Yawn, so now we have someone else who will take control and lay down guidelines for Catholics everywhere. I have to say, the smoke thing and the ridiculous secrecy of the whole thing, not to mention the secret Vatican archives puts this whole spectacle in line with all the other secret societies. If they really want to dictate to their followers to lead a life like Jesus, maybe they should be more open and allow public viewing of their voting and access to their secret archives. The Vatican hides many secrets.

I was raised catholic, and I find this show boating and the way some people look upon Popes as being holier then thou. Lets not forget, the pope puts his pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. He's human, has the same fallacies, yet he's catered to like a king. I really don't think Jesus expected religious leaders to be treated like kings.

Im very disappointed, where is peter the roman at? I thought the prophecy would be fulfill, this sucks

Heck I can't even call myself Christian anymore. I'd rather just be agnostic and believe what can be shown to be true.

I've been thinking about the St. Malachy prophecy, "Petrus Romanus". Well, "Petrus" means "rock". Maybe the correct interpretation is "The rock of Rome" - i.e. he will be the rock for everyone during a time of great catastrophe for the world?
