Come on. Both are wrong.

The Moon doesn't emit light. And it doesn't reflect light.

It's the souls that it devours that make it shine so bright!

Where's John Lear when you need him?

That's exactly what this about. The poster above me who keeps replying to me with nonsense debunked their own post and this thread still keeps trying to make convulted arguments and is getting stars for it somehow...

Bill Nye used his position as speaker at a science lecture to employ ambush tactics on the christian faith.
Nobody expects to go to a science lecture and hear about religion. Not real scientists, students, Christians, or anyone else with common sense. Just radical atheist s or radical Christians.

There is no science and religion there is a few profiteers that DEBATE this topic on both sides of the subject. Which is fine for anyone interested in that. Richard Dawkins has plenty of debates on this.

Why would anyone of strong christian faith knowingly take time out of their day to go to a science lecture and have their faith be attacked just to get up and leave probably because they and no one else were given any indication that's what the lecture was about.

Yeah I'm from Texas. You're stupid enough to believe the headline of this story?

Good, leave and don't come back.

Oh the IRONY, because the full moon does perfectly reflect the sun being of the same visible diameter such that the sun is both 400 times larger than the moon and 400 times farther away, a phenomenon highlighted during a perfect eclipse of the sun as well as a lunar eclipse, which when taken together points to an earth-moon-sun relationship and configuration of such an astronomical "coincidence" that it appears to indicate an intelligent design with the human being in mind (from the very beginning) as a self aware intelligent observer, because such a configuration is only potentially meaningful to an earth-based observer/measurer and, because it's the very cornerstone of human evolution and the cycle of life on Earth as we know it.

If so it contains embedded an allegory like a wink and a nod, directed to mankind from none other than the (super infinite intelligent) Creator himself which states that man reflects God as the moon does the sun, an allegory most certainly not lost on one among us who, just under 2000 years ago, on April 3rd, 33 AD, on Passover Preparation Day, according to the ancient lunar calendar, performed his Great Work while making use of a lunar eclipse in such a way that by the time it rose over the horizon, mid afternoon ie: to the very HOUR, he was already on the cross as a demonstration of just who was in control of events and who was not, among other things. This is why I call it a double-reverse sting, double-bind, hoodwink, on Jesus' part relative to those who put him there. Can you imagine their reaction when that blood red moon rose already entering into the eclipse phase?! "How did he KNOW?!!!" (LOL)

"My hour has not yet come" said Jesus, slipping through the crowd who were setting out to stone him.

For those who are interested, see THIS for additional information and context. If you don't have time to watch the whole of the first video documentary, it get's really interesting at about the 51:45 mark (where the lunar eclipse on the day of the cross is addressed), to save you some time.

Best Regards,

NAM

"There is no astronomical reason why the moon and the sun should fit so well. It is the sheerest of coincidences, and only the Earth among all the planets is blessed in this fashion."

~ Isaac Asimov, the respected scientist and science-fiction guru, described this perfect visual alignment as being: "The most unlikely coincidence imaginable".

P.S. Blessed are you who evaluated this info and gave me a star for it - because for most others it will go right over their head or right under their radar, completely unnoticed and unappreciated.

Atheists, in particular, will avoid it like the plague.

The IRONY!

By the tone of your post, you only believe in "free-thought" if it is just like yours. How is that freedom?

I guess you're correct. I "believe" that people should have the freedom to think as they wish. Not understanding what that means might lend towards judging others based on the "tone" of what they say and do.

Let's not forget that the moon doesn't only reflect light from the Sun, it also reflects light from 'Earthshine' too (ok..second hand Sunlight) together with man-made light in the form of lasers.

I agree with the Dr. the medical field and NDE type accounts are the best evidence or an afterlife, doesnt make it true but with so many accounts until science discovers some biological mechanism of whats happened after "death" its not an open and shut case.

The only reason I posted so many times in this thread and feel so strongly is because the last time I was in church I got up and walked out just like this lady
The pastor was preaching about homosexuals to the point of ad nauseum he even paused several times to see if anyone had any questions. It was at this time I realized I was in a radical church and no longer wanted to be there, I knew this guy was looking for some kind of reaction, and I said to myself if he mentions homosexuals one more time preaching hate speech I'm just going to leave.

Sure enough he kept on. I stood up and headed for the aisle and just as a I suspected he stopped his ranting to ask me in front of a congregation of a few hundred people if I had a question. I said my questions about belonging to thwt church had already been answered.

He persisted and said " I'm not making any of this up its right here in the book" shaking it in the air. So I was forced into having to tell him that I didn't agree with his interpretations of the book, and that he quoted two verses wrong as well as flat out lieng when he said something about the Qur'an that was untrue.

I said I thought this church was a place I could come sing some songs, hear some verses read with passion, and meet some nice people. I was obviously completely wrong. I quoted Romans 12:2 " And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and the perfect will of God."
I can think for myself about any subject. That's what happened in Texas that day.
Some lady didn't appreciate being ambushed by Bill Nye and left that's what happened in Texas that day.

Reading sentences like this is why i always wonder if we ever going to advance as human being.

Is thunder and lightning results god being mad? im pretty you don't but why do you think this worth no credit than your sources about afterlife claim?

Typical of you and your kinds dishonesty. You took a fragment of my sentence to use out of context, to say non sense things. You cant prove the afterlife its a one way ticket. Until science discovers some biological mechanism that makes so many people experience an afterlife during an NDE. Im not ready to write off so many people as liars who seemingly have no reason to lie. Science doesnt know every biological function of the human body.

I guess you have all the answers though right? You know more about the human body than current science? You know every claim by every person to experience an NDE is a liar?

I think the current theory says its neurons going haywire to easy the pain of passing.

Its make sense, even if its not proven. Saying its a proof of an afterlife is absurd.

Edit:

Typical of you and your kinds dishonesty.

What is my kind? i like Japanese Cars with HID, Like Ice Cream with hazelnut and chocolate syrup oh and i also happened to not believe in this god story, just like i don't like to play tennis.

Who else is like that!? i must meet them!

These type of people are holding us all back as a specie..I honestly want the rapture to happen so they are taken away.
The stupidity of people and the ignorance of religion sickens me.

I don't think the "rapture" would want these idiots.

A 2000 year old fairy tale at that. In a Universe with billions of Galaxies, we have millions upon millions of mindless sheople who actually believe it all stems from some man made doctrine that was thought up in some desert by one single species on one tiny planet among trillions. Nope, You can't fix stupid. ~$heopleNation

Exactly, science and god go hand in hand but some people just don't have the education (Or they were educated by religious people) to understand this.
Keep religion out of schools and the world would be a better place.

KEEP religion of the planet and the world would be a better place!!!

It is doubly ironic (yet again) in looking at your avatar, to note that, in the geometry of the Great Pyramid is encoded the earth-moon-sun relationship/configuration that also just so happens to have been generative of human evolution and the cycle of life on Earth.

It confounds both any sort of "coincidence" theory as well as the "strong anthropic principal" (it is meaningful and significant by virtue of our own observation, as intended) proving intelligent design by some sort of super-infinite intelligent unknown creative agency. Jesus however appears to have understood perfectly what it meant as it relates the human being and even to himself in particular - should anyone care to take the time to re-read the Gospels with an open and curious mind, which btw can be read, all four of them, in one sitting, the words of Jesus (often printed in red) within about an hour, at most.

Deny ignorance!

Now the appropriate reaction here instead of denial or calling me an idiot, would be something along the lines of... HOLY #!

Best Regards,

NAM

P.S. Remember that the root of "logos", is logic.

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

~ Psalm 8:4-6

the real worry is the amount of these religionist sky fairy morons of all faiths that hold positions
of power and influence and thus do their best to wreck scientific advancement through self for filling
ignorance for the absolute worse of them one only needs to look to saudi arabia and its
wonderful 14th century muslim mindset women as property, beheadings, stoning etc

in comparison the US's christian nutters seem quite quaint but they are just as dangerous
by forcing utter garbage through the education system and media thus keeping the masses ignorant
of the true nature if the universe and stifling advancement.

oh and lets not forget the millions of folk that religion has killed needlessly over the centuries
in pointless my fairy is better than your fairy squabbles.

sorry rambling but i LOATH religion of all forms it is a pointless hang over and the sooner
we as a species grow the fek up and take responsibility for our OWN advancement
the better.

if you are so weak minded that you believe everything you do is subject to mom (sorry) GOD's
will then you are obviously IMO unfit to go out without a carer much less have the vote
or even be say a US senator or a UK member of parliament shudder.
