Harassing? As in come by, and ask to see if you have anything illegal on you? Geez, that's happened to me. I simply let them search me, and we btoh went on our way. five minutes wouldn't kill me, why's it such a huge dramatic event for you?

Oh maybe cuz it happens excessively and it's gotten to the point where I can't even walk down my own block without getting stopped and searched.I doubt you have been searched as many times as me.Wow maybe you got searched a few times I have been searched many times,if I had to estimate I would say around 35 times.I am made to feel like some type of criminal and you wonder why alot of people turn to crime. The cops push them towards that side and people start to think might as well be a criminal if i am always treated one.

The way you live, as in teh choices YOU make as to the manner in which you live your life. You choose to do illegal things, so it's onyl natural that you think the cops are agaisnt you. It's their job to stop crime.

Listen up before I was doing what you are labeling "illegal" I was still getting harassed. So I don't think cops are against me and everyone else,I know they are.

How about this one.

www.cnn.com...

Doctor on his way to deliver a baby going 10 mph over the speed limit. Cop pulls him over, farts about for a while, gives him a ticket, takes him to the hospital in handcuffs and misses the start of the delivery.

Their stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

Speaking from lots of experience with "the law" They may not be crooked, but not a single one I have met was faithful to their significant other.

I had one particular police office follow me into the back room of my place of employment and chase me around. Almost every single cop that came into my store hit on me. More than once. I was physically assaulted by several and no amount of complaints to the local police department did any good.

1. Buy 3 tape recorders.
2. Buy 2 small video cameras.

3. While working set up 1 video camera to cover you. The other one to cover the room area/counter area.

4. Always keep 1 tape recoreder in your pocket or purse. Then hit the record button as soon as a cop steps in.

5. Keep the other tape recorder in the back room. And another tape recorder in the front room where the store entrace is.

5b. Always remember to say outloud the officer's badge number. "Why are you hitting on me, and harrassing me badge number 4557?"

6. Spend 6 months recording all incidences that happen. Then get a good civil lawyer. You will win, since you have a preponderance of evidence.

There are women who have successfully sued because they keep getting pulled over by cops who hit on them, get their address and phone numbers, and name.

Even the good cops are most likey bad. Hear me out. Take for example a " Good cop" He seems like he does the right thing, very polite allways wanting to help. He is trained to uphold the law. That same cop can be seen speeding in a cop car with his lights off. Or youse his lights to get through a intersection. Not stoppng at stop signs completly. Watching other cops breaking the law! Dont tell me that good cop hasnt seen another cop break the law or abuse his power in some major or minor way. To me there is no minor infraction if a cop does it, he\ she bust us for the same things so that should be a major deal if a cop cant follow the same rules as we have to. I have two cops in my family also , Im not being predjedice\ stereotypical P.S. Dont get me starged, actually please do!

ABOUT ATS: General ATS discussion etiquette

General Hints and Tips

Be nice. We're all here to better understand the various obvious and hidden influences on our often stressful world. Some members will have been researching these topics longer than others. Calling such beginning members "n-0-0-b", "n-e-w-b-i-e", or other derogatory names just because they're beginning their journey to enlightenment is generally frowned upon. (I'm so much against this vile practice I've applied a censor for the words, n-0-0-b = n00b)

Don't copy and paste entire pieces of content from other websites. In many cases, if that content comes from a news source, such activity is copyright infringement. In addition, it makes no sense to duplicate something here that exists elsewhere. If you see something that should be discussed here, just past the first one or two paragraphs, then the link. We may deleted these posts without warning, and if you are found to repeatedly engage in this activity, your account could be suspended, or penalized.

This is a written communication medium, so it makes sense to format your posts for easy reading for everyone. Here are some general guidelines:

1) Don't create your entire post as one paragraph, break things up into separate thoughts.

2) Use the bold function sparingly. Use it to highlight important thoughts and not entire posts.

3) Try and spell-check and get your gramma/syntax correct. Very often, your credibility will be judged by how well you present your thoughts as a well-written post.

4) Most of all, do not use ALL CAPS in posts and thread titles.

When responding to posts with the QUOTE button, please edit the quoted portion to the minimum amount needed to reference the post. This is plain forum etiquette as it helps to create a thread flow that is easier to read and follow.

This is from a rules thread created by one of the owners of the site. The MOD that directed you to cease on the caps was appointed by one of these 3 OWNERS, I would listen to the advice if I were you before you get banned again!

Interesting. Perhaps your overall attitude may have something to do with your experiences? Some sort of a problem with authority? Inability to follow even the most benign of rules and demonstrate a sense of decorum?

I know enough police officers to man a small army, and to a person, they're all exceptional. I'm fairly confident if you ever came in contact with any of them bringing any of that crap, you'd be biting the curb fairly quickly.

This is a really great place and I hope, for your sake, you learn how to interact before you're gone before you get started.

TIRED OF EVERYBODY STICKING UP FOR THEM. HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED A COP TO ASSIST YOU. NEVER HAD TO CALL ONE FOR HELP YET. CAN YOU DETECT WHEN SOMEBODY FEELS LIKE THERE BETTER THAN YOU? HAVENT YOU NOTICED THAT ONCE THEY PUT ON THE UNIFORM THERES A WHOLE DIFFERENT WAY THEY WALK, TALK, ACT. WONDER IF THEY TEACH THAT IN THE ACADEMY? ARROGANCE 101. ITS LIKE YOU HAVE TO ACT OR TALK S CERTAIN WAY AROUND THEM OR YOU WILL GO TO JAIL. DONT BACK TALK OR I PUT YOU IN YOUR ROOM. (JAIL CELL). IVE PERSONALY SEEN COPS BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF SOMEONE WHO WASNT FIGHTING BACK, FOR SOMTHING HE SAID. I ONCE HEARD A COP SAY "IF YOU RUN FROM ME THATS WORTH A BATTON " I SAID " EVEN IF HE IS LAYING ON THE GROUND WITH HIS HANDS BEHIND HIS HEAD" AND HE SAID " YEP, I WAS CHASING THIS ONE GUY BECAUSE WE GOT A CALL THAT HE JUST BEAT HIS FAMILY UP, WHEN I GOT TO HIM I GAVE HIM THE STICK. NOW WOUDNT YOU DO THE SAME?" I REPLIED " AS MUCH AS WOULD WANT TO ISNT THAT FOR THE COURTS TO DECIDE IF HE DID THAT OR NOT, ( NOT YOU) AND IF YOU WANTED TO BEAT HIM FOR THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE WAITED TO YOU WERE OUT OF UNIFORM ,SO YOU TAKE THE SAME RISK AS EVERYBODY ELSE WHEN THERE BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF SOMEONE. BUT BECAUSE YOU HAD YOUR UNIFORM ON ITS JUSTIFIED AND YOU WILL GET AWAY WITH IT

yes all cops are crooked !! a freind of mine who WAS a cop (and quit due to him realizing that being a cop made himself to be a hypocrite) and while he was a cop he told me of all the times cops pulled over a drunk driver to find out the driver was a off-duty cop and then gave the hammered cop a ride home- no arrest -just a free ride home to sleep it off
, or of the times a cop would pull someone over for speeding and upon finding out the driver is a cop they let him (or her) go as a act of "professional courtesy"

any cop who accepts "professional courtesy" from another cop is a corrupt cop.....and all cops willing accept "professional courtesy" from other cops!

i never ever trust cops..and never will.

While I can see where the original person who started this thread is coming from, I think he's grossly overstating some of his "facts" about Cops.

The cities I grew up in, there were some very bad Cops. No, I didn't get harrassed by them, but I saw them harrassing other people. It doesn't take 7 Cops cars, with 2 Cops in each car, to stop 1 black man at 2am in morning for playing his stereo too loud, but that's what I saw.

I asked the Cops afterwards, what was wrong, & 1 rookie said they were bored, & a veteran Cop smacked his arm & told him not to tell civilians things like that.

Now, I could use generalized statements & trash all Cops if I so chose to, based on that 1 incident, but I won't.

I could also use the example on another Cop, who was a total jerk (not using worse words, cuz it will get edited by a Mod). This Cop, was on a power trip, for his whole career. His name was Officer Haggeddon, he's dead now. He used to give out bumper stickers with his speeding tickets. They said "I've got the Haggeddon blues" on them.

I also had an experience with him with My brother, when we were riding My bike home. We were riding, with My brother on the handle-bars, because he was wearing rollerskates & we were trying to get home quicker as were supposed to be home by a certain time. Officer Haggeddon stopped us, because we were riding My brother on the handle-bars & were on the wrong side of the road & not on a sidewalk.

I politely told the Officer we had just crossed the road because we were turning at the next road, which was true, but he decided he was going to harrass us & started threatening to give Me & My brother a ticket, to which I replied...Officer, sir, you can go $%*& yourself, if there were sidewalks out here I'd have been riding on it, I need to get home before we get in trouble. We left on the bike, & the Officer stood there a bit stunned that a 12 year old (I'm 32 now) would talk to him like that.

There were also 2 cops that lived down the street from Me, a married couple who were Cops, I won't mention their names, as they're both still Cops. They used to regularly speed down our street doing 45 MPH in a 25 MPH zone.

One day, My step-father decided he'd had enough, & stepped out in front of their civilain & Police cars when they were doing it, & told them either they slowed down, or they weren't going to like him very much. Both of them pretty much blew him off, til the day he did it for like the 4th time, & told them he wasn't going to complain to their bosses, as that wouldn't do anything, except stir up trouble for him & My family. My step-father told them both, that he had 2 kids (Me & brother) that constantly run out in the road, with a dog who did the same, & if they didn't slow down, or take a different route, he was going to "accidently" drop a bunch of roofing nails in front of the cars tires the next time they did it, or find something else like a big 2X4 & "oops" I dropped it right at your windshield.

Now, based on those 3 stories, I could still use generalized statements & complain & bad mouth Cops here, but I still won't.

There are some bad Cops out there, corruption is everywhere you turn, in many many forms. That 2nd Officer I talked about, used Corruption of Power as his form. The first story, that was corruption of time, wasting the Cities tax dollars, because they were bored. The last story was a Corruption of Power.

Officer Haggeddon was directing traffic one day, & some nice person decided to run him over, because he didn't like him. He must've gotten a ticket from him. No, this isn't where Officer Haggeddon lost his life, he got a desk job, til he learned how to make himself a better person because the bumper stickers were seen as harrassing the citizens by the Chief.

He didn't learn though. It wasn't in the line of duty that he died though. He got struck by lighting, not once, but twice & the 2nd time he died.

Now, having said all that I could still gripe about the local Cops around here, but I still won't. Do you know why?

Go on...ask Me.

Because instead of just sitting here & griping about it, I'm choosing to do something about it. I'll be entering Police Academy next Fall & will use those examples of Cops to be a better Cop. To know what not to do, how not to treat the public.

Cops are only as good as they can be, they have to learn from examples they see, both good & bad. If you choose to be a corrupt Cop, then you'll be a corrupt one. If you choose to live above the standards set by a few corrupt Cops, then you can also be seen as a goody goody.

Me...I choose to do what is right. I can't say now, if some perp were to spit in My face, that I wouldn't back hand him, but I know I'll try My hardest to not let anger enter into the equation.

People in general, deserve respect. If you respect a Cop, they shouldn't harrass you. Some of the time, I'm sure a Cop uses levity, making a joke, to lighten the situation, when it gets taken wrong, but you have to learn to laugh at life, otherwise, life can get to you, & you can make bad decisions.

Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem.

I think every cop we he\she starts thinks the same thing . That therrye going to be different then those bad cops, But what happends is your forced to se something that isnt right that another cop is doing to somebody. So you decide to do something about it and and are warned of the consequinces. So lets say you decide to go through with it and decide to report the wrong doing of another officer. For some reason you get a laid off. Ironically their calling for cut backs in the police department in your area. Well your the new guy! looks like youll be hunting another job. but heres the kicker, Your now branded and no other police department wants to hire a whistle blower. until you finally find another one and right off the bat you see some of the same things going on. What do you do this time. Tell? I think not. you either join them or you leave them theres no middle ground and if you dont decide to do the same things they are doing then your still a bad cop for not stoping them. so thats why there all crooked. because every cop knows of another cops wrong doing but is in fear of his job so they dont say nothing. Making them an acomplice

How many of us are minorities in the US? I shouldnt even open this can of worms, but until you have been profiled and abused because of your race or creed, you all have no idea. There may be a few good cops that are there to "protect and serve", but I assure you they are not in the majority. I know a few personally, and I can tell you they are normal guys with a quest for power. Not always, but usually. Power currupts.
I wont go into individual accounts, but if our peace officers spent half of their day promoting peace, or keeping crack off the streets, or halting gang violence we wouldnt have this post. The few cops I know are terrified of the 'hood in my city. They would rather bust 17 year old white kids speeding 7 over with a dime bag of smoke than go into the rough neighborhood to arrest some drug dealers and pimps.
Our crime problems get worse while our police forces grow. Who can argue? My city has the highest police force per capita in MI. We also have the biggest crack problem of any other small city, yet, I know plenty of dealers rollin in sweet rides with chrome feet that feel immune. The cops dont want a shootout, and Mr. Big almost always walks. A good attorney and a fat wallet assure this. The 17 white kid loses his weed, pays a fat fine, loses his allowance, and mom and dad put up little resistance in the court room. He gets probation, or a few days in the clink and hes out. Is society any safer? If this isnt a crooks mindset then Ill be damned.
They are paid to make us safer, and all they do is take the easy out, and treat the people like s**t. Before you post, keep in mind I didnt form this opinion watching cops like most. I know a handful of cops personally, and I live in a pretty rough city. I see this in real life, not in books, not on CNN, and not on message boards. I just couldnt stand to hear anyone say the police are actually in it to solve our problems. Thats just silly.
The real crooks wear the uniform...anyone who disagrees has a very biased environment they base their opinion on.

I keep hearing that " they put their life on the line every day" ( for me! ) Isn't that their job, I mean dont they knopw that before they take the job? Does that mean they have more rights then me, or get an extra special set of laws that they get to go by. They take risk for their community just like an Electrician, Aphalt layer, Phone pole climber , Mosquito truck driver, or the Furnace man. Wait a minute, these guys\girls are just doing there job, its different. I dont think so. I could become a cop to. So that makes me the same kind of person. Dont they eat, sleep, use the bathroom like me?(cops) Just because you put your life on the line doesn't mean your anymore special than me. I along with everybody else does it every day in different ways and theirs more of us dying then the police officers. So why is that when a cop dies on duty, they make a big deal about it. Dont get me wrong i feel for their family, But why is that any different then John Doe who is a cable sellsman trying to support his family. It dont get recognized on the same magnitude as the poice officer. I think I remember somebody important saying that " All men are created equal"

Are We?

So what can we do about it? isn't that crazy. Most of you probably said " theirs nothing we can do about it " Why not? theirs more of us then them, isnt there by 100x . So why is it that we cant do nothing about it. Because its not organized. Thats the problem. So lets get organized. It takes numbers to change things. 1 person telling 2 or 3 and everybody banding together to make a difference. There are things you and I can do. If your reading this and dont think theres a problem big enough to stand up for then you must be a cop or live in a perfect world. Keep an eye out for my movement on crooked cops ( COP BUSTER )

I'm not really sure how they tye into crooked cops pulling people over for no reason because they seem like they might be a criminal. Or cops perjoring police reports daily to there favor. If me or you perjored a written statement to the authority's we would get a misdameanor for false informing. that is the law! but if they do it they say theres nothing you can do about it because the state wont persue that. Or how about editing police tape to their favor. but personaly I believe though shall not kill, A law written a while back

I also know many cops/troopers...
they are all good guys that would be good to rely on in an emergency or when in need.

Would they take a bribe-no...
would they let someone they knew get away with a petty infraction? (speeding) -yep
would they use their power to abuse/harass a pretty woman?- maybe- to an extent
would they ever cover up a serious crime for a fellow cop?- who knows?

would they cheat on thier wife?- many would.

Presently, one of my friends is being harrassed by a married cop.
He is not breaking the law, but is constantly following her, and watching her house. He is also having other officers "cruise by" often.
I know she is his latest trophy (since she gave in and agreed to a date) and is perhaps going to have to pay a lifelong stupid tax... but he was persistant, and her statment was "I was afraid to say no".

A phone call to her local PD chief would resolve it, but can we truly say, that he wouldn't do something out of revenge?

Their are some good cops, but good is a relative term...
are there any perfect cops? your kiddin right? THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERFECT MAN!
are their any crooked cops?... the failure of the drug war is absolute proof that most are. (so sometimes crooked is good)

One of my possible career paths after college is to join the police force. If you base your opinions about police officers based on what you see on TV or in the movies you are looking in the wrong direction. These forms of entertainment either glorify or demonize police officers, neither of which is correct by the way. Policing is a dirty job from what I ve been told from actual officers who are in the field everyday, it by no means easy, temptations are always there. That is why when you go through a police acadamy, you learn 2 ways, in the classroom(which comes first for obvious reasons), and in the field from other officers. It more depends on the person in uniform than just being a cop in general. Bad sterotype.
