Hundreds of people have been filmed queuing up to buy face masks in the city at the centre of South Korea's coronavirus outbreak. A long line of people snaked out the doors of a supermarket in the city of Daegu on Monday as people tried to protect themselves against the spread of the disease amid fears of a global pandemic. South Korea now has the largest number of confirmed cases outside of mainland China after infections spiked at the weekend, standing at 830 by Monday morning.
Eight people have also died from the disease in the Asian country. The astonishing scenes outside the supermarket were captured by South Korean newspaper Maeil Shinmun. More than 140 of South Korea's new cases were in and near Daegu, the city of 2.5 million people where most of the country's infections have occurred.

Thank you so much for posting those photos. What are those boxes in the shopping carts?
I'm certain I've seen that exact photo of shopping trollies, but last week. 99% certain. I've seen a lot of stuff last week, I think my brain buffer may be full
That's good for us actually, we're a net buyer of stocks over time," the billionaire investor and Berkshire CEO said. "Just like being a net buyer of food — I expect to buy food the rest of my life and I hope that food goes down in price tomorrow."
"Who wouldn't rather buy at a lower price than a higher price?" Buffett continued. "People are really strange on that. They should want the stock market to go down, they should want to buy at a lower price."
Is the killer coronavirus now disease X? World Health Organization expert warns the infection is 'rapidly' fitting category for the mysterious pathogen scientists fear will kill 80million
A virus expert from the World Health Organization said the coronavirus could be the 'Disease X' which experts have warned about. The name is given to a future disease which could break out among humans and wreak havoc across the world. The coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, has infected around 80,000 people in the two months since it emerged at an animal market in Wuhan, China in December. It has killed more than 2,600 and is capable of causing severe lung damage and triggering multiple organ failure, mainly among old or sickly patients. Dr Marion Koopmans, a virologist for the WHO, said: 'Whether it will be contained or not, this outbreak is rapidly becoming the first true pandemic challenge that fits the disease X category, listed to the WHO's priority list of diseases for which we need to prepare in our current globalized society.' Her comments come less than six months after a report led by a former WHO official which warned a flu-like illness could kill up to 80million people if it broke out. Recent developments in the outbreak include the first cases being declared in Afghanistan, Bahrain and Kuwait today, and a fifth person dying in Italy.
Do you have a link for that scenario. Not that I really want to look

This virus has taken a hold in the Middle-East. Overnight developments indicate cases in Bahrain, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Bahrain is in close proximity to Saudi Arabia. From there it's only one border from reaching Africa.
I my humble opinion, if this hits Africa it's game over. Global pandemic with massive infection rates. Perhaps I'll move to Madagascar.

With something like this, I feel like there wasn't much they could do to stop it from getting out. The best chance was very early on, and once they started shutting down whole cities, it was sort of just a matter of time.
Now the important stuff is how bad it really will be.
I'm not sure China is the whole story. We'll see from South Korea and Japan to get a clearer picture of where we are.

I hate to say this..
The world seems poised to let this run its course.
Action we are seeing taking place is NOT to contain the infection, more to control the numbers so hospitals aren't completely overwhelmed.
The cornonavirus is here to stay.
Y'all stay safe out there.
Why health officials are still not calling coronavirus a pandemic
From CNN's John Bonifield
Health officials have yet to label the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic — but they could be close to calling it one.
"We're on the knife's edge," said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a longtime adviser to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"We're really on the brink," says Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes for Health.
There is no precise, mathematical definition of a pandemic. Outbreaks get characterized as pandemics by epidemiologists — who are not yet using the term.
So why aren't epidemiologists labeling this a pandemic yet? It’s because they've yet to see sustained transmission among people who have not recently traveled to China or had close contact with someone who recently traveled to China.
It's not enough for a cluster of disease in a country to exist and even spread — it has to spread in a sustained way, from person to person, time and time again, through many generations of transmission.
