Solar panels making hydrogen leads to energy as cheap as water eventually.

Nobody in MSM has ever said that.

Musical Interlude Redux

"Something For Nothing"

Waiting for the winds of change
To sweep the clouds away
Waiting for the rainbow's end
To cast its gold your way
Countless ways
You pass the days

Waiting for someone to call
And turn your world around
Looking for an answer
To the question you have found
Looking for
An open door

You don't get something for nothing
You can't have freedom for free
You won't get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dreams might be

What you own is your own kingdom

What you do is your own glory

What you love is your own power

What you live is your own story

In your head is the answer
Let it guide you along

Let your heart be the anchor
And the beat of your own song

You don't get something for nothing
You can't have freedom for free
You won't get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dreams might be

Is anyone looking at what's happening? The Democrats are moving further to the left and the Republicans further to the right.
What are they aiming for? - A Republican form of Democracy or a reenactment of the Civil War
It's crazy

Democrats are moving further to the left and Republicans are moving further to the .... Left, since 1896.

Actually the Republicans were always on the Left, since the War to Prevent Voluntary Choice in American Government, 1861.

Hydrogen is ideal for storage and is immediately usable for home, transportation, etc. A 'room temperature' superconductor even better. We can dream.

I like the idea of lots of flywheel farms as uninterruptible power nodes. A home flywheel seems like a product idea too.

A flywheel that doubles as a reverse osmosis water filter on permanent magnet bearings.

I like baking sewage at 3000F to get out the flammable gases and an end product of charcoal. A magnifying glass array onto a metal box might do that.

And thats a problem why?

If energy is a currency and usefull energy becomes easier to produce then products become cheaper.

Dont see a problem there.

Problem with precious metals is that they won't be precious when we get to space mining .

I don't foresee that happening. Platinum,Palladium,Gold, and Silver will be replaced with something new.

Remember it's the rarity of those metals that make them 'worth' something.

Kind like Quarks Gold Pressed Latnum in our future.

And the reason rare metal are worth more is it takes more energy to find and extract them.

Precious metals as currency is again just another abstract intermediary for energy.

And Green and Crazy ?

No on using energy as 'money'.

Same thing as FIAT CURRENCY

Since it can be easily created.

That's why precious metals were one of the best options.

Their resources are finite.

No it can't be created.

Only transferred from one state to another.

Problem with precious metals is that they won't be precious when we get to space mining .

Plus again it's only a abstract intermediate.

Engery is pretty much the most pure form of currency as the amount of energy needed to produce, extract or transport something normally determines its worth.

Value is subjectively determined by the demand for a good or service at any given moment and is always fluctuating.

Value is never absolutely determinable nor constant and is not based on the cost of production. That's why the price of a good produced can fall below its production cost. There is still capital invested in those goods so loss associated with malinvestment can be minimized by liquidation but not eliminated.

Speculators are the only counter to precipitous drops because, at some point, they recognize the disparity and begin to acquire the undervalued goods thus halting the fall.

Which is why I am saying our current economic model model may have to be completely replaced if technology keeps progressing.

The way we invest, trade and view value may need to be reajusted.
Wouldn't be the first time i. History that has happened were a previous trade and value system finds its self outdated.

Thats doesn't mean socialism happen or capitalism will go.
It goes beyond that.
Just means the way we trade and what we put value on will be adjusted.
Capitalism would likely take on a new form.

Currency is supposed to be easy to carry. Energy is not easy to carry.

Also you have it backwards about the cost of energy. If energy were a currency and its creation became cheaper then products that used more energy to produce would become cheaper compared to those that used less energy to produce, but the cost of things in general would go up, by inflation.

And bernie wants to end all of the corruption. He may not be able to do it overnight or at all, but it's a step in the right direction.

Well we might have to agree to disagree on that.

But think I can agree with you Neo and Green that the current model based around fiat currency is broken and likely soon to be obsolete.

Socialism is just a band aid and a poor attempt to fix a fundamentally broken model

i really ask myself if some americans are brainwashed because they seem to get very irrational when it comes to the word "socialist".

I am from germany. We live in a social democracy. And if you have been to germany you would know how much better our system works then yours..and there is no "FORCE"..YOu still have your banksters, your hardcore capitalists... Dont worry: the illusion of the american dream (i will be a millionair while many will be poor) will not die in a social democracy...

It's amazing you put all of Bernie's quotes he never said on here, but it's obvious you missed all he has said. Something tells me you was one of those who questioned Obama's birth certificate. Maybe you are "sure" he's a Muslim. A commie. That Obama will declare Marshal Law to stay in power, ...etc. You know...all we can expect from FOX News...and obviously you don't like when one "attacks" the messenger. I get that. Yet everything I said is true. And after shirty five years of "Brown Shirt" mentality you feel the need the spread the manure once again. That I don't get.

If, lets say, you were in a coma the past few decades, Let me give you the "heads up." America's capitalism is "NOT" what Adam Smith explained. You live in a Fascist Police State. Where Banks are too big to fail. Any time when "too big to fail" means the collective (tax-payers) "must" bail out the offenders...errrr...big entities for their survival, yet "all" profits are declared "Private," then you live in a fascist state. Smith would be horrified by America's recent situation. Once you fail to understand this, with all of it's ramifications, then you share the same as any other Wall St. messengers. Like i stated earlier, you were warned back in the day yet you follow the script. That's on you. But don't spin you're web of FOX News rattle-trap among those who know the difference.

In others words, you should know how you are being played. If there is "socialism" in America, it's within the Wall St. elites who demand their place on earth be "guaranteed" regardless of their performance and or criminal behavior. As a citizen and consumer, I have no problem adding these parasites to the unemployed line.

Lived in germany for a few years, your system sucks. The only reason germany even still exists is because they are the king of the euro. See, capitalism didn't die (just as you said), it just went international. Now Germany screws everyone else in the EU (except maybe france, belgium, and luxembourg).

Anyone wanna guess how much electricity costs in germany? Well a couple years back it was about 0.35 USD/KWh. I pay 0.12 in the US.
Guess how much VAT is in germany? 19%.
Guess what else you get to pay taxes for, closets, they're considered bedrooms so they drive up property tax. Unsurprisingly no one has closets.
Guess what else you get to pay taxes for, Televisions, computers, radio's, etc.
But hey, it's great, right? I can go to the hospital for free! My wife had a baby there, our scheduled appointments typically had a wait time of 1-2 hours (past our scheduled time) then the appointment is rushed through and completed to check the boxes.
And guess what else, If you make 50k euro/yr your income taxes are about 25%. That's on top of all of the other taxes you pay.
Ain't socialism great!??!??

I do miss the christmas markets though. Those are one of a kind. And man, I've been craving a doner for years, no one makes them like the turks in germany.

I love listening to people like you. You correctly diagnose the problem (corruption at the top between the rich and the government) but fail to see that granting government even more power will only result in greater corruption. The most corrupt places on earth are places with powerful, all encompassing governments, it's not a coincidence. If bernie wins and gets some of his crap implemented, it may be fine for the first few years, but it's only a matter of time before it's exploited to further smash the lower class and uplift the higher class.

You have no idea what has been into your head.

You know your life is not your own for instance.

The precedent for the current from of slavery was put into power by divine Lincoln. Bernie loves Lincoln.

" ...slavery, he suggests, was on its way out in any case. Not only was it a political liability, but the institution's many-faceted costs (social cost, enforcement, uprisings, mistreatment) outweighed any profits. If, after decades of unsuccessful compromise, the North had recognized the South's revolutionary right to self-determination and had let the Gulf states secede, slavery would have succumbed in the border states. Hummel goes on to argue, as have many others before, that after a devastating war and the disappointment of Reconstruction, a federal government that once interfered only a little in the affairs of individual states "had been transformed into an overbearing bureaucracy that intruded into daily life with taxes, drafts, surveillance, subsidies and regulations."

Emancipating Slaves, Enslaving Free Men: A HIstory of the American Civil War by Jeffrey Rogers Hummel 1996
