher and one a military person. At 20 km distance
As of today they still haven't tested any of these people neighbours, students, acquaitnances and they had their successful fashion shows instead
No lockdowns, no travel bans. These cases were happening at the same time as the first findings in italy.
it just makes a much better narrative for france to ignore dying french hospital patients and test bus drivers from abroad

The rise in cases in Italy, the main focus of infection in Europe, represents a 25% surge in 24 hours!

I have been reading that thread, thanks. My post to Hope was in reference to the fact this misleading claim is already spreading fast on twitter because no one does their homework.

It's sad how easily the public is fooled.

Not sure if it's been posted yet, but Trump's nationwide address is at 6:30pm ET tonight, not 6pm. The WH updated the schedule today sometime.

Ding Ding … we have a winner. Yes, you can't vaccinate against a virus with this kind of latency, or else the vaccine itself becomes part of the risk.

So … this potential issue needs to be proven or disproven CONCLUSIVELY before they issue / ordain any kind of vaccine for the general population, IMHO.

They showed a video of the German health minister saying so. He said that in Germany now they can’t trace the contacts. A couple had been travelling about the country ten days, and have now tested positive for the virus. He also said that Germany should expect an epidemic.

Is Wall Street Behind the Delay in Declaring the Corona Virus a "Pandemic"?

A little known specialized bond created in 2017 by the World Bank may hold the answer as to why U.S. and global health authorities have declined to label the global spread of the novel coronavirus a “pandemic.” Those bonds, now often referred to as “pandemic bonds,” were ostensibly intended to transfer the risk of potential pandemics in low-income nations to financial markets.

It is possible that concerns over using the word “pandemic” could upset global markets and lead to economic turmoil, similar to what happened to the U.S. stock market following the CDC announcement on Tuesday. Though such concerns are valid, there is also evidence that a particular class of bonds issued by the World Bank that are closely related to official declarations of pandemics may also be responsible for having steered WHO and CDC officials away from using this term, even though the consequences of doing so could negatively impact global public health.

Here is an article we had in Canada a few days ago about pandemic bonds.

Why so picky? The german minister of health said today publicly that "Germany is at the beginnig of an epidemy". In this regard, BBC is just reporting the factual news - as they are supposed to do.
In the past 3 days, there were 10 new confirmed cases in Germany.

83 ppl in Ny now being monitored

I’m sure glad I got my supplies squared away weeks ago. Again, not for fear of “dying” but that there will be a run on supplies or a supply chain mishap

Yeah but you can see my point though. Sky news was funny last night. After the CDC revelations, the presenters were all over it saying, "well it's about time they admitted in the US how serious this is, as we've been saying all along"... No they have not! And they were back to playing it down again today. At home at least...
