All this talk about energy and its association with some form of afterlife is ridiculous!
But I guess all the delluded ATS'ers are sure that their belief in some form of afterlife are right!!!
Sorry but you aint!! Just crutch needing niaive wishful nurds!
When you dead you are dead! get used to it because you will never be able to confirm or know any different when your are dead, because you are dead!!!

This topic has been beaten to death. This is not what this thread is meant to cover.

If this back and forth back-biting doesn't stop, I will request the MODS shut this thread down.

Everyone is entitled to their own belief, but this name calling, and degrading others stops NOW!

It does cover a lot of areas, but could that be because not just one religion/faith is correct? Could that explain why they all think they are the right one, and the others are wrong; because they each have been receiving messages from "above" that pertain to only one part of the whole?

Since the only consistency between all our organized religions is inconsistency that would lead anybody who thought it through to the conclusion that they're all made-up wholesale.

I don't discount the notion of an afterlife outright, but this type of story does not progress us any closer towards the truth when it shoves in everything.

It was like a magnet pushing me there. I then saw someone who was dead. My grandfather. He said" To the stars". I got pushed by that force and fell on my knees. free of that power. I fell into a weird city that looked like a very ruined version of earth. I then noticed it was earth. But earth during ww3. Everything was rubble but thank god it was only in one continent that was blown up. That was Europe. I then heard voices explaining how the savior of this event will be born in 2001 on this exact date in Canada. He too would be a Sikh. I awoke in the hospital and the doctor said that I had just died and was know alive.

That is somebodies near death experience

Very interesting!
Too bad they didn't give a date when this is supposed to happen. I don't feel it is too far away, the way things are going.

Did you read my post earlier about the tree branches representing all the different paths to reach the divine Source?

If you think of it that way, it helps to see things more clearly.

But, I respect your opinion.

I think this question is irrelevant..Einstein even went so far as to say that eg. MATTER is only "frozen energy"... obviously energy can transform from one and the other state (sun/heat --> kinetic -> electricity/EM -> etc..etc..)

So my questions is irrelevant then ??? It's probably just as well seeing you're unable to answer it !!

Yes Einstein,ok.Yes he was the one that truly understood the relationship between matter and energy.

energy can transform from one and the other state (sun/heat-->kinetic->electricity/EM->etc..etc),,mm ok true if a little simplistic !!!

UNLESS you deny that our mind/thinking/consciousness is *some kind* of energy...which it undoubtedly is!

Without a question...we have a body/brain...but our consciousness/thinking is MORE than just a pile of "brain"..there is "energy" there although the energy from the consciousness is difficult to grasp or even to specify...no question about that.

I love how you completely sure about something you're not sure of.lol.

Conciousness, thinking, mind are processes, phenomenon. Are they actually energy, well of *some kind*,,I can't deny it for sure because like most people I don't know how it works.Howabout explaining it to the rest of the world as you undoubtedly know what it is.

You start the next bit fine,I certainly wouldn't argue we have a body and a brain...but after that you slip back into assertions as facts with very vague explanations.I suppose I should just accept you're right and leave it at that then.lol

I mean saying that thinking/mind etc is more than just a pile of brain,,what do you mean ?? are you saying that they're more than the mere function of the brain or that brain needs energy/fuel to produce conciousness. The brain get it's energy from sugar,,the old energy/matter conversion again.

there is "energy" there although the energy from the consciousness is difficult to grasp or even to specify...no question about that.

Again, nicely sidestepped, the *some kind* of energy that constitutes conciousness is difficult to grasp or specify. So in other words, you can't explain it,we can't detect or quantify it but you say it's there so it''s true.lol.

The question however is whether this energy is *produced* by the brain (old, material point of view)..or whether our "soul energy" is beyond what our BODY is, whether it is something external which "inhibits" our body temporarily...rather than being created by it. This is the key question.

So that's the relevant question now ?? is the 'energy' produced by the brain conciousness ??

see all this 'soul energy' *some kind* conciousness energy, brain energy...it's all very vague and then saying it's difficult to grasp or define really doesn't answer anything much

As a medical scientists I can almost guarantee you that there is no god, no after life and no actual supernatural occurrences ....

We are just animals like everything else ... nothing happens when you die ... also the study with rats only shows that there is brain activity after you die (in rats, not humans) which everyone assumed anyways ... nothing else. nothing break through there

Everyone can believe in what they like ... but you are almost 100% wrong believing in these types of things.

Most scientists know that what you experience after deaths is a massive dose of Dimethyltryptamine which is one of the most potent psychedelics known to man ... even people who take it while they are alive have the same "after death" experiences as people who have so called NDE's ...

So that explains away the entire after death experience to me, if it can be recreated in some one alive using the same drug (Dimethyltryptamine) ... it is clearly nothing to do with an "after life" and more to do with the chemistry of the brain reacting to the dose of Dimethyltryptamine.

Unfortunately Scientist or not... Saying anyone is 100% wrong on this issue is just fooling yourself...

Scientists don't know anymore then anyone else does on the "afterlife" thing... because hardly anyone remembers their previous lives... and unfortunately we can't come back to tell the story...

Good luck with that 100% though...

lol ... If you knew everything i did about the subject of science you would be just as sure as i am

There is so much evidence for nothing happening after death that i wouldn't even know where to begin explaining it to you ...

It would be like trying to teach a 1 year old how to speak Icelandic (not a shot at your intelligence by the way, I'm just explaining how hard it would be to converge all the facts for the absence of life after deaths in less then 2-3 days full work)

we know that humans are in some way wired to believe in life after death as it helps us cope with the fact that we will all in fact die ... it's basic human psychology to protect yourself in this way ... there is also the fact that a proper psychologist can actually 100% make an atheist believe in god in less then 15 mins ... the reason they can is because it was wired into us early in evolution to help society move forward ... but as I said, to explain this to you properly would takes days and its almost midnight here at the moment.

But I have seen enough in my life and in science to realise what is actually true, and put aside believing in silly superstitions and gods and supernatural things as believing in them serves no societal or evolutionary purpose anymore.

Well instead of trying to convince me that you know everything there is to know about the subject... Why don't you just convince me... or write a thread about the subject...

I don't particularly want to break down silly superstitions, gods and supernatural things for you either... that might take years...

And besides I would love to hear how you came to your 100% proof... that should be good...

Your use of the word "supernatural" may indicate that your confidence in your position is merely hubris.

Afterlife and God are not mutually exclusive.

But something to consider: the term supernatural merely describes things that are sublime enough to evade our current ability to measure.

My uncle is about 10 years older than me. In 1999 he was in a really bad motorcycle wreck. Ripped his arm off, hit a fencepost with his face at almost 100 mph. He was a moron.....

.....as he layed in a field in Odessa, TX at a little past midnight, he bled to death. When the EMT's arrived he had no pulse. They gave him plasma, apparently an SOP for bleedout patients (get enough liquid to gain some BP and let the trauma doctors sort it out).

We don't know how long he was dead. Estimates are in the 5 minute range. He is unable to walk due to ischemic damage (from the bleedout), and had to have a large piece of his muscle in the lower back removed after it became necrotic (he landed on his tailbone after flying about 200 feet through the air....the barbed wire from the fencepost his face hit is what ripped his arm off).

He saw something while he was dead. He won't talk about it, but he is a greatly changed man today. Before he is what you would have called "a bad man". A 1% biker affiliated with the Banditos. He is nothing like that now. Whatever he saw, he has indicated that it scared the crap out of him, and that a past family member made him feel ashamed.

I hear those angles are rather acute, though.

The „paranormal studies“ forum doesn’t really do justice to the ingenuity of this thread’s contributions and quality. How about creating a “Barack Obama nobel prize insights” subforum as a better accommodation alternative for amazing threads like this one.

As I said the near death experience has been recreated in live patients by Dr. Rick Strassman, using a drug that is actually produced in your own body called Dimethyltryptamine, and we know your brain releases a large dose of this drug at death

Okay .... I was at Barnes and Nobels yesterday and I couldn't find the book.
But I did find one called 'Afterlife' by Barry Eaton.
Flipping though it ... it looked VERY similar.
So I bought it. I'll read it when I'm done with the Edgar Cayce book.

See ... I don't want to start all over again. I remember the death I went through in my most recent past life ... (I was a child who died in London during the Nazi blitz) and I have been shown how I die in my next life ... (200 years from now in a post apocolyptic type East Texas, I'm a 17 year old boy who dies in a car accident with my two very younger sisters in the back of the car. I purposely choose to go off a cliff and kill us all rather than be captured by invaders. I don't know who the invaders are).

I don't want to come back. It seems pointless to me ....

I've never seen any blue figures or anything like that, but I do feel that I have some vague "spirit" guide (if you want to call it that) guiding me. I tend to meet people who are on "journeys" or deep personal developments and I notice that there's always a lot of synchronicity going on whenever this happens, between me and my "friends-of-the-moment."

These coincidences piling upon each other that are so insane that they are shocking and beautiful.

And it was only earlier this year that I felt like I could "identify" OTHER people's spirit guides, as in I felt like I knew what they wanted me to do, what role they wanted me to play in their plan for OTHER people as well as the plan for me.

I feel when I die, and when I come to the reflection stage, I'll have already found my piece in life already. That's how good I feel most of the time.

I do not know if your topic has really told me he truth about the afterlife, but it has made me feel good, regardless. Thank you.

EDIT: A dear friend of mine has been having "past life flashes" for past couple months. This reminds me of her. And funny because she's undoubtedly the happiest most innocent person I've ever met. And I met her at a time both of us were going through massive change. Again, the sense of "togetherness."
