They stuck it in his heart to make him and he controls all the WW. Kill him, kill them all.

Which is a perfect example of the shows garbage writing now. IMHO.

I mean we've seen Wight generals killed before (Hardhome) and no Others dropped.

Sounds like you have read the books so you might already know this...

But for those who don't, this Night's King is a show only character.

As far as the books go, the leader(s) of the Others has yet to be revealed. IF there is one. Which there very well might be. An interesting thing to note is, that they are capable of speech (their voices sound like the crackling of ice).

There was a character called the Night's King in ancient history, however:

According to legend, Night's King lived during the Age of Heroes, not long after the Wall was complete. He was a fearless warrior named the thirteenth Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Later, he fell in love with a woman "with skin as white as the moon and eyes like blue stars". He chased her and loved her though "her skin was cold as ice", and when he gave his seed to her he gave his soul as well. Night's King brought her back to the Nightfort and after the unholy union, he declared himself king and her his queen, and ruled the Nightfort as his own castle for thirteen years.[1]

During the dark years of his reign, horrific atrocities were committed, of which tales are still told in the north. It was not until Brandon the Breaker, the King of Winter, and Joramun, the King-Beyond-the-Wall, joined forces that Night's King was brought down and the Night's Watch freed.[2] After his fall, when it was discovered that Night's King had been making sacrifices to the Others, all records of him were destroyed and his very name was forbidden and forgotten.[1] It is likely this led the lords of the north to forbid the Night's Watch to construct walls at their keeps, ensuring the keeps would always be accessible from the south.

Maesters are skeptical of the legend, thinking the Night's King's corpse queen was possibly a daughter of a Barrow King from the barrowlands.[2] Some fan theories link her with the Others because of her description.

As for spells and such... well I can't say. Not a bad thought though. I feel it might be too "fantasy" for GRRM. But I could easily be wrong. Especially considering how the show has started doing things the easy way.

You used to have to pay attention to the show and what was going on. Now, you can shut your brain off and glide right through it all without exercising a single neuron. I don't have to fear my favorite character's deaths anymore, because I know they won't kill them off yet. Jon Snow pulled under freezing cold water by entities cold enough to put out the flames around them, for minutes at least.. Climbs out in soaked gear, thrown on a horse by a guy who claims there is no time to save himself (which there clearly was plenty), rides all the way back to the Wall wet/frozen.. and is somehow still alive.. ?! All so he can go on to deliver some fan service and bone Dany.

I feel more ranting so I will cut myself off here lol.

I have a feeling there is one since Martin said previously the next book will 'take us farther north then ever before'.

Speaking of fan service.

I'd really like to see Hodor make an appearance.

The Night King loved an "Other" and cruelly ruled the Nights Watch until they were liberated and he was purged from history.

In the show I think they poorly explain the story line going with the Children making the Night King an "Other". That was never in Nan's stories, but Leaf said they made him to fight men. But here is where my history timeline is confused thanks to #ty scripting. The Children and the Last Hero pushed back the Others in to the Land of the long Winter (or whatever up up up North is called) and ended the Long Night. But I believe that pact was before the Night King Story...Does anyone know or remember? This means that the Night King is not the NK of the Nights Watch.

It's important to look at the Craster story line when it comes to White Walkers. Nan's tales said that the Others made children from Human women given to them.
Craster gave sacrificed children and was never attacked by Wights...so there is something to that piece we shouldn't forget about. Not sure what because the TV show has left me confused.

They also don't differentiate between Wights and the Others and it makes no sense that a Lieutenant of the 'Night king' was killed by Longclaw at HardHome but his wight minions didn't collapse like they did on Sundays episode.
This is not good continuity.

He said that? That means they must go to the Land of Long Winter where the Others live and where Craster's son was "made".

Edit, which is incidentally the same place the Children made the the NK but in the summertime

But it's really in Iceland, so yeah there's that.

He did.

And what lies really north in my books—we haven't explored that yet, but we will in the last two books.

I hope he doesn't croak and we get to find out.

The least he could have done is write the screenplays for the last 3 seasons. It would hardly have been taxing given what we've gotten.

You think it's at all possible that they are already written? I mean, to release them on the heels of the show wrapping up would be a boon to sales.

Just dipping my toe in the tinfoil here.

He's busy, goddamn it!

He's got his anthologies, and his trading cards and his non-GoT stories to work on. Plus he needs to watch both the Giants and the Jets so he can post about them later on his blog (that's not really a blog).

I thought he could pull a Stephen King with his Gunslinger books and crank them out because of his near death experience but fatty hasn't had one so I'm not holding out hope.

I'm just being a ball buster, it's his series called Wild Cards that he edits.

And wastes more frickin time on instead of finishing the damn books.

The Age of Heroes followed the pact made between the Children and the First Men. During this age, Bran the Builder, with the help of the Children of the Forest, constructed the Wall. Shortly after the construction, is when the Night's King legend begins.

The Age of Heroes followed the Pact between the children and the First Men, four thousand years of relative peace between the races.[5] Eventually the enigmatic Others invaded from the uttermost north, bringing death and destruction to children and First Men, during an extended period of winter known as the Long Night. The children joined with the First Men, led by the last hero, to fight against the Others in the Battle for the Dawn. Eventually the Others were driven back into the Lands of Always Winter.[2] Bran the Builder, the legendary founder of House Stark, is said to have enlisted the magical aid of the children during the construction of the Wall.[4][19]
