Another mutiny brewing within the Ukrainian military. It's with the 51 Mechanized Brigade soldiers from Volyn.

There HAS to be something going on thats creating the Ukrainian soldiers to defect/disobey orders from this U.S. backed govt. Hell, even the Maidan are disobeying now!

Ukraine 2014 GDP to Decline By 5%: Fitch Ratings

Credit rating agency Fitch Ratings said Ukraine's gross domestic product will decline by 5% in 2014, as the ongoing political crisis in the country continues to weigh on its economy.

Even if Ukraine's presidential election offers some support to its sovereign credit profile by reducing near-term political uncertainty, it is not likely to lessen its economic woes, Fitch said.

"Ukraine's most pressing problems include insurgency in the east, the dispute with Russia over gas payments, adhering to its IMF programme, and maintaining reserves while meeting external funding needs," the rating agency said in a statement.

Geesh, not good for an already damaged Ukrainian economy. The govt should really re-evaluate & consider cutting their losses. If not - soon they'll have a large scale revolt on their hands to worry about as well. . .

Putin’s Shift on Ukraine Result of His Visit to Beijing, Kazan Editor Says

How would you like to be fly on the wall during those talks?

Interesting how it does look as though the bully got bullied themselves.

If wishing made it so...

When people discuss Russia and there new found friend China, they fail to understand the economic relationship between the US and China. Since the US and Russia do not engage in that much trade any circumstances that would cause a rift between Russia and the US will have minimal impacts on both economies (although sanctions are another issue). China and the US on the other hand are economically linked. Russia is not large enough to absorb any lost markets should China-US relations go south, making it all that much more imperative for China to walk a tight rope. Even if Europe were to end all energy purchases from Russia China still is not large enough to absorb the loss.

I find it interesting Putin misread the Chinese. Apparently Putin's ability to walk on water is not all its cracked up to be.

It is the West that is bankrupt

Mere $100B of more military equipment for Russia and China each, West will not be able to handle new military threats to its dominance. Russia and China will CHOKE your economies this way alone !!!

Ukraine had 25 years with $200B in subsidies from Russia. Still could not make it......hence will not make it !!

Russia has secured its bets by coming to deal with China. Now it can play hardball with EU soon. Either EU stops towing AngloSaxon (US and UK) lines or stand ready to pay the economic price.

Other than Germany, majority of EU economies are in shambles.

Only about time the middle class of EU nations tell the US to butt out of European affairs. Cold war was long over in 1991 but the US hardline towards Russia did not end.

This can lead to serious weakening of the US of A in many respects.

While it might sound funny to folks on ATS, but me personally do not want US to go down the economic, political and military gutter drains.

US just needs to modify its foreign policy by 20% and world is a beautiful place.

For the better of the humanity, US and its way of life need to be in the lead.............with 20% modification.

Sadly both Russia and china added 100 billion still doesnt equal what the US spends on military. US spent 640 billion china spent 188 and Russia spent 87.8 by the way Russian economy couldnt handle spending another 100 billion the 87 billion was already 4.1 percent of GDP. Where the United States economically dwarfs both China and Russia even at 640 billion thats still only 3.8 GDP.

Russia takes over the U.N. Security Council

UNITED NATIONS, June 01, 4:33 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia is taking over the U.N. Security Council chairmanship from South Korea on June 1 and will hand it over to Rwanda on July 1.

Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin told Russian journalists at the United Nations headquarters that the Security Council’s schedule would be busy and intensive.

$10B one time investment into crucial areas of Russian and Chinese military can very easily add to their current strength by 20% or more for years and years down the road, without even adding any new equipment.

Do not throw the useless numbers based on the 'layman's logic'.

Yeah i know super Russians we get faster than a speeding bullet more powerful yada yada. The US military loses more than 10 billion a year buying toilet paper. If Russian military is in such a sad state that 10 billion is going to increase there military strength by 20 percent all i have to say is better be careful Ukraines likely to be in Moscow by the end of the month.

The chair position rotates every month so nothing new there. As for the agenda it should be interesting.

in order for Russia to increase its military spending it will need to either raise taxes, export more products or decrease domestic spending to off set.

Since taxes and domestic spending decrease is impossible all they are left with is exports and we can see where that is going right now. Russia is going to need to drop a boat load into Crimea, far more than they initially thought. Add on top of that a water supply and infrastructure improvements to link Crimea to Russia directly....

They don't have the funding for all of Putins wishes.

You have definitely run out of ideas to present for the arguement.

That's because your position is on the weak platform to begin with !!

Unless China gets blamed for harming US personel, then by our laws we confiscate the debt and owe China NOTHING. And since our (GOD it's embarrassing) POTUS only needs to make up a story to prove it.WE won't owe ANYTHING any more.
Besides our lairs don't follow the laws and our military doesn't follow rule either,we win, that is all.

I am NOT at all happy about that ,in fact vets are getting REAL tired of these guys s##t,Of which experts with .50 cals CAN fix,the system couldn't stop that =.It is just NOT something done without GRAVE purpose. They haven't pushed THAT hard ...yet.
Not scared of Russians either. We had them the MOMENT the first Pershing system was deployed, after that they only had nukrs and conventional warfare is OWNED by America. It's time to start the Space Federation and give up death anyway.

Yeah super Russians again my question is do you think for yourself at all? Take the time to look at reality seems you just make things up with little or no facts. See last month Russia lost 25 billion in investments that are used for things like jobs raises buying equipment etc. That means the Russian economy is shrinking i suggest you look into what damage the loss of foreign investment does to an economy. Unless you have a handler looking over your shoulder you have the internet and you have a brain look into what damage Ukraine is doing to Russian economy. Russia was an emerging economy until this mess started its going to shrink. They even moved ahead of Italy but guarantee with expected growth of .05 percent there going to drop alot.

Now i know you dont believe in numbers you made that obvious but it might be a good idea to find out what those numbers mean so you can at least stop yourself from making silly statements. And realize Russian media is putting out alot of misinformation right now happens whenever theirs a conflict. Read this it may make you think in the future does this sound like a real story?

Sorry ace, your colloquial insults are pedantic. Care to express YOUR expertise in life, also yep I am immature to you Russians,so are most Americans. In case you haven't noticed this "KIDDIE" like Honored Warrior asked about that suppressed carbine earlier and it's distribution in your country,Your compatriots wouldn't answer about those Vintorezs either. Care to talk about hard info on THAT Ivan?
I lead the 18th Airborne being in the 7th Cav,Desert Storm.Your current assessments of us and our capabilities are JUST as inaccurate as they were before.Firing your generals didn't help.
On the other hand your assessment of our corruption is a bit too low,it isn't a nation you are opposing here,it's banks.
